I keep watching the end of Lesson Zero, and for the life of me I can't convince myself that Big Macintosh didn't deck Lyra in order to secure Smartypants for himself. Seriously, go watch that sequence, I'll wait. If it wasn't him then it had to have been Bon Bon, because they're all right there and she's the only one laid out on the ground holding her face. Makes ya think.
Also, adult Scootaloo is the smuggest looking pony I have ever laid eyes on. Click the comic below and tell me if she ever loses that self-satisfied smirk at any point before the last panel. My goodness.

Family Guy reference anypony?
ReplyDeleteHahaha :)
ReplyDelete3rd :D

ReplyDelete#2 Dammit stop making me feel nostalgic for the show it's only in its 2nd season! ;___;
ReplyDeleteReally like the 2nd
ReplyDeleteBetter Days was sad yet d'awesome.
ReplyDeleteI liked the second one a lot
ReplyDeleteWow my perspective on Big Mac just did a backflip
ReplyDeleteDoesn't look very smug to me, more like halfway between reminiscing and stoned.
ReplyDelete#1 was super cute!
ReplyDelete#2 ...quit reminding me of the passage of time dammit!
So Big Mac's a brony? Big deal.
ReplyDeleteHey, where's Applebloom's cutie mark? She needs some love too!
ReplyDeleteLiked em both :)
ReplyDelete#2 helped after the fic I read yesterday.
ReplyDelete#1. Sneakyjack.*chuckles*
@Black Bite
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, she'll get like 47 cutie marks this Saturday
More Veggie?
ReplyDeleteWin.
Although, it seems he/she really doesn't understand that most ponies squint BOTH eyes when they do so. It makes them look just a bit... Crazy.
Number one reminds me: I let slip that I watch a cartoon that no one would think I would (this one, of course)to a friend, and he's bound out to find out soon enough because he won't rest until he finds the answer.
Best way to break it to him?
Comic #2 = Cue The Wonder Years theme.
ReplyDeleteSo Big Mac, you planning on giving that back to Twilight some time soon?
ReplyDeleteThose Scootaloo comics are making me b'aww to death every time I see one.
ReplyDelete@Jelfes
ReplyDeleteEyyyyNope
As soon as the CMC get their cutie marks... that means they are growing up. *sniff*
ReplyDelete#1: I want a fanmade Smarty Pants plushie. RIGHT NAO
ReplyDelete#2: SMILES AND MANLY TEARS PEOPLE
Yes you know what i did there
I get kinda sad when I think about the ponies all grown up because it makes me realize that the show has to end at some point, and this kind of stuff is "what happens after the fact". =/
ReplyDeleteI still like it, though. I like to wonder "what if" in that sense.
Applebloom's and Scootaloo's mystery cutie marks craftily hidden. Well played.
ReplyDeleteNice vectors too for both comics, quite show realistic.
@Killsteal_Wolf
ReplyDeleteTwilight gets it back when she finally gets the courage to meet him face to face, apologize for the trouble she caused, and then politely asks for a date, I mean, the doll.
Although I'm wondering if his leaving the door open while playing with the doll wasn't some sort of elaborate prank he was pulling on Applejack. Also, did anypony else think he looked a little naked without his harness? I was glad to see the artist had it hanging by the door though.
I'd say there were only two panels where scoots looked smug, only one of them was real smug though. All the other times is just nostalgia or general happiness.
ReplyDelete@dwarfyzEverytime I see the words MANLY TEARS all I can think of is Bang Shishigami crying.
ReplyDeleteAwesome comics are awesome.
ReplyDelete#1 D'aww Big macs being a softy again.
ReplyDelete#2 Is nice though I find it a bit sad.
@DashAttack
ReplyDeleteYa know... By the time the show ends, I think we will have a great enough number of ultra talented-at-vector-animation bronies to carry on the legacy as we see fit. That's the future *I* see anyway. We gain new members with loads of talent everyday. Its only a matter of time before we become self-sustaining.
Ooohhhhh... I'm getting giddy just thinking about it.
*u*
#2 Reminds me too much of the good memories I had before I left for college and all my friends went their separate ways.
ReplyDelete-_-
Two really good comics this time around, though both were awesome for completely different reasons.
ReplyDeleteI must know, does anypony else remember the comic of Scootaloo at Dash's grave? I can't find it for the life of me(not even in my favorites!). Please link it if you find it(the EqD page not the comic itself).
ReplyDelete@ RainyRag
ReplyDeleteHa, that would be awesome. A fanbase so powerful, even the end of the show can't stop it!
@P. Pony Ponyson
ReplyDelete"Best way to break it to him?"
Pragmatically? Remind of him 'My Little Pony' and now tell him to imagine that very cartoon if it was given over the people responsible for Powerpuff Girls with a healthy-dose of feminism: because that's exactly what happened.
And then show him a good clip involving Dash, AJ, or both just throw some cold water over his pre-conceptions. (As characters like those would have been unthinkable in the original cartoon; a friend of mine, a woman and feminist to boot, once initially mistook Dash for a boy due to her demeanour and colour.)
However, if you're a sadist like I am: subject him to "Giggle at the Ghostly" and watch the synapses in his brain burn out one-by-one.
@Jelfes Nevermind, found it, not an EqD image, but totally worthy of being in a drawfriend.
ReplyDeleteBig Mac knocked over Lyra?!?! He must pay. IN BLOOD.
ReplyDeletei just realized: big macintosh is a grown male playing with a pony toy.
ReplyDeletehe's an in-continuity brony!
and that second comic is to freaking awesome. i have to agree with flutterfan: makes me nostalgic for a show still airing. what's with that?
I'll find you, Phoe. And when I do, I will wrench control from your ne'er do well crew. I will.
ReplyDeleteMUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
-is a 7th grader-
"Also, adult Scootaloo is the smuggest looking pony I have ever laid eyes on".
ReplyDeletePhoe, meet Rainbow Dash; Smug pony extraordinaire.

#1 Well lets face it, Applejack could have caught him doing worse...
@Jelfes
ReplyDeleteI know there was a Wonderbolts one aswell that had some amazing vector art.
Im not certain whenever the show will keep living after the official episodes, but I sure hope so, seeing as how powerful the community is. If only the show would get more coverage in real life, Hasbro really needs to establish a larger variety of MLP merchandise and stronger marketing, trends born off the Internet tends to die as quickly as they are born nowadays.
ReplyDeleteBoth comics were great, but #2 was especially touching.
@Jelfes
ReplyDeleteIts a Family Guy reference?
*doesn't remember that cutaway*
@mycutiemarkisagun Either Stewie, Brian, or Peter did it, can't remember which.
ReplyDelete#1 See that coming...
ReplyDelete#2 Love this comic. It's heartwarming...
@Jelfes
ReplyDeleteThis:http://tiny.cc/a7isl
@Tyranoman Yeah, grown up Scootaloo always makes me sad, and happy... sappy.
ReplyDeleteI love all of the ones where Scoots follows in Rainbow's steps.
Panels 2 3 4 6 and 8 are not smug expressions.
ReplyDelete#1 Haha. Dat AJ. Big Mac is just a gentle giant honestly. :)
ReplyDelete#2 Awww, this comic has such a strong nostalgic and kinda melancholy tone to it. So much time and so many things happening as you grow older. Then going back and reflecting on how things once were so long ago. I love things like that. Really great comic.
After reading Transcendence, #2 helped. A LOT.
ReplyDelete@Scary Scott
ReplyDeleteAgree, those are nostalic expresions.
second comics is one of the best things I've seen here
ReplyDelete#1 XDXD
ReplyDelete#2 Awww...Also, Scoot looks badass. Can't wait till they grow up :3
@Lord Bloomberg
ReplyDeleteactually,2 weeks, this week is the Luna episode
*squee*
I actually wouldn't mind the CMC growing up a little in the show. The voices of the girl VAs are going to shift, and I'd rather Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom hit their teens than have to change actors.
ReplyDeleteCrusading was a great way to bring them together, but I feel like their personalities are developed enough now that they don't need an excuse to hang out anymore, they're just friends.
That first comic has to be the best use of beat panels I've seen a long while. Great stuff ^_^
ReplyDeleteThat expression definitely isn't smug, it's lugubrious.
ReplyDeleteAwesome job on the first one, exactly what id expect as a reaction
ReplyDelete@CCCPKiller
ReplyDeleteActually it's 3 weeks as the 4th episode will be reairing twice on both Oct 22 and Oct 29. You'll have to wait a bit longer...
#1 Is basically how most people see bronies, I think.
ReplyDelete#2...
ReplyDeleteAaand queue music!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93jxkqG0gWc
Loving Applejack's expression in the first one when she sneaks another peek!
ReplyDeleteBoth Comics Fantastic!!
ReplyDeleteHah! Hilarious comics. AJ checking twice juuuuuuust to be sure.
ReplyDeleteAlso, sad Scootaloo makes me sad. Don't make me think about the end of ponies, DON'T.
Is it me or does Big mac look naked without the thing around his neck?
ReplyDeleteGah, for crying out loud! Now I've got all the depressing grown up/old pony comics etc stuck in my head! :(
ReplyDeleteI need to go listen to some happy music...
#1 Be true to yourself BM
ReplyDelete#2 HAHA! Appleblossom is still a blank flank
So Big Mac and Smartypants is a Brony reference. That makes so much sense. I thought that Big Mac had a thing for donkeys.
ReplyDeleteWHOEVER IS DRAWING THE ADULT SCOOTLOO DOES QUITE A GOOD JOB AT IT
ReplyDelete@blindredquine to be fair, I think the main reason why he wouldn't want his friend to know is because it's a kid's cartoon and not just because it's for females. It's a little harder to accept than a guy getting into some other show whose target demographic is female, like idk Sex and the City ("my girlfriend loves it!").
ReplyDeleteI mean, I judge my friend for liking Transformers (the cartoons and not just the movies) and she judges me right back for liking My Little Pony. We're obviously both hypocrites but if you can't get acceptance from someone who watches a 22 minute long advert for robot toys, you're probably SOL in gaining wider acceptance for your 22 minute long advert for pony toys.
Another thing is that unlike other hipsterbait cartoons like Adventure Time, everyone in the general public is already familiar with the MLP from their childhoods (back when it wasn't watched by 20-year-old something bronies). I still wouldn't want most of my IRL friends to know I'm an MLP fan because to them, it'd be the same as if I said that I was actively watching Strawberry Shortcut/GI-Joe/Sesame Street. It'd just be too difficult to explain. So of course there are going to be some preconceived notions.
well anyway tl;dr but I really like the second comic. I love seeing comics where the CMC are grown up and look at how mature Scootaloo is now, not shying away from the sappy heartwarming stuff :)
at #2 DON'T DON'T DON'T CRY after my brother left sheds A MAN SINGLE TEAR
ReplyDeletelaughed so hard at #1 xD
ReplyDelete#2 was cute
1. Applejack is going to say he is going to return Twilight's toy
ReplyDelete2. The treehouse of memories.
Funny, my mom reacted just like Applejack when she saw me on EQD
ReplyDeleteAnyone else notice that in #2 literally no one has a cutiemark except Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo? And even Scootaloo only has the top half of a cloud for a cutiemark. That sounds even worse than a hammer.
ReplyDeleteWell when under the "Love Spell" Lyra and Bon-Bon where fighting one on one if you pay attention to the background when Twilight explains what she had done to cause said fight.
ReplyDeleteNow about the Comics:
1) This is now Headcannon.
2) Totally sweet... Pure D'aawwww!!!
@P. Pony Ponyson
ReplyDeleteI suggest you show the Know Your Meme video about My Little Pony, gage friend's reaction, and then deside to tell him.
Man, that second one was amazing. Happy, sad, and funny at the same time. One more to add to the list of times I've been proud of the fandom.
ReplyDeleteI would have to agree with all of you on the 2nd strip being kinda sad and heartwarming. Now it makes me want to nag Shout or Hasbro to release MLP on DVD so we all can continue enjoying the show well after the show ends its run on The Hub eventually. I know we are only into S2 but you know what I mean.
ReplyDeletethat second comic is just....well, kinda sad in a way.
ReplyDeleteWhy can't I hold all these feels for #2
ReplyDeleteSomepony needs to make a real smarty pants plushie for real, notebook and quill included.
ReplyDeleteScooootalooooo
ReplyDeleteOmg older scootaloo is SO AWESOME :D
ReplyDelete1. Best reaction ever!
ReplyDelete2. D'awww CMC FTW!
Dat copypasta Scootaloo face. :,
