Read that fic myself and it didn't ruin Pinkie Pie for me. IDK why people say it ruins her when it's out of character and not canon. Regardless good comics

ReplyDelete"Unlike Pinkie, Twilight actually read Cupcakes all the way through, because, well... She's Twilight. She's never met a piece of literature that she didn't finish, no matter how horrifying Cupcakes was proving to be.
Directly after reading it, (and possibly after vomiting a few times,) Twilight had to go check on Rainbow and Pinkie, waking them up to make sure everything was alright. Not wanting to upset her friends by telling them about the foul story, (and unaware that Pinkie had already read it,) she made her way back to the library to try and figure out who had written the awful tale.
A few hours later, and coming up with nothing, Twilight realized that she sun would be up soon, and she should probably get some rest. But she was still plagued by the story in her mind, and the thought of laying in her bed by herself in the dark frightened her. So she slipped into Spike's basket, hoping that being next to her little dragon would help her sleep."
#1: Good art, good staging, delivers the gag and gets the heck out of there. Excellent little strip. Love Derpy's flailing in the last panel.
ReplyDelete#2: I'd prefer that particular fanfic to not be referenced in any sort of canon or pseudo-canon context, but aside from my preference, it was a pretty good comic. I agree with Ikusa GT that it wouldn't ruin Pinkie Pie for me because it's so far out of character; I just hate that there's a small but active section of the fandom that does seem to think it's possible that canon Pinkie could have that dark side.
Cupcakes? Really? I thought, as a fandom, we were over it.

ReplyDeleteI have toyed with the idea of how the main 6 would react to reading it; my ideas for Pinkie Pie and Twilight Sparkle are far removed from Musapan's comics, possibly because I'd aim for amusing reactions that would mock that particular fanfic.
I guess I've seen/read too many scary/gory films/books, but I just found cupcakes utterly boring. But all those reaction comics are priceless, especially with Twilight!

srsly cupcakes is the most dead meme in this fanbase, and the "I READED CUPCAKES, AND NOW I SLEEP WITH MY LIGHTS ON" jokes are getting fucking old. Move to better fanfics, like Past Sins, Rocket To Insanity and stuff.

I'm just thankful that she didn't read Sweet Apple Massacre. I was able to handle Cupcakes very well. Sweet Apple Massacre not as much, but I didn't react as bad as people said cupcakes was.

Yeah, I read cupcakes and the best thing about it was Pinkie's demeanour and how she speaks to Dash. That was done well, but the torture was kind of unrealistic, Dash still being alive with over half of her internal organs gone... sure.

Since I'm easily influenced by whatever I read, I refuse to even look at this so-called "Cupcakes" fan fiction.

@Snowy Flanks That won't happen and here's why there's a legal minefield when it comes to fanfics and tv shows so that's already one nail in the coffin.
ReplyDelete2. these episodes were written while season 1 was still going on so I doubt there would be anything script wise as a reference towards the fandom.
And on a side note it kind of baffled me when people actually thought Pinkie pie going insane was an homage to Cupcakes.
These episodes take over a year to make people. People are overestimating the turn around.

Everyone who is sick of Cupcakes references need to realise that not everyone is bored of referencing it. And not everyone was there when Cupcakes first came out. We're going to keep getting references for a LONG time.

ReplyDelete2. Need I say that Cupcakes isn't scary at all and that I enjoyed Rocket to Insanity and Rainbow Factory much more? I just don't see what was so scary about Cupcakes.
Plus, for those who thought the writers of the show were referencing it, it was just a pure coincidence that Pinkie went bonkers in "Party of One". Besides, the only thing I liked about the fic was Pinkie being a bit of a nutcase, aside from that, its not scary in the slightest, it didn't change my likeness for Pinkie at all and its pretty overblown, to be honest.
Ninja Derpy STILL loses. That's just how BADASS Rainbow Dash is!

For the second comic, the first two panels sucked. Dunno, but I think it's something to do with the line art. The first panel was just... ya.

@Steve JobsShut up! You're dead. also, the accepted, canon and if I am not mistaken, totally-legit-official name for her is Ditzy Doo. She has a daughter who is fannonably named Dinky Doo. Get it right(it doesn't help that the people who do the descriptions here at EQD can't get it right either). Also, to the people that aren't steve jobs here, anyone else worried about how the ninja in question will be portrayed in the show, since she now has a bigger part and all...with words that are {decidedly} not muffin. I'm kinda hoping that the writers have read The worst Bakers In Equestria:the Preliminaries;that Ditzy is best Ditzy-I mean there's a little bit of sillyness-and that's ok, she can also produce coherent speech;a must have.

That was a bit of a shocker, in an elephant man sort of way, but it totally fit in character, not to mention the whole sidekick thing, that seemed like it could happen(though, admittedly, probably not).Ditzy happens to be [oddly] the only parent I've ever read about that could become canon besides some background ponies[think about it]. I mean in a lot of fics, she makes a great mom and...
