We didn't really have a dedicated place for episode downloads last season that was completely reliable. Fortunately, season two has brought a whole plethora of improvements for those that don't actually have access to The Hub. I remember having to wait literally all day for pony to hit youtube in 420p, we had 720p within the hour this time around.
Ponyarchive has a listing of all episodes in various levels of qualities. It also hosts different types of downloads, from torrent to direct.
Right now they have what feels like the best 1080p version of The Return of Harmony. I added the direct download link to the episode post, but for those that want a bit of variety in terms of quality levels/download types, hit up their page for it.

Yay, I needed this
ReplyDeleteFINALLY, I CAN DO IT. :D :D :D :D :D :D
ReplyDelete*goes back to stalking ED*
soo Awsome
ReplyDeleteI'll just say Ponies.
ReplyDeletealso, any programs we need for any of the downloads?
ReplyDelete*is unfamiliar with .mkv file extension*
Download VLC. It has every codec you could imagine. I use it to play all my video media files.
ReplyDelete@wackyteen
ReplyDelete.mkv files are the files of blu-ray discs, which are uber HD.
Google up VLC, it'll play them fine.
iAndster, no wonder it's so large. <.< I'll be up all night downloading these, in glorious 1080p.
ReplyDeleteWish they had avi or wmv.
ReplyDeleteIt's already been said, but in case you weren't reading/listening (lol jk) get the VLC media player. It pretty much plays all video media files, including the .mkv file that's under the 1080p direct and torrent download.
ReplyDeleteAlso, if you are going to use the torrent download, I use utorrent. A lot of people are kinda sketched out by torrents, but from my experience as long as you know it's a reliable source it's not that bad.
>2011
ReplyDelete>using VLC
I sure hope you guys don't do this
Lets not forget Mentos, who provided us with downloadable episodes for most of season 1.
ReplyDelete@Big Love
ReplyDeleteAre you talking to me? If so I didn't mean that I can't play .mkv files.
Cool, but I think force of habit is just going to make me wait for Mentos and TrollHD.
ReplyDelete@BM Robo
ReplyDeletewhat do you mean?
I just use a codec pack for WMP. VLC was neat back in the day, but that was back when WMP was terrible.
ReplyDeletecodec pack for WMP?
ReplyDelete<.<
1080 button must be getting spammed, cuz I can't get in.
ReplyDeletenevermind, google is mah friend.
ReplyDeleteGoogle is always your friend.
ReplyDeleteAlso, am I a hipster now? I found that place last night using Google and downloaded all of season 1 before it was linked here.
Aww, not working for me at the moment. Says the site is currently unavailable. But hopefully soon.
ReplyDelete"Website currently unavailable"
ReplyDeleteWe borked it.
Any idea when season 2 episodes are available from itunes?
ReplyDelete@Grez
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately Mentos is unsure if he can do them this year, TrollHD has yet to release a raw of S2E1 (last I heard).
Hm not working right now. :(
ReplyDelete@Kixu
ReplyDeleteYay. :D
I might be a bit too early to ask but is the 1080p one clear of watermarks and such?
ReplyDeleteSkyline, the 1080p from direct dl has EI and Hub watermarks.
ReplyDeleteI'll dl the first episode from megaupload and check that
ReplyDeleteWell done, much appreciated! =)
ReplyDeleteBookmarking site right now. That said, I just want to take a moment to declare that, thanks to the start of season 2, my niece is now a Brony.
ReplyDelete...she's 12 going on 13. It counts.
the mega dl has the watermarks too. =(
ReplyDelete@wackyteen
ReplyDeleteMmmkay. Seems like I'll be waiting a bit longer for the clean uploads. Thanks for the info.
It doesn't really matter to me, but i'll be downloading clean downloads later.
ReplyDeleteI just hope i don't hit any download caps i'm not aware of. That mareathon friday night led me to download 36 GB of Steam games.
So it's all safe to download?
ReplyDelete@Sketchy
ReplyDeleteThe ponyarchive direct download links are safe.
I haven't found any active viruses out of them, but i'll scan later.
Although, i do trust Seth to not link use a virus.
us*
ReplyDelete/facehoof.
Strange that I'm the first to mention this, but it should be 480p, not 420p :p
ReplyDelete@starcat5
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! ^^b
Media Player Classic Home Cinema plays mostly any video format I throw at it. Previously I used MPC with the XP Codec Pack, but I got Home Cinema because it supports MadVR rendering
ReplyDelete@banannagram
Oh, you used Google to find it? I used to use Google, back when it was underground. Now it's just so mainstream...
Wait, can somepony explain to me why VLC is bad? It works great for me. *shrugpony*
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand wouldn't it be good to encourage people to download from iTunes to help support the show?
ReplyDelete@wackyteen
ReplyDeleteOk, thanks :3
Just dont want the feds to come after me XD
Where's the link for rips direct from Hubworld.
ReplyDeleteMe personally doesn't have a computer system that can handel Hi def but also I'm someone who does not want to put up with those watermarks.
Fail
good game! you crashed the site lol
ReplyDeleteThis would be the 27th time we've uploaded an episode to Youtube, and we are becoming exceedingly efficient at it.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I snagged this before you posted this.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I use a Codex pak and WMP to run the files and glorious HD... ( I also find it humorous that 720P and 1080P are both 699 MB lol )
For those worrying about Matroska files (.mkv), you can convert them using a demuxer like Yamb: http://yamb.unite-video.com/download.html
ReplyDeleteFor anyone wondering, who wants to use HD videos for editing, here's an easier, quicker way:
ReplyDelete1) Use either the website Savevid or Keepvid to download the episodes in HD (or even 480p) from YouTube.
2) Download the free video converter WinFF. I've tried a lot of converters and this one is hands down the best. I see there are others being suggested here, so use whatever works for you. Using the right settings though, WinFF can convert files with almost NO quality loss it seems.
3) Use these settings to convert: AVI, XviD Fullscreen, and in the Video Size field, set it to 1280 x 720. Click convert.
4) Use on any video editing software that doesn't accept MKV files. Enjoy!
Only problem with this, on my computer at least, is that when editing the files, it is a bit laggy, because of the high quality. If anyone else has an even better method, please do share it! :D
Also, each of these files will be about 200 - 250 mb big. Somewhat bigger converted (up to about 300 mb), which is MUCH smaller than the 600 or more mb that some of these files are, but just as high of quality.
Yeah, this is where I've gotten all the episodes I've ever put up on my channel, including for season 1 (they had a different domain registered; now it redirects to ponyarchive). I'm likely going to reupload when the clean downloads (without watermarks/hub commercial) come out, if/when they do, but for now I've got the 1080p mkv up.
ReplyDeleteAre those episodes the encodes made by mentos/troll hd?
ReplyDeleteyum
ReplyDeleteHello everypony!
ReplyDeleteI am one of the two that started pony archive and we are quite shocked that we have been honoured a blog post on EQ-daily :O
To answer most peoples questions the 1080p, 720 and SD encodes are made straight from a 1080i tv source.
We will however add the usual 720p iTunes web-dl as soon as we can get our hands on them.
If you have some links etc that you want to add, why not send us an e-mail because we appreciate all input from other bronys.
Much love and friendship
.avi please
ReplyDeleteAnywhere else I can get episodes?
ReplyDeleteMy computer doesnt accept the type of file used here
@wackyteen
ReplyDeleteVLC Media Player can run it, it isn't working on my Windows Media Player though.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteFor those who want the usual 72p iTunes-version, it's available now at pony archive :)
Much
PotPlayer the best.
ReplyDeletelawlz, too bad ponyarchive is gone now
