I really like this idea. Can't wait to see how you pull this off. The funny thing is, I'm currently writing a story with a similar concept. I'm almost finished with the first chapter, so hopefully it will be posted soon.

Hmm. Interesting idea. Kudo's for giving Pinkie Twilight's magic. Now we just need somepony to not come to her party and unimaginable carnage will ensue.
ReplyDeleteDialogue could use some work here and there. And Rainbow gives in WAY to quickly. Her wings are what she is, its her essence. She should at the very least make Twilight promise nothing bad is going to happen to them (before the spell is cast).

I don't see what everyone's panicking about. So Pinkie Pie has access to magic. What could POSSIBLY go wrong? She's a very level headed and self-restrained pony. Everything should be cleanly and efficiently wrapped up post haste with a minimum of wasteful distractions.

ReplyDeleteHere's a tip, though, if I may offer some help: please put more space between different characters' dialogue; making separate paragraphs would help it flow a bit better, in my opinion.

ReplyDeleteDon't like colgate as it is refering to a specific brand of an item. I mean why call her Colgate over Aquafresh etc.? Why is this brand better than the other. Who does toothpaste relate to her cutie mark?
ReplyDeleteI KIND OF like Romana better because of the Doctor Who reference, but now that I've seen the episode "The Doctors's Wife" Idris or The TARDIS may be better as she is blue like The TARDIS.
I like the concept of everypony swapping powers, especially if Pinkie ends up with Twilight's magic. I also find the whole "magic buildup" concept quite fascinating. However, there are many spelling and grammar errors present that in my eyes hold the story back from earning five stars. They're easily fixable; mend the spelling and grammar and you've got a winning story.

When the Doctor (Doctor Who) was banished on Earth he took on the name 'John Smith', because he couldn't just say 'I am the Doctor' and before anybody gives him the eyes simply fly away witht he Tardis (because he couldn't use it, when he was banished).

Easy as that.
Personally, I loved the idea. But you made grammar mistakes at every turn (ie didn't put commas where they should be- that irritates me a lot XD) and Pinkie Pie acted very out-of-character. And Pinkie Pie IS the best pony.. so fix it! XD

I still disagree with the schizophrenic/mpd characterization of Pinkie, but you've really done a magnificent job with it. The only thing that can scare a Pinkie Pie is a Pinkie Pie.

ReplyDelete-in terms of grammar? I do get it proof read but if anyone can point out any bits they missed I would gladly make the required alterations.
-In terms of Pinkie Pie's character? Hopefully the Effect of being totally helpless can go some way to explain this change, I have always seen pinkie as being a quite insecure and vulnerable character when on her own (as seen in party of one her fear of loneliness sent her insane).
-As for Colgate/Romona? I asked them to change the picture to something a little more fitting.

ReplyDeleteThat is indeed, correct. I tried to make sure no one get a straight swap and that no two species got the same thing.
Rarity and Fluttershy haven't had a chance yet to use their new abilities but using the process of elimination and the fact fluttershy has a white horn you can work that out from there.
It's a well done story, totally five-stars!

couldn't Fluttershy use Rarity's magic to turn Spike back to normal?
As Fluttershy is good with animals, and Rarity's magic is about fashion... a beak on a dragon is quite unfashionable.
