What we're getting is pretty much Hasbro's 2010 prediction of what would be popular in 2011. Merchandise, particularly GOOD merchandise, takes a lot of time for a multitude of reasons...

I think the rub-to-color thing would be pretty cool... but I bet there's at least one 25 year old sitting in his room, rubbing the hay out of... Okay, I'm done thinking about this scene now. I'M MOVING ON.
Then there's the purse. Now, if they would create a bookbag that looks like one of the Mane Six's bags, I'd consider buying that. This, however, doesn't really have much pony on it. Heck, it has Twilight's colors on the purse and then a purple heart. I know friendship is magic, but still... The only thing in that package that really noticeably relates to ponies is the logo on the mirror and the wand that says phrases from Twilight Sparkle and sound things.
For the most part, Hasbro released items that fit the original targeted audience (except for the rub to color, which would be something I'd consider buying).
But... now that I'm thinking... for people who aren't toddlers anymore, they could buy the panties, then cut out the designs and put them on . You could turn it into a badge, a hand warmer... Heck, you could even stitch them to your socks, create your own pony socks that actually fit you.
