I'm not sure if I'd say those are official names, per se. I think they assigned them those names in order to keep them distinct from one-another in the scripts, doing voice work, ect. However, they're a lot closer to official than anything else that's been announced yet.
I think most of us can agree that they need official fan names. To that end I propose we all start pitching names until we find ones we can all agree on. I'll start. The Leader = Abigor. The Big One = Wallow. The Small One = Gressil. What do ya think?
You know how the monsters in MLP are pulled from mythology, dungeons & dragons, and similar sources? I just realized what the diamond dogs actually are.

Wow. I had just realized that they went through that entire episode without saying any of their names. D:
ReplyDeleteyeah ponibooru can suck away all of your time also
ReplyDeletefido FTW
So i guess Fido is the big one, Rover is the leader and spot is the small one.
ReplyDeleteYES! Stereotypical dog names!
ReplyDeleteThat makes me absurdly happy and I don't know whyyyy :D
>inb4 BUT I THOUGHT YOU WAAAAAANTED ANON DOGS
ReplyDeletePerfect. Now I can update my Angband variant to be more official. I had assumed that Moe, Larry, and Curly weren't canon.

Oh god you BETTER explain yourself and/or/butmostlyand drop a link where we can pick it up.
/Req Fido x Spot. And then find some excuse to have Rarity ruin it.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone ever even try to give them fan names? Kinda odd.
ReplyDeleteMLP Billboard? Pfft.
ReplyDeleteToday will be forever known as the day that the fanbase learned the Diamond Dog's names.
Somehow I expected Ziggy, Aladdin, and Tom. Then again maybe you can get saturated with Bowie.

Somepony had just asked Jayson Thiessen this the other day, and he couldn't remember.
ReplyDeleteI posted an image of the names organized on Ponibooru
ReplyDeleteThis needs to be a three part pole, were people vote on witch Ddog should get witch name!
ReplyDeleteThe character laws of irony DEMAND that the big one is Spot.
ReplyDeleteIt must have been SO HARD for them to not saturate the episode in bowie references.
ReplyDeleteI'm just waiting for Littlepip to find a memory orb of Spot's last moments in Fallout: Equestria

ReplyDeleteDiamond dogs..
Diamond...dogs...
If dogs are man's best friend and diamonds are a girls, then....whoa..mind=blown
Sounds like they had owners.

ReplyDeleteI'll have a playable alpha ready tomorrow evening. All development will be covered at my blog here: http://anquestria.blogspot.com/
I heard someone call them Ziggy, David and Duke, which works really well for me, as they are names a dog could reasonably have.
ReplyDeleteI wish they would just release the scripts.

You better release PAngband sometime. This idea is 20% cooler than my furry angband variant (yes, I said that).
Me and the rest of the cast have proper names now! Sweet!
ReplyDeleteFido? OMG XD

ReplyDeleteWow! That's a brilliant discovery!
