ReplyDeleteI don't like the "it was all a dream" or "it was all hallucinated" story lines, at all, in any form. I shan't read this. In my head, Pinkie will stay happy and her life will remain filled with parties until the end of time.

@professional brony Cupcakes wasn't my first. "Newsworthy" was my first fanfic, mostly because it was one of the stories posted the very first day I came here. And like they say, the rest is history. Been reading fanfics ever since :D

I was my first time trying to write at all (except for a horrible Yu-Gi-Oh! fanfic I wrote in 4th grade).
Be warned, I work very slowly. The next chapter probably won't be out for another month at least.

Yeah, this chapter took about 2 months to get honed to "perfection." I do have some good ideas for the next chapter though. It will be a good mindbuck. Dunno. Have to balance real life with this, but I'll try to get it written in a timely manner.

Not a fan usually myself, but the description made me think I'd want to read it. So far, I wonder. It almost seems, to me, that Pinkie somehow dimension hopped and ended up in a different version of Pinkie who had been in a coma for many years. That's in fact the exact premise of at least two or three fanfics I've read before.
....unless there's some other explanation of how Pinkie actually knows everything about Ponyville. I do wonder about the whole lack of Eternal Night thing, though.

ReplyDeletelol yea, they never *said* it was AIDS in the story, but I thought it was really really funny to pretend that it was (♫EVERYPONY HAS AIDS!♫), especially considering that there is a IRL equine equivalent to the HIV virus. And really, damn near every fictional "weirdo exotic disease" invented in the past 30 years is influenced by the AIDS epidemic in some fashion.

ReplyDeleteNope. Not one single line of Scootabuse will exist in this story. I tried to make that apparent with RD bringing Scoots to the hospital. But Scootaloo will appear again. Every reference has a reason.
Pinkie's knowing of Equestria as it almost is will be a major theme. I'm going to milk the "same but different" trope of alternate-universe for all it's worth.

I haven't exactly figured out all details (especially that one), but it probably won't be that. It would be too sad to leave Pinkie stranded in this universe knowing that the other universe still exists. I also am not a great lover of dimension-hopping fics (even though I loved 'On a Cross and Arrow'), it just makes magic seem too powerful if they can cross dimensions.
Now back to rewriting Equestria's history! (jk)

Color me interested. I can handle sadness in small doses. If things get wrapped up in a way that's not abysmal, even I might be able to handle this.

ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm planning on having a happy ending (even though I have no idea what it will be), I also get more away from plain sad and do world building in later chapters. Dunno, all of us (including me) will just have to wait and see where it takes us.

ReplyDeleteA lot of the background themes in FiM are actually qite sad when you think about it. Everything surrounding Luna, the fact the Princesses and Spike will outlive the Mane 6, any plausible backstory for Trixie, Gilda and Dash's friendship falling apart, any plausible explanation for the Diamond Dogs activities, the likely explanation for the Apple parents absence, the fact that all of the Mane 6 have some sort of more serious than average psychological problem plus personality flaw, the entire Gala episode, Spike's forever to be unrequieted interspecies crush, and more.
Yet with all these sad undertones the show remains upbeat, uplifting, entertaining, varied, and inventive.
That's why I like some sad but don't appreciate pure SadFics.
