Everypony, put on your dancing... uh... horseshoes, because it's Celebration Time! Bronies For Good's charity project, "Smile!", closed it's doors to the tune of $26,000 in one month's time. As you may recall, I was here the other week telling you that the 21k they'd pulled in for the Children's Cancer Association was 'stupid huge', so you can imagine the kind of face I'm making seeing their grand total (hint: it looks like =D). Congratulations to them, congratulations to everypony who donated, and congratulations to the CCA for all of this. Well done! Read all about it here.
And hey, that amount means that the charity has 9 prizewinners. And if your name is N. Edwards or A. Swaw, you've totally won something! You should get into contact with broniesforgoodgmail.com to resolve whatever submission derpage there was when you donated and claim those things!
Just as a reminder, but Bronies for Good is also gearing up for their next charitable event, the wonderfully named Seeds of Kindness, which aims to partner with the group Your Siblings and fund their goals of producing and emergency clinic in Uganda and a green village in Burundi. Right now, helping out means creating charity incentives. If you make music, work with My Little Remix and get some new pony songs in by February 29. If you're an artist of any kind, go get to work and flood their inbox with art (instead of mine, for a change!). If you've got unredeemed Steam Games or something lying around that others might find cool, donate it so they can be offered as prizes. These are the sorts of things that really put our community in a positive light, so take the chance to make us all proud!

ReplyDeleteI'm proud to say I donated to Bronies for Good.

:)
That is such awesome news. Glad i donated. Made me feel really good when i got my email from the group who recieved my donation, and a picture of the little ones who were so happy. Their smiles were all i wanted to see.
ReplyDeleteGood job everypony who was involved with the project. :) we are well one our way to proving Bronies are Good.
Im so proud of our community! Bronies can make anything possible!
ReplyDelete@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteSame here.
I gotta be more aware of these things.
ReplyDeleteThis is why I love you guys so much. We've raised thousands of dollars for charity, talked people back from suicide, and what have the haters done? Jack shit. More people like you lot in the world and we're on the way to world peace.
ReplyDeletePony hard, people.
Glad I made a contribution to this now, it's always nice to be part of something grand.
ReplyDeleteOn an unrelated note, SHED.MOV has been out for over 2hrs and still no news on it...
Well, anyone that wants to know anything about album #2: Seeds of Kindness should visit the MyLittleRemix thread about it here:

ReplyDeleteI am proud of this community
ReplyDeleteI love this community. <3
ReplyDelete@The_Lizard_Queen
ReplyDeleteI'm sure EQD is very, very aware of that. At this point, there's definitely a reason behind it.
As for this this news, this is freaking fantastic and I can only hope the next charity only generates more money for those in need. Thanks so, so much for everything involved in this project. You're all seriously the best thing ever.
Huh this explains why my "Check me out Bonbon" on DA started gaining favs ^ _ ^
ReplyDeleteBTW Awesome news, GO BRONIES
Wow, $26,000. That deserves a pat on the back from all the individuals who helped make it such a huge success. Really nice to see so much great charity work being done in the community. I hope the next charity event with Your Siblings is just as successful.
ReplyDeleteA job, well done, gentlemen.
ReplyDeletea job well done...

ReplyDeleteand this is why I say I'm proud to be a brony
ReplyDelete@ChaosMedler
ReplyDeleteShut up.
The CCA had as a goal to gather a total of $100.000. to fully fund that particular project. We can safely say that we have given more than a 1/4 of that sum. What has been proven by all of ths? When enough people have the right mindset and act on it, great things can be accomplished.
ReplyDeleteHow many fandoms does this sort of thing? Ever heard of one? I sure haven't. Bronies are expressing their love for the world. I am proud to be a brony.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a good positive bit of news. It's a welcome sight.
ReplyDeleteI say we all pitch in to sustain a small 3rd world country in Europe - giving them food, education, health care, etc. (if we raised 26000 dollars here, we can definately sustain it)
ReplyDeleteAnyways, once the people in the village are taken care of, we'll rename the village Ponyville, build statues of ponies, and a giant wall guarded by members who will wear the appropriate royal guard attire.
We shall educate them with the ways of friendship. Eventually, they will use the magic of friendship and make friends with the neighboring communities, making them part of the brony movement as well. Chain effect naturally occurs, and eventually everyone in Africa will know about friendship and will work together to lift the country from poverty
TL;DR Make Africans bronies and solve world hunger.
AFter all the mind-numbing drama that's been plaguing the brony community as of late, news such as these are a much-welcomed breath of fresh air.
ReplyDeleteTo all those who participated in this, I tip my hat off to you.
Sigh...amazing...just awesome.
ReplyDelete*slow applause*
ReplyDeleteWell done bronies. My faith in the community has been mostly restored.
If only I had monies to give...
Finally some good news today! See this is the kind of stuff that can give us a good name amidst all the crazyness.
ReplyDeleteI know that trolls are generally pretty inhuman, but somebody's gotta think to themselves:
"Ill show those ponyfags, how dare they help kids with cancer!"
I will probably donate to one of these charities once I am more certain of my own financial future.
ReplyDeleteWho's got the party canon!
ReplyDeleteAHHHH!!! Nopony told me about this! Oh well, just gotta donate for the next one! :D
ReplyDeleteThis is good news. Like many fellow bronies here, I placed a substantial amount of money, time, and faith in this organization.
ReplyDeleteI pray our contributions are used wisely.
I'm proud I was part of this by donating, it's such an amazing figure and well done to everyone who donated, you're all awesome!
ReplyDeleteThis is why the brony community is amazing. Sure we have the fanfiction, the plushies, and even our own conventions, as well as the infighting and the trolls, just like many other fan communities. But I don't recall any other fan community going through such astounding lengths to give as much as the brony community.
ReplyDeleteIt's still mind-boggling to me how all of this is caused by a pony cartoon. How is that even possible?
There are wonderful things in this world you just can't explain, but that doesn't necessarily make them any less true. It just means you have to choose to believe in them.
This is what I love about the community. It's sad but true that we have all the usual infighting and quarrels that all fandoms have (although we are nicer about it, for what it's worth) but we also really do believe in what this show says about kindness and generosity. If this all turns out to be a fad (I hope not) and falls apart in a year then I'll be happy to be part of something that gave $26,000 to something good.
ReplyDelete26,000? that's a brand new impreza WRX. holy crap.
ReplyDelete@PonyPonyPonyBrony
ReplyDeleteYeah, we have infighting, but its pretty tame compared to most groups. Ive been part of many other forums and large chunks of their communities are jokes.
Also, just to give some contrast, i do know a few "anti-bronies" in real life. They are um... how to say, very low on the iq scale. Very closed minded individuals who, as far as im aware, have done nothing meaningful with their lives.
I think its hillarious how much rage they gear towards people with non-standard interests. Maybe if they redirected some of that energy, they could *move out of their parents basment since theyre almost 30*.
No, im not kidding. So just remember the next time youre being trolled that its most likley people like this who are doing it.
I don't know how I missed this... but I was super glad to see they still actually have the event running for a few more days, so I could still chip my own part in!
ReplyDeleteWell done everyone, this makes me so proud to be a brony.
Yay, I helped. Feels good.
ReplyDeleteLyra? Does she look twisted to anyone else?
ReplyDeleteLyra? Does she look twisted to anyone else?
ReplyDeleteI remember back on MLR when we were discussing the concept of a charity album. I don't think any of us expected it to succeed anywhere near as much as it did.
ReplyDeleteGreat job to all involved with the project. Bronies for Good, My Little Remix, and all the donators and prize gifters! You all helped bring this number to what it is, and brought more positive light on the community as a whole.
It's common to lose faith in a community when infighting and drama occurs. Just don't let it make you forget all the good we've accomplished as well!
As soon as I saw this, I caught the charitable spirit. Wish I knew about the last project, still some awesome results, good job!
ReplyDelete@Bill VII
ReplyDeleteHeck yes!
Damn, I wish I could've donated.
