What happened to the villains of G4 in the wake of G5? Where did the statue go? What about the Windigos? Will Discord ever be anything other than a plotline for the comics?
It seems to me like the statue is just gone. It could still exist and be forgotten about, but I don't think it's there anymore. It's easy to say that perhaps the writing team on G5 just didn't think about it (and it's probably true x_x), but where's the fun in that? To me it seems like the statue was undone at some point and they were defeated again, and maybe all sent to Tartarus (what ever happened to that as well?). For the Windigos, idk. It would have just made way too much sense for them to have been the struggle in G5 when the races were fighting I guess so of course they didn't use them.

The 8th episode of the second chapter of Friendship is Tragic is out now! Have the description:
After the Diomedes Invasion and Princess Luna's dramatic repelling of it to save her kingdom and avenge her sister, everypony in Equestria is in mourning. They have no reason to question the official version of events. And even if they did, what would it change? Celestia, the only princess anyone has ever known, is dead and her sister has taken the throne even though she is nowhere near as good a ruler. In fact, Luna's reign proves to be not only not as good, but downright bad for some citizens. These include the Apple family, who have just endured the worst harvest in their entire history, whose finances are stricken by the taxes Luna just raised to pay for restoring Canterlot, and who might not be able to survive without help from friends. Unfortunately, as Applejack is coming to realise, her own growing bitterness over the cards life has dealt her may end the few friendships she has left.
