  • My Little Pony: Avatar is Magic

    by Cereal Velocity

I never saw the television series, to be honest, but this comic is in a pretty unique style and I love the crap out of it because it's cute as hell. So you all get to look at it because I said so. If, um, that's all right with you, that is.

While I'm not going to get involved in the flame war above, I AM going to say that Avatar: The Last Air Bender I EASILY the best cartoon to come out of Nickelodeon since the year 2000. And while I didn't particularly LOVE the ending they gave the show, The show as a whole is defiantly one of the better cartoons, animation, plot, and character development wise. I'd say that the quality of Avatar is on par, if not a little less, with My Little Pony.

My two favorite things ever...in one place...thank you.

I can't believe so many people haven't seen Avatar. It's one of the very few cartoons I would say is better than MLP. Although, the styles and approaches are so different that I'm not sure if they should be compared at all. MLP has better character development, but Avatar actually has a plot(an amazing one) for more than one episode.

I love them both to death either way. I've been a part of the Avatar community for years, staunchly hating those damned Zutara shippers.

And I don't know what people's deal is, the third season was the best. In each season of Avatar the first half is kinda filler-y and the second half is amazing, and the third season ended the show with a bang.

You can stream the entirety of the three seasons of Avatar: The Last Airbender on Netflix. That's what I did last summer after seeing The Last Airbender in theaters and being disappointed enough that I wanted to watch the original again to justify my disappointment. I marathoned the whole series over the course of two days, with some randomly interspersed periods where I slept and ate.
It's good stuff, and truly worthy of being called a fine example of American anime.

To get this out of the way right now. I haven't watched much Avatar, but what I did watch was one of the better shows I've seen. I'm not saying it's excellent, but I can't say it was anywhere near bad.

As for the comic, it was awesome! They matched so well. I couldn't stop laughing at Pinkie and Toph. Also, I find it kind of funny that the most happy go lucky of the group and most child-like of the group was having such an awkward time with the CMC.

Oh, man, 2, 3, and 6 were solid gold. Probably the most obscure one for you non-Avatar watchers was #2, so here's the gist: the creature Fluttershy is staring down is known as "Koh the Face-Stealer," and as the name implies, he will steal your face if you deviate at all from a completely neutral expression while talking to him. SO, yeah, totally believable that Fluttershy could pull that off.

Anyway, anypony here who hasn't watched Avatar: The Last Airbender should really rectify that as soon as possible, because it's really awesome.

@Anonymous Apologies on the missing Katara. I was originally going to include her (interacting with either Fluttershy or Twilight) but, ah, I got other ideas, as you can see. Heh.

And to everypony else, thanks for the compliments! Glad to see I've been able to amuse others. (I'll also echo all the "watch Avatar if you haven't already" sentiments. We all watch MLP, so I figure we don't mind giving things a chance, right?)

      @nikohl
That's ok! It might've been 20% cooler with katara but it's still a great comic! I love the look on Aang's face in the last panel! Priceless! And let the crossover fics begin!

Oh gawwwwd I loved Avatar The Last Airbender (the cartoon, not the movie)...can't wait until the sequel "Korra" airs on Nick.

In the meantime, I have ponies....

Poor Pinkie Pie. She probably didn't survive very long after her panel with Toph.

Anyway, this would be a totally awesome crossover. Just be careful not to cause an awesomeness overload and blow up the universe when writing fanfics involving it.
