ReplyDeleteInstantly saved 19 for my desktop collection. I've always been drawn to that subtle, emotionally dynamic genre of fantastical yet withdrawn artwork. The context is just so much detail, and it could be anything from great sadness all through an entire spectrum of feelings to contented warmth. Worth a lot more than merely a thousand words, I can say that much.
Also say no to Tzeentch as < DisQord. Setting that aside, stay true to the royal equilibrium of Celestia and Luna!
Source 19 looks like the cover of a really good fanfic just waiting to happen.

ReplyDeleteThe artist did mention that this scene was taking place as Spike was waking up, so good guess there. As for the alicorn thing, she mentioned that she didn't think ponies would ordinarily live that long, so at least for the sake of this drawing she's assuming that the Elements of Harmony extended the lives of the main 6, turning Twilight (and the others?) into an alicorn as part of the process. I wouldn't take it as canon, but as far as this pic is concerned, it works for me.
We're getting closer to 50 Mil visits. So close.

ReplyDeleteAn anime recently finished an eleven episode run, Usagi Drop, where a thirty-something grandson (Daikichi) of an elderly man who recently died, takes-in a six-something year old (Rin) who was in his care.
Turns out, she is actually the daughter of his grandfather and the maid he had, even though he tried to fire her, who then became an accomplished, though highly stressed and absent-minded manga-ka.
There are very few of them, Daikichi makes some internal-monologes commenting on Rin being his younger-than-him aunt.
And just like that, we have a new ship-WinoMac!

But the more recent generations of Beholders were in fact things of fear, horror, malice, which didn't mesh well with the cuteness and feel of the style, so I opted for the AD&D Beholder, which was a cute round ball and simple in design, and, well, I think it worked ^^
