MLR did some fandubs, but that was us just randomly having fun in skype and deciding to record it. (and then we got out dubs played on Celestia Radio xD). I guess if you are having fun it's alright.

ReplyDeleteSeth, please, stop this OC thing. Having OC in the story is ok, but pushing 'em on the front page just makes lot of us to hate that characters. (The main reason why OC can be annoying - it's pushing in original universe by the author. Pushing hardly)

Well there's no way I'm going to be able to watch every episode before season 2 starts, but the list did inspire me to start watching the G1 cartoons. Surprisingly enough, I actually like it! It's weird as all get out at times, but definitely enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteThe good so far: A couple of hilarious voice clips I'm going to be using on a regular basis, Powder (who is probably G1's Rarity) giving Spike a kiss, Mr. Muchick, a smattering of truly evil villains (modern cartoons need to take a hint from the 80's. Even Rainbow Bright had those demon rams...), and the original dark rainbow - a black cloud of smoke that corrupts and transforms everypony it touches (A butterfly becomes a rampaging dragon! Gasp!) that could only be defeated by the rainbow of light. Boy does that last one sound familiar. Oh, and the Flutterponies. Can't forget them.
The bad so far: A smattering of poorly executed villains, Singing Shoo-bop-de-wop Seaponies, and hillbilly witches riding on a giant bra boat in a sea of sentient purple Smooze. Hillbilly witches aren't that big a deal. The Smooze is actually somewhat funny. But a bra boat?! What the hay...
tl;dr - go ahead and watch G1 cartoons. It stands fairly well on its own, and there's quite a few things that G4 has referenced as well.
