That is the face of a stallion whose dreams have been torn out from under his hooves. That is the face of a stallion who has lost his possible future to his real destiny.
ReplyDeleteWhen you look at the Big Macintosh of the present, you notice he is quiet, and looks very wise in his reticence. He does not speak because he is resigned to his fate. He seems so wise because his harsh reality has left him aged beyond his years.
That is what you are all loling about. Your lulz are aimed at a colt with a crushed spirit.

ReplyDeleteThere was two kind of ponies. There was the house pony and the field pony. The house pony, they lived in the house, with master. They
ReplyDeletedressed pretty good. They ate good, cause they ate his food.....what he left.
They lived in the attic or the basement, but still they lived near their master, and they loved their master, more than their master loved
himself. They would give their life to save their masters house quicker than their master would.
The house pony, if the master said "We got a
good house here" the house pony say "Yeah, we got a good house here".
Whenever the master would said we, he'd say we. That's how you can tell a house pony. If the master's house caught on fire, the house pony
would fight harder to put the blaze out than the master would. If the master got sick, the house pony would say "What's the matter, boss, we
sick?" We sick! He identified himself with his master, more than the master identified with himself. And if you came to the house pony and
said "Let's run away, Let's escape, Let's separate" the house pony would look at you and say "Man, you crazy. What you mean separate? Where is there a better house than this? Where can I wear better clothes than this? Where can I eat better food than this?"
On that same plantation, there was the field pony. The field pony, those were the masses.
There was always more ponies in the field as there were ponies in the house. There, the pony in the field caught hell. He ate leftovers. In the house, they ate fresh apples. The pony in the field didn't get nothin' but apple cores.
He lived in a shack, in a hut.
He hated his master. I say, he hated his master. He was intelligent. That house pony loved his master. But that field pony, remember, they were in the majority, and they hated their master. When the house caught on fire, he didn't try to put it out, that field pony prayed for a wind. For a breeze. When the master got sick, the field pony prayed that he died. If someone come to the field pony and said "Let's separate, let's run." He didn't say "Where we going?" he said "Any place is better than here".

Ugh these comments are disheartening. It's a little dark humor but come on.
ReplyDeleteColts hold a variety of respectable positions just as often as mares. Just look at Hoity Toity or Quills and Sofas or the Wonderbolts... it's just not really important to the mane narrative.
Equestria is a better place. Mac probably went through an experience like AJ did before realizing he was happy on the farm. I mean why not? Tons of beautiful land, sense of responsibility, solid place in a good community. Familial love is a lot tighter and neighbors act like good folk instead of treating you with paranoia and disdain. So it's probably less like servitude and more like doing the chores. Holiday trolling aside.
I'm betting that plane was at the bottom of the bag, but I guess I'm being optimistic.
Nevermind there probably aren't airplanes in Equestria. Just sayin'.

This reminds me of the first time I played Minecraft with my friends.

Friend:"Well, Kevin has gone off to make a house out of ice on the side of a mountain, while I'm build a massive lighthouse to add to our old house."
Me:"Awesome. What do I get to do?"
Friend:*Long pause* "We need a garden."
The next 5 hours with me looking after various gardens around the level, while everyone else did awesome things.
Poor Little Big Mac... He should have become a boxer.

ReplyDeleteI can tell most here have never lived on a farm.
ReplyDeleteMost farm children growup with the life, and the work, often thay want to help, to do something, to show themselves capable. Gotta remember, there is, far as I have seen, no nintindo, no game rooms, no amusments that your used to. Thay eather did things with there friends, or did 'chores', or did nothing at all.
And when you live far out of town, well, there are not very many people around for you to play with, or too many things for one to do, other than chores and the like.
The comic was a bit dark in its humor, and again, I expect was drawn by someone whos never really lived on a farm.
What Mac wants isn't an airplane like WE know, he wants an air plane to shape wood better.

ReplyDelete@AlyeskabirdWell, this is mostly just dark humor (and I console myself with the thought that Big Mac ended up spending his nights with half the fillies in Ponyville; really, aside from Caramel, are there any other stallions in the town?) but I agree.
