ReplyDeleteOk, this is awesome.
ReplyDeleteOh my stars, this is splendid.
ReplyDeleteSweet. These may prove useful!
ReplyDeleteHoly Luna, this will prove to be joyous reading. I shall see you all around midnight or so.
ReplyDeleteSigning out, Kruegershy

ReplyDeleteROFL
This is relevant to my interests...
ReplyDeleteWow this would have taken a bloody long time, great work and thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOh my god, I was actually searching for you on the Interbutt earlier today. Fancy that!
ReplyDeleteI salute you Alan Back
ReplyDelete@Applebloomismywaifu
Your regin of firsts is over
Wow. That description. Phoe, you are a poet.
ReplyDeleteGreat work, not only at making a complete script for the series, but also infusing just enough energy to make the whole so fun to read. Some comments on the events are pure comedy gold.
ReplyDeleteOh god, where the hell did he get the time?
ReplyDeleteGod I missed Phoe's style in post descriptions. Seth's announcements are so blunt by comparison.
ReplyDeleteHow long did it take to do this?
ReplyDeleteUnbelievable. This will certainly come in handy for those moments where it seems like somepony is babbling unintelligibly. Hats off to this Alan Back person.
ReplyDeleteHahaha, the episode where Lyra sits on a bench!
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, this is awesome!
This...
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful.
I was about to complain that it was an exact copy of this, but then I realized that it's full-on scripts, so I have to give some congratulations to this guy.
ReplyDeleteOk, this is impressive! Very dedicated indeed!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
wow, i cant even sum up an amount of that dedication.
ReplyDeleteI used to think Phoe was annoying. Used to. But not anymore, because that was beautifully written. I can just picture the deadpan, slightly strained face she must have made as she wrote that.
ReplyDeleteOh Phoe, I absolutely love your whimsical way of writing words.
ReplyDelete"Wrapped in gold and .pdf"
"Clad in a new form called Google Docs"
Those two part gave me a good chuckle.
Anyway, dang. For all the episodes too. That's quite the undertaking.
If only the MLP wiki would allow me to write transcripts this detailed. Sadly, these are not transcripts, they are full scripts.
ReplyDeleteRespect
ReplyDeleteThe title of this post reminded me of The Mysterious Ticking Noise for some reason xD
ReplyDeleteAw sweet, I'll read all the episodes without complaining =D
ReplyDeleteOh my that's amazing
ReplyDeletePhoe! For some reason after your hostile take over I thought we'd never see you again...and I honestly haven't, but then again I'm not always the most observant pony around.
ReplyDeleteAnyways this is awesome! I will file these away immediately incase I for whatever reason need them! Thanks to the Pony responsible, you must have worked your flank off doing this.
These saved my life in Basic Training... :P (No internet, no television, no books, just transcripts sent via letter... :3).
ReplyDeleteMagnificent work.
ReplyDeleteSuch dedication is commendable. Nice work sir.
ReplyDeleteMother of God...
ReplyDeleteSo much hard work...
I may shed a tear...
Impressive. Most impressive.
ReplyDeleteDat everything
ReplyDeleteThe episode where Trixie averts a nuclear disaster. No wait. That also didn't happen.
ReplyDeleteDat Rarity! She's so pretty!
You know what, this is cool. I've been thinking of writing something in google docs, maybe if i do I'll write it in script-form.
ReplyDeleteWhen you think in pictures, it's hard to write just boring words on paper. -_- Screen, sorry.
But this makes it easy to picture the scene in your head. I like it.
Damn now I need to find time to get the Season 2 Scripts
ReplyDeleteI took a look and suddenly I can't stop myself from watching an episode again. It's condensed Pony!
ReplyDeleteThat episode where Lyra sits on a bench
ReplyDeleteI'm naming that episode as that.
My hats off to this guy.
ReplyDeletemost useful.
ReplyDeletethanks
I prefer the MLP FiM wiki, but thanks anyway. :P
ReplyDelete@lexaeuss
ReplyDeleteWhy? This is so much crisper and more detailed. I don't think all that work should be devalued like that...
MLP wiki is top 1, poll destroyed xD
ReplyDeleteThis is why Phoe is best blog pony. I read that and felt more intelligent than i should. It weird. Should...should i be scared?
ReplyDeleteThis is now required reading for everyone I know.
ReplyDeleteas soon as i read "That Episode Where Lyra Sits on a Bench" i knew it was Phoe
ReplyDeleteThis is a whopping big pile of awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your hard work on these!
ReplyDeleteExcellent work on these! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWUT. THE. FUCK.
ReplyDeleteThis brony is now god tier.
I've noticed one error so far: In "The Ticket Master", where Rarity says (in her imagination spot) "Of course I would say... YES!", "yes" is misspelled as "TES!" T and Y are right next to each other on the keyboard, so this typo is easily fixed.
ReplyDeleteThis is relevant to my interests.
ReplyDeleteAmazing work. I applaud you once more, Alan. Thanks for transcribing the S2 episodes too ^^
ReplyDeleteAlan, Magnificent! Thanks!
ReplyDeletePhoe, what a description. Wow! You are poetic indeed. Bravo.
@edock
ReplyDeleteRaiders of the Lost Story Arc...
Pinkamina Jones and the Brony Grail...
That's the level of fandom treasure we have here. :3
@Phoe
ReplyDeleteMmm, I was reading the article and thinking "Didn't FiM wiki already do that?"
Then I looked over a script and realised it looks exactly like a play manuscript from classical studies and realised how awesome this looks.
When do we get "Family Appreciation Day"? About how long does it take to finish a full transcript of one episode?
ReplyDelete@Jordan
ReplyDeleteDepends on how busy I get during the week. I can usually bang out the first pass in a few days, but I like to wait until the ep goes up on The Hub's website to do the final check.
@Alan: The whole thing's on YouTube, you know. Why do you have to do a final check with The Hub's video, which is exactly the same?
ReplyDelete@Jordan
ReplyDeleteI like to wait for the Hubworld videos so I can check the transitions at the end of each segment. The YouTube videos sometimes cut them off abruptly due to commercials being edited out by whoever encoded them.
@Alan: Have you completed any of episodes 12-14 yet? Maybe you have but this blog post hasn't been updated.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot! Just what I was looking for!
ReplyDelete@Jordan

Now that Derpy has lost her name and gotten a new voice in "The Last Roundup," I should probably go back and fix up that transcript.

The "chubby grey colt" has an fan-voted/chosen name: Truffle Shuffle. Can you change this in the script? "Filly 2" has been popularly fan-named as "Noi". The colt running the printing press for most of the episode has the name "Shady Daze". http://mlp.wikia.com/wiki/Transcripts/Ponyville_Confidential http://mlp.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_ponies/Foals
ReplyDeleteYou've used fan names in the past, with little underlines to set them apart. I just thought I would let you know about these names.
Also, "Filly 1" is "Berry Pinch".
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to fan-named characters, I generally hold off on adding names to the scripts until I see them either have more than one notable appearance or play a significant supporting/speaking part in an episode. This is so I don't get bogged down in describing a huge cast of background characters.
ReplyDeleteSince all three of the other newspaper staff members (Truffle, Shady, Ruby) did show up prominently, I've put their names in. Noi doesn't qualify yet. I prefer the name "Ruby Pinch" in order to avoid confusion with Berry Punch, if I ever need to go back and put that name in.
Sherlock Holmes, Sam Spade, Nero Wolfe, Hercule Poirot, Auguste Dupin...none of them can hold a candle to the brain under that fluffy mane!

ReplyDelete@garciarael
ReplyDeletePatience, grasshopper. It's been a busy week or two, but I'm slowly working my way through this doubleheader. If all goes well (and if my two nieces don't tear the house apart), I should have the lot finished by this weekend.
And then maybe Phoe will finally update this post, or make a new one. When you finish season two, that's definitely something to e-mail her about.
ReplyDeleteA CANTERLOT WEDDING, PART ONE
ReplyDeletehttps://docs.google.com/document/d/1lKjSoUwJXhkTn5rKlwjBT5-sCQ4GUCNMSpPf1mKyh98/edit
The weekend was busier than I expected, but things have calmed down now. Part Two will be done tomorrow night.
For most of the second half of this seasion, I've been adding a joke or wisecrack ahead of my posts to announce new transcripts. Not here; this one runs on such a grand scale that it doesn't need a clown like me as the lead-off.
A CANTERLOT WEDDING, PART TWO

And that's a wrap! Now I'm going to put away my earphones and tape recorder and take a nice long break. This project has been going for 10 months, and it's going to feel a little weird to not have a new episode to dig into each week.
Those of you who are going to BronyCon, look for me if you like. I'll be the big tall blond guy with ice packs strapped to both hands. Those of you who aren't, look for a whole new batch of words once Season 3 gets rolling.
Time to update this post, Phoe! Update and bump like you would a story, or make a new post!
ReplyDeleteOld commenting system...WE MEET AGAIN!
ReplyDeleteYay! All up to date! Thanks, Phoe!
ReplyDeleteThis thread title is deceiving...I was expecting actual scripts from the show. Which would be so awesome. :-/
ReplyDelete@Raefire
ReplyDeleteI'd think the ACTUAL scripts would be a little...um, hard to get. I don't think a studio would just openly publish things like that.
"That episode where Lyra..." *Checks which staff member posted the entry.*
ReplyDeletePhoe. Of course. :)
Truly awesome <3 Thank you studio B
ReplyDeleteFirst thing I did, was check to see if Derpy was mentioned in the "Last Roundup".
ReplyDeleteThank you Alan Back, for taking the time and effort to do this.
and then there was much rejoicing
ReplyDeleteAll hail Alan Back!
ReplyDeleteOf all the best things that could possibly happen, this is The. Best. Possible. THING!
ReplyDelete@Nostalgia Schmaltz
ReplyDeleteYou'd be surprised. I have .pdfs of the scripts for the Kim Possible episodes "Steal Wheels" and "Ill-Suited" on my HD, after the writers were authorized to release them on one of the old KP fanboards.
Ah the good old commenting system ......ok I'm board back to the new system...wait I need to say something about this post
ReplyDeleteITS AWESOME
Now back to the new system
Downloading all of these. and reading them until the next season comes

ReplyDeleteSir, I salute you.
ReplyDeleteI am saddened by my inability to thumbs up every single thing here.
ReplyDeleteAn Internet-full of gratitude to you, sir.
ReplyDeletethis is absolutely perfect for writing fan-fics. thank you Alan Back
ReplyDeleteThe Last Rounderp. I C wut u did there.
ReplyDeleteBlogger system? How old is this post?
I still prefer the Wiki, because they upload the transcripts within a day.
ReplyDelete"That episode where Lyra sits on a bench"
ReplyDelete"That episode where Lyra talks"
XD
GREAT SCOTT!
ReplyDeleteNow I can prove through SCIENCE that Applejack is BEST PONY!!
Agh, it's the old commenting system. Every time I see it I appreciate IntenseDebate more.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, those scripts are pretty awesome. It's a bit too long to quote in its entirety, but the Fluttertree conversation remains one of my favorite scenes of all time.
Rainbow Dash: Psst! Pinkie Pie! You asleep yet?
Pinkie Pie: No. Are you asleep yet?
Rainbow Dash: If I was sleeping, how could I have asked you if you were asleep?
Pinkie: Oh, yeah! (Giggle)
Oh yes, I remember this guy and all his scripts. He must put so much time and work into these. Hats off to him for all the effort he puts into them. :)
ReplyDeleteThis old commenting system gets weirder and weirder.
ReplyDeleteIt really makes me like IntenseDebate even more.
This is a helpful script set though, so I'm pretty happy that it's out there!
This is FANTASTIC! I'm writing a MLP:FiM video game and this will come in real handy, especially with Applejack's parts.
ReplyDeleteHALLELUJAH!
ReplyDeleteAnyone know of a way to download them all at once as a .pdf file. I tried through google docs but my internet hates me.
ReplyDeleteReally? Are you that obsessed with Lyra, Alan?
ReplyDelete@Matiaszeblahman2816
ReplyDeleteI can truthfully claim innocence on those two bits--but you have to admit that's funny. Ditto with "The Last Rounderp."
@KyraThePsychotic
When I started sending in these transcripts back in September, I did them as PDF's. The only problem with that idea comes when I have to do corrections or touch-ups. Google Docs has made that job so much easier.
Drop me an e-mail and I'll see about doing up PDF's for you--may take me a couple of days to work through the bunch.
@Pink Champagne Well, I guess in this format you just save it to your Pc and then you don't need Internet to read them.
ReplyDeleteAlso, a quick glance at the other comments seems to indicate that they aren't simple transcripts, but full play-like scripts.
"The Last Rounderp"
ReplyDeleteOh god lol
I skimmed this article while I was here on EqD, then went to some other websites. A while later, I went on a PPG wiki, and saw that this Alan guy wrote a bunch (if not all) of the scripts for that site. I had to check back here to make sure I wasn't imagining things. Man, bronies are awesome.
ReplyDelete@Pink Champagne: The wiki scripts are faster, but they're not as detailed. They're just what's said plus mouth sounds that are heard. No stage directions or descriptions.
ReplyDelete@Matiaszeblahman2816: Phoe was the one who typed up the post at the top, not Alan. Alan just created the documents she linked to.
ReplyDeleteHuzzah! The availability of the awesomeness of the show has been doubled!
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! These will be a great boon for... everything! Making sure I get the phrasing right on a reference, overanalyzing a particular line of dialogue, settling a dispute, etc. It will be much faster than having to go back an search for a particular point in an episode.
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice if these were bundled together for easy download. But Alan having spent the time to transcribe all of them, I can't complain too much about having to click a few times to save them. :)
Anywhere i can download these all as a whole? (.zip)?
ReplyDeleteWhat about season three?
ReplyDelete@Vanessa Jones
ReplyDeleteWorking on it. This is the first time since I started doing transcripts that there's been a doubleheader with no break following it. I can usually do one a week, so I'm already a week behind. Work (both at the office and outside it) has kept me pretty busy as well, but I have several days' vacation coming and I'll do my best to catch up.
