A bunch of crazy bronies have taken the Wonderbolt hoodie designs from ponychan and actually built something out of it.
You can find the DA Page here!
It also looks like someone is selling them on Etsy!
This community never ceases to amaze me.

ReplyDeleteim on the fence on this one
ReplyDeleteLooks awesome. I just don't understand why the jacket needs two seams side by side in the front, but cool none the less :D
ReplyDeletePretty decent. But to me it looks more like a rain jacket than a traditional hoodie. Is there anyone out there using a standard hoodie as a template then adding graphics over it?
ReplyDeletenice.
ReplyDeleteDO WANT
ReplyDeleteWould have been 20% more cooler if someone had stuck a cutie mark on the flank area.
ReplyDeleteOne of the better hoodie designs which don't get too carried away with ears and stuffed manes.
ReplyDeleteI like it.
The modified "Laughing Colt" face image is epic.
ReplyDeleteTHE LAUGHING MAN IS A BRONY!!!!
ReplyDeleteTRULY, THE PONY RAPTURE WILL DESCEND ON THE DISBELIEVERS SOON!!!
OUR TIME ON THE NET IS AT HAND!!!!!!
Oh yes, and nice hoodie!
Ghost in the shell would have been 20% cooler if the Laughing man write this hoodie.
ReplyDeleteEquestria Daily is almost at 1M viewers.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what's going to happen?
meh the goggles make it looks like something out of an awful rpg. otherwise they atleast get a A for effort.
ReplyDelete@Geldon Yetichsky
ReplyDeleteI think you meant 100000.
It seems like it's missing something but I'm not sure what.

ReplyDeleteNo I'm preeety sure he means 1 million.
Err... 10 million.
ReplyDeleteWhy does this remind me of something not-Wonderbolt-ish?
ReplyDeleteOh right, Hollow Fields.
I require a Shadowbolt hoodie.
ReplyDeleteWould love to buy one if it didn't cost 50 bucks. >_>
ReplyDeleteIs this the same guy who has been doing this on ponychan?
ReplyDeletethey look pretty cool but not sure if i am going to get one yet.
ReplyDeleteNice! Now just need the Matching Pants to Complete the Outfit! ;D

ReplyDeleteA'yup.
Nice looking hoodie, but I think it needs work. It looks a little rough.
ReplyDeleteAt least it doesn't have ears and manes and god knows what else on it - that shit is creepy
6/10
ReplyDeleteI kinda like these.
ReplyDeleteA little rough around the edges if I might say, but still a very appealing piece of work. :)
Whhat I mean:
ReplyDeleteIt's a good cosplay thing being true to the show but I can't imagine wearing it in everyday life.
What I would do if I had time/resources/talent:
1) Make it darker blue (I think royal blue is the right term).
2) The yellow parts should either be lighter to create a stronger contrast or be changed to gold. I would go with the latter.
3) Make the wings shiny white (looks a bit greyish on my screen at least).
4) I think the the yellow design should be made more "spiky" instead of being rounded, make them look like real lightning :) Spiky and sharp.
I think (at least in my head) this would add up some pretty cool looking hoodie I would wear when I walk the street :)
P.S: Do NOT add mane or ears. That's for the fury fans and cosplay at best.
P.P.S: I think you can try to work on the googles if you are into that. Like, padding them, making them stand out a bit, could be cool but not sure about that.
P.P.P.S: All my notes and ideas apply only if you want to sell hoodies to people i.e. business wise. If it's only for self-entertainment and cosplay, please ignore this post ^-^
Fifty dollars, yeeeesh.
ReplyDeleteI want the jacket from the DA page SO BAD!
ReplyDeleteHoodie maker here.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I realize it's not quite right. It was a very spur of the moment thing to make, and my fabric choices were really quite lacking, especially in the fleece department.
Considering it's the summer, and I found closer matching colors in flannel, I decided to go with that.
The reason it looks so baggy is because the pattern (McCalls 5992) which is designed for fleece, and ovearall, is pretty generic in build.
I have no prior experience in sewing so this was a big learning experience for me, and even my tailor buddy (who commanded the sewing machine / serger) had fun showing me what to do. Attaching all the designs was definitely the most challenging part (a whole lot of topstiching).
It's not perfect, but I'm proud of it. With lessons learned here, perhaps the next one will be better (and in appropriate fleece colors) :)
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteFirst of all I'm glad you had so much fun doing this, that's the most important after all :)
And I hope you didn't take my comment as "lecturing" or anything, It was only my two cents and overall I still love what you have done there, great you got into tailoring, I notice many fans (including myself) are getting into new creative activities and hobbies due to ponies :)
Yeah, I want one.
ReplyDeleteBut I want a gas mask too.
Weird combo.
Itt'd look great, though.
