Here in the states at least, Boomerang is cable channel where Cartoon Network retires all of it's older cartoon shows. It mostly features a library of the old Hana-Barbara cartoons but it's been slowly getting the cartoons from the 90's Cartoon Cartoon line-up.

Don't know what the channel is over in the UK (since the announcer had the tell tale accent) but I would imagine it's the same thing.

      Challenge accepted!

Good morning. In less than an hour, ponies from here will join others in Europe. And you will be launching the largest pony battle in this history of ponykind.

Ponykind--that word should have new meaning for all of us today.

We can't be consumed by "which pony would we pet"--our PETty differences--anymore.

We will be united in our common interests.

Perhaps it's fate that today is the 4th of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom, not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution--but from Nightmare Moon.

We're fighting for our right to live, to exist.

And should we win the day, the 4th of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day when the world declared in one voice:

"We will not go whining into the night!

Green will not be our color without a fight!

      We're going to watch on!

We're going to love and tolerate!"

Today, we celebrate our Indepony Day!

Hm, finally it comes to EU officially. I am from central Europe (Slovakia to be more precise) and i hope, it will not be translated into our language (Translation sucks, all punchlines will be totally remade and in the end it will not make sense at all...)

But i hope, that they will start selling merchandise from FiM. Few days ago, i tried to find some ponies, but we are still stuck wit generation 3.5...

Do I understand it right that Boomerang is a Pay-TV channel? God, I hope that they air it on Free-TV once they translate it to German and bring it over here.

Not that I don't know that the German dubbing will be horrible (at least compared to the original voices) but I at least want to hear HOW horrible it is. That, and flipping through the TV guide and seeing "My Little Pony" (with or without subtitle) will probably trigger a happiness in me, regardless of the quality of the dub. Also, when they release the series here, they're probably gonna release the toys too.

But hey, I have the entire season on my PC and I'll eventually find a way to convert them to a format my Xbox can play so I can watch them on my TV.

Half way through the ad I was reminded of the following quote:

      "Power-running, Power-lifting, Power-sleeping, Power-dating, Power-eating, Power-laughing, Power-spawning, Babies! You'll have so many babies! 400 BABIES!!!"

      It was awesome

Oh, how I miss the generic female announcer voice on UK television. It's been three years and it sounds oddly comforting, despite the fact I hated adverts (and still do, but now it is specifically American adverts)

You know, If I didn't already have all the episodes on my computer and watched them all from start to finish 4 times, at least, I'd almost wish I had boomerang to watch it on....

I'm just trying to imagine how a British dub would even work? We've been sounding more and more American from all your TV anyway, either you play on the British Stereotype and no one watches it because the British Stereotype sounds annoying to us or you make it sound American but not quite and I've no idea where you'd find a replacement for Apple Jack in England...

Rainbow Dash would probably end up a scouser.
Rarity would sound French (more French than she currently does).
Twilight would have to be Steven Fry.

No, I've got nothing on the other 2.

Applejack could have a very thick northern or welsh accent. Thats the closest the British have to a American southern accent. As for Fluttershy, I can't think of anything. A sort of posh butler is the only thing I can think of and even that doesn't really work.

Dude, its not going to be re dubbed into British accents...
      1. I have never seen it been done before from all Us shows we get here.
      2. It would be a waste of time and money
      3. It would be entirely pointless since im pretty sure that no-pony is stupid enough to not understand / know the differences in U.S and British since there are hardly any anyway....
so explain why we're discussing this please.. :s

For the sake of a discussion, I think. I'm well aware that it would be pointless but I have heard of cases where British material has been changed when the show reaches America.

Speaking of which, I'm not even sure that there is any company in england that does dubbing. I've never heard of a an English company dubbing anime.

Anyway, I envy both the US and UK signals of Boomerang as they stay true to showing good quality cartoons.

The Latin American Boomerang has been all but destroyed and they only show pre-teen Mexican novelas, sucky movies, and all they show of cartoons is stuff CN stopped showing like 4 years ago really late at night or really early in the morning

For those who are questioning if it is worth the effort to watch the shows on TV after you've seen them all through streams/YouTube, I can definitively answer YES! I got to house sit for my parents a couple of weeks ago, and thankfully my parents have a large enough cable channel package that The Hub was available to watch.

There really is something so much better being able to watch it on a screen larger than my computer monitor, and from several feet away instead of as close as I am while sitting at my computer desk.

Just remember to have the remote close by so you can mute those commercials.
