ReplyDeleteI find this statement surprisingly accurate XD. I mean, Touhou is a game and MLP is a cartoon obviously, but both Touhou and MLP have a large cast of mostly female characters and produce a large amount of fanmade music and games and just...whoa. It's hardcore.
We need some MLP danmaku games right away.
Eh, not as good as it could've been. The original had really great and inventive transitions, which is what made it awesome. And what's with the pixellation?

ReplyDeleteI think the original Bad Apple was made by silhouetting 3d models, which is why it's so smooth. Plus, the original is really kinetic, and rarely ever stops moving.
But still, this is great! I'd like to see an improved version in the future!

It's awesome! I think the issue is probably is using the long version and filling in the scenes that wasn't in the short shadow version of the song must have been an issue to solve. Unless of course you seen the long version with the beautiful drawn pictures *As I can tell* NIcely well put in. Link to the version I was talking about. (Before The Bad Apple! SHadow version made it popular)

Having now watched the original as well as this one, i have to say i like this one slightly better. But that's only because i actually know who (most) the characters are in this one.

This is really bad compared with the original. It need to be about… nay, it just seriously lacks awesomeness.

ReplyDeleteThis is one video i will always love, since it has both MLP and Touhou. Seriously, fans of MLP are getting even better with crossovers. I have yet to complain about anything other than there are too many shipping stories that I try to avoid.

This was freaking amazing! Probably one of the best fan vids I've seen. This made me geek a little more each time it showed a character it hadn't already. Damn near had everypony in this thing! You rock! (woohoo)

ReplyDeleteThat's an incredible amount of work for a song that long, even with the jerkiness.
Touhou and MLP... considering the fandoms and even some of the characteristics of the series itself, it makes perfect sense for these two to be crossed over.
ReplyDeleteThose who are taken in by how "awkward" the movements are (which even I'll admit are still choppy and I'd love to see them smoothed out) need to go to the youtube link and read the comments by the author. He made a point that his computer ABSOLUTELY SUCKED and was lagging hard on MSPaint. It may be that he simply didn't have the power to make it as well as he'd like at this point. Maybe we'll hear of this again when he has a more polished version ready...

ReplyDeleteThat being said, I felt the whole thing could use about double the frames of animation at least. The movement and transitions felt too choppy for me to fully enjoy it. In its own right, it was okay, but when you do stuff like this, you're going to inevitably be compared to the original, and it fell short in that respect. Hope he tries it again and produces a better product next time. :)
It also might have helped if he used the shortened version of the song used in the Bad Apple! music video, since that would mean he would be able to make better transitions without putting every single character in MLP.
