I knew before I even voted that I would be in the minority. What depresses me instead is that Flutterdash couldn't sneak in even half as many votes as the "I hate shipping" option.
There's a much stronger sentiment against the whole concept than I realized. Not that it's going to make me stop, but I'm surprised.
Surprised by the results, but even more surprised by sizable amount of Gildash fans! Glad I'm not alone, hah. I was actually kind of torn between Twidash and Gildash, but my bias for Gilda won out.
I voted for Twidash, as that was the subject of one of the few shipping stories I actually really enjoyed. And it just seems to work so well, somehow. I guess opposites attract.
I'm an AppleDashist, myself. They have such a great slap-slap-kiss dynamic. Sure, they make each other mad, but that's a strong emotional reaction you don't see from Dash very much.
Pinkie and Dash seem more like friends than lovers, to me. They get along well, but I think Pinkie amuses Dash more than attracts.
Yes, I do put waaaay too much thought into shipping.
@Anonymous Yeah, lacking bronies I'm fairly sure I'd have to ask for one adult and one child ticket for a showing half an hour later, to establish a plausible alibi (so to speak). >_>;
It's hard to say what attracts someone, though. Dash might be one of the many for whom attraction begins with humor. Pinkie can make her smile; a lot, lol.
True, she also acts annoyed by Pinkie some of the time, but given the "tough" exterior she likes to maintain that could just be a front to hide the way she really feelings, which she'd think would be embarrassing.
I very much liked that camping fic's reasoning for Twilight/Dash. They're each very dedicated to their own work and not particularly romance-minded... a low-maintenance relationship with someone of a different specialty is really ideal for the two of them.
Frankly, I don't see the appeal between AJ and Dash, since they're more like Best BROS/SIS Ever. There is more chemistry between RD and Pinkie in my opinion.
I suspect Applejack is #1 because a lot people equate strong (and especially athletic) female characters with lesbianism (or at least bisexuality), and Dash & Applejack are the two "tough girls".
I always like the idea of Dash as straight, because I rather see the trope turned on its head.
It always seemed more to me that Pinkie/Dash was substantiated and created upon one episode in which they played practical jokes. There isn't much depth beyond that.
Aw, not many Twidash fans here, it seems. I always saw that as the most plausible option. Twilight is supportive and thoughtful and not entirely unwilling to stroke Dash's big ego.
But part of me just likes to put the bookworm with the athlete. I think it's cute.

The anti-pony series convinced me Pinkiedash was awesome. I have no regrets.
ReplyDeleteApplejack? That's not how you spell "Gilda".
ReplyDeleteI hate shipping
ReplyDeleteI voted Dashmac
I guess anything smaller than Nimitz class aircraft carrier wouldn't be cool enough for Dash.
ReplyDeleteWHAT? Appledash?
ReplyDeleteThat ISN'T how you spell Pinkiedash.
Huh, I was expecting Pinkiedash to come out ahead too. O.o It looked like it would for a little while, too, but then got overtaken.
ReplyDeleteWoah, I wasn't expecting my favourite pairing to come out at the top.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteThis
I...
ReplyDeleteI voted PinkieDash.
I'm sorry Gilda. That's two polls in a row I turned my back on you!
THE POLL WAS RIGGED
ReplyDeleteSeriously though, ScratchDash was a better option than LyraDash
HA, NOTHING CAN SINK THE HMS APPLEDASH!
ReplyDeleteDashMac.
ReplyDeleteNeeds more straightness.
We are still streaming ponies at YTsocial @ http://tinyurl.com/66gch2p Please join us!
ReplyDeleteVoted Gildash. I'm usually totally Appledash but I find Gildash even more heartwarming =3
ReplyDeleteSilly bronies that's not how you spell GilDash or RanbowScratch.
ReplyDeleteI was so torn between DashMac and TwiDash...

ReplyDeleteAnd shame on you Pacce! (not really :P)
YOU DIDN'T PUT SCRATCH ON IT.
ReplyDeleteONE THOUSAND SUNS, MAN.
Told you, blog pony.
ReplyDelete@Lovecraft
ReplyDeleteXD He may not have voted Gilda but Pacce certainly makes up for it through fics. Did you read Coming Clean yet?~ =3 Very enjoyable~
I love AppleDash, but voted Gildash because... well, I think Gilda deserves something resembling a happy ending... ; _ ;
ReplyDeleteI was hoping Pinkiedash would win, it's so adorable! And besides, Appledash? That is SO passé, dears! Rarityjack is IN!
ReplyDelete... And then I realized I ship the two least popular ponies. They were made for each other [fakespoilertag]and no one else ;_;
I really like the idea of Twidash and I consider it the most likely, out of all of them. Pinkie Pie just doesn't spike on my gaydar at all.
ReplyDeleteWow, really surprised Pinkiedash didn't win.
ReplyDeleteI voted for Twidash, as that was the subject of one of the few shipping stories I actually really enjoyed. And it just seems to work so well, somehow. I guess opposites attract.
The new poll should also have "Yes, but only if I went with other bronies."
ReplyDeletebecause lets face it, a friend coming with you can be the difference between feeling like a pedophile and feeling like you have a guilty pleasure.
@Peaches n' Cream
ReplyDeleteHah, yes, I read it, and it was quite fantastic.
I'm an AppleDashist, myself. They have such a great slap-slap-kiss dynamic. Sure, they make each other mad, but that's a strong emotional reaction you don't see from Dash very much.

Why do so few people like flutterdash?
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteBecause Rainbow Dash would be way too overbearing for Fluttershy to handle.
I couldn't vote for any option. There's just too much uncertainty, though NONE was pretty close to the top.
But AppleDash? Let's pair up the butch fillies? Too easy. Where's the challenge, where's the substance?
I very much liked that camping fic's reasoning for Twilight/Dash. They're each very dedicated to their own work and not particularly romance-minded... a low-maintenance relationship with someone of a different specialty is really ideal for the two of them.
ReplyDeleteFrankly, I don't see the appeal between AJ and Dash, since they're more like Best BROS/SIS Ever.

GILDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
ReplyDeleteI voted other(Derpydash).
ReplyDeleteDawww.
ReplyDeletePinkieDash All The Way Across the Sky!!!
I would've gone with Gildash.
ReplyDeleteThen I read PPP: part 5 (http://www.equestriadaily.com/2011/02/story-emergency.html). Totally sold me on RarityDash.
I suspect Applejack is #1 because a lot people equate strong (and especially athletic) female characters with lesbianism (or at least bisexuality), and Dash & Applejack are the two "tough girls".
ReplyDeleteI always like the idea of Dash as straight, because I rather see the trope turned on its head.
Fall Weather Friends is adorable, and as much as I love pegasus love...
ReplyDelete...you all make emotionally wounded griffons hide their inner tears with anger.

Go Appledash!
ReplyDelete@Lucres
ReplyDeleteI Fucking hate Appledash, perhaps that is part of my irrational dislike of Applejack in general.
PinkieDash is the best.
Knew this would happen. Appledash really suits her :D
ReplyDeleteAppledash <3
ReplyDeleteYES APPLEDASH WON. I'm sorry but they are the cutest couple ever, they go together so well <3
ReplyDeleteI like FlutterDash :D
ReplyDeleteThis seems to be beginning of PinkieDash's decline.. I hate how I missed the period when it was the largest ship in existence.
ReplyDeleteSOARIN-DASH!!!! It's not even there?!
ReplyDelete@gagarevolution
ReplyDeleteI'll have to agree with you on that one.
