That was great. Turning on Sinatra in the background at the right moment really helped set the mood. I wish we had more of this kind of fanfiction rather than a glut of shipfics.

I'm not sure Loved It is a strong enough rating for this story. This is the first fic I've read on here that I know I'll re-read someday. I enjoyed Twilight October, but this was something else entirely. <3

ReplyDeleteI always like happy!Luna fics, but the addition of a well characterized Sweetie Belle (I dislike her in canon, but I really like her in this fic, a feat all by itself) and some good song choices made this good fic even better!

ReplyDeleteThere are some aspects of the writing craft you could use polish on. Specifically, dialog tags seem to be an issue. Also, sentence and paragraph structure repetition began to stick out to me and nearly interfered with my enjoyment.
ReplyDeleteBut the good news is that these aspects are easy to learn.
The better news is I found a lot more to enjoy about this fic than I can possibly find to complain about. The true emotional core of this story is very strong, and as you can see by your star rating, it is reaching a ton of people. I, myself, was thoroughly heartwarmed and very glad I took the time to read this. You also had good moments of description that shows you have that wordsmithing ability, if you need only a little more polish.
So, I rate it 4/5, as it only lacked that polish that will come with a little learning of the writing craft. If you had a good editor who could spot that stuff for you, you can easily make 5/5 stories.

Great fanfic. Written pretty well, characters were done nicely, the emotion was simple but captivating, as was the purpose, the pace was good...just great overall, one of the best on this site. 4 Stars.

ReplyDeleteI don't think there is anything wrong with Luna being less timid and apologetic. She may be behind the times by 1000 years, but it is still safe to assume she had a good 100+ years before that to learn to ups and downs of siblings.

This was sweet, and nicely done. Reminded me a bit of Sisterhooves Social in a way, only with some of Celestia & Luna's relationship explored as well. I wish they'd go into that in the show! Ah, well, at least we have fanfics to help with that. ;)
