I will never touch the older stuff, it scares me far too much, also I find that the ponies in the original series look really disturbing.

First comic made me giggle. "Rainbow Dash always dresses in style!" Then it made me sad when RD was trying to fight back tears. :( And then giggle again. "NO!" Haha.

ReplyDeleteActually, instead of a pure G5 version (though, if they do a G5, I'm sure it'll probably be done in a similar style as G4 since, you know, huge success) I think it would be interesting if perhaps they did a sequel to G4 taking place an appropriate amount of years later. The CMC as adult mares anyone?
ReplyDeleteAlso, Seth, you are a braver man than I am, though I wouldn't be surprised if I too checked out G3.5 just to see the horror for myself. I'm a bit of a sadomasochist like that, at least mentally.

seriously though, I do the same, and I looked at a bit of the old stuff, the opening theme of every previous show, I died a little, It took the small amount of sanity that cupcakes left of my already miniscule mental stability.

ReplyDeleteI mean you really think those other MLP cartoons pulled 1/10th the attention that this show does? There's feature-lengths in this franchise's future.
I like the idea that Lyra is secretly a fan of the "My Little Human" show, and hides it well that she's secretly a "Humare," someone who likes human shows but aren't the little fillies for whom the show was aimed.

I just assumed that, Once Celestia and Luna came into power, they lead a crusade against the horrible parts of the old days and spent the past 1000 years oppressing the fact that they happened at all. See, every now and then a tyrannic dictator can have a good idea.
When I told my little sister about FiM and that Rainbow Dash was my favorite, she said "wait, you mean the one that dresses all pretty and says 'darling' constantly?"

The Rainbow Dash comic reminds me of when Saban tried to get the license for Sailor Moon, and they turned Sailor Moon into a girl who was smart, competent and "She can get dressed up, and look so fine...!" (you can find this on YouTube by looking for "Saban Moon")
