Thousands fought for a place among the elite, while thousand more fought merely to keep them from their goal. Every victory won was nothing more than a fleeting moment among the chaos, but there was one pony caught among these ever shifting tides of war who desired something greater.
Blinding sparks assaulted his eyes as a jagged blade cut across the rim of his tarnished helmet, but he never slowed. He charged, shoulders hunched, head low, a sealed scroll clenched tight between his teeth, directly toward his goal; a broken spire, once great and tall, silhouetted against the burning sky.
The heavy chime of a clock rang out from some distant place, forcing a moment of silence as the inhabitants of the battlefield all stopped to listen. To him it was a harsh noise that reminded him of how small a window of opportunity he really had.
As the chime faded the lone pony burst through the broken tower’s door. Stumbling up stairs and jumping over gaps, he climbed higher. As the throne came into view he drew his sword, and without a moment’s hesitation thrust it forward with all his might, piercing the throne’s back, and the heart of the pony who occupied it—or so he thought.
There was a sudden rumbling, and something heavy fell from above. He cried out as the weight of it forced him to the ground. With a deafening CRACK his ever reliable helmet broke clean in half. The world spun as he tried to stand, but he could not. A pile of debris rested on top of him that pinned him in place. As he struggled to free himself a dark voice bubbled up from the throat he had only moments before attempted to silence, whispering in his ear.
“Did you think me defeated?” it taunted. “Did you think that I, the king of this place, would so easily give up my power?”
“Power is fleeting,” he replied, trying to make himself sound strong despite his circumstances. “What I do, I do for a higher cause.”
“There are no ‘higher causes’ in this land any longer,” The voice laughed, finally taking form. A figure, cloaked in shadows of anonymity walked into his field of view, greedily stroking his throne as he looked down on the helpless pony before him. With a flick of his hoof he casually ripped the sword from the seat. “Tell me,” he mused, “what was this great cause you fought for?”
“I fight…” the lone pony said, holding his treasured scroll out as his opponent prepared to deliver the killing blow. Suddenly he broke the scroll’s seal, and a blinding light rushed forth. The rubble was blown away as a wall of text erupted from the page, stripping the shadows from his adversary and tearing the sword from his hoof. Rushing forward, the lone pony shoved the throne from the tower’s edge, “FOR THE LULZ!”
“NOOOOOO!” the once great king cried, jumping after it. The pony did not look away as king and throne met with the unforgiving ground below. Instead he let out a grateful sigh. His mission was finally accomplished.
“What have you done?!” cried a fearful pony, as he approached the ledge.
“I have killed the kings and brought an end to their reign!” he exclaimed. “This land need no longer be ruled by whatever tyrant can claim the throne the fastest!”
“But… who shall rule us now?” another voice called.
The lone pony looked down, eyes blazing. “I may not be the strongest, or the wisest, or the bravest,” he said to his subjects, “but I shall be the first.”
#1 Very interesting. My only beef with it is Dash on the guitar/bass is so over used.
#2 Hell if I even know what this is. But it put a smile on my face.
#3 Take note people. THIS is how you make a PMV! Great song, great editing, great shots used, great effects. Definitely going on the top PMV list for March.
@Chicken Vortex As with everyone else, I find 'firsters' annoying. But dang! That, good sir, was /brilliant/. (And oh, I cracked up when I realized the true purpose of the post!) Mad props to you, seriously. *throws tons of respect your way* That first is truly worthy.

A Tout le Monde?
ReplyDeleteDOTH MINE EYES DECEIVE ME?
I was wondering about that. If Tom Sawyer wasn't posted already, it sure took them long enough.
ReplyDeleteAlso, kudos to Scootnado up there for the most elaborate first I have ever seen in my life.

ReplyDeleteMaregadeth, the most kick flank thrash band in the whole of Equestria.
ReplyDeleteA Tout le Monde?
ReplyDeleteIf that's the song I think it is, OH MY GOD!!! YES!
I'm willing to kind of forgive Mustaine's recent douchebaggery for this PMV.

I can't not respect that first. Just, all of my respect. All of it. You, good sir, I will bow to.
ReplyDeletealways time for MEGADETH!
ReplyDeleteI see they used the version with Lacuna Coil's Christina Scabbia, which IMO is superior to the original arrangement. I approve.
ReplyDeleteIf there was any doubt that Megadeth is better than Metallica, just add ponies and Lacuna Coil.
