Well I guess that's finally the 100% proof we have been waiting for. Top Draw has confirmed that 24 new MLP episodes are in the process of being created!
Congratulations on a job well done everybrony. I am not sure if this was thanks to our pony fanaticism, but more of our favorite equines are on the way!

This calls for a PARTY!
ReplyDeleteSuccess!
ReplyDeleteAnyone know when S1 production started? It'd give us a good idea how long we'll have to wait. (though I'd assume Fall '11 is a safe bet...)
I believe S1 started around... Actually, I don't know. Either late '09 or early 2010...
ReplyDeleteWelp, I have the biggest party-clopper right now. LET'S DANCE!
I AM GETTING DRUNK
ReplyDeleteJUST BECAUSE OF THIS
TODAY HAS BEEN A GOOD DAY
SO AWESOME
ReplyDeleteparty?
ReplyDeleteda-do-da-do-da-doodoo!
da-do-da-do-da-doodoo!
I'm assuming that "finished in December" means more or less the same as for S1, so they'll be showing the first episodes in october/november.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
ReplyDeleteYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH
BEST. DAY. EVER.
ReplyDeleteSo awesome! The months-long wait is gonna suck, but at least we know for sure there will be new poni again someday!
ReplyDeleteI've been looking for an excuse to drink some of that good booze I've been saving. Time to toast to Season 2!
Glad that it's official now. Awesome.
ReplyDeleteTHE DAY JUST GOT BETTER.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.comicmix.com/news/2011/03/22/futurama-renewed-for-another-season/
NEW FUTURAMA AND MY LITTLE PONY ANNOUNCEMENTS ON THE SAME DAY!?!?!?!
ReplyDeleteMY BODY COULD NEVER HAVE BEEN PREPARED!
All we need now is Friendship is Magic The Movie and then I can finally die.
ReplyDelete@Midnight
ReplyDeleteIT'S TIME TO PARTY!
Well, to be honest I will welcome the break between season 1 and 2, we'll come back refreshed hopefully.
ReplyDeleteAnd with lots of craaaazy shipping pairs haha
Let us celebrate with the addition of vodka to juice!
ReplyDeletePINKIE PIE STYLE!
ALL OF MY FRIENDSHIP
ReplyDeleteWell. This show's already done better than the other MLP series and it hasn't even finished it's first season yet.
ReplyDeleteMY HOPES. THEY ROCKETED THROUGH THE ROOF IN A TRAIL OF FRIENDSHIP AND EXPLODED TWICE!
So, what'll we do to pass the time?
ReplyDeleteThat's an interesting question... What WILL we do for however long the gap is?
ReplyDeleteI doubt this site will have enough content to keep updating as often as it does now.
Hopefully someone will produce a Friendship is Magic Abridged or the like to fill the time.
ReplyDeleteAlso, AWESOME. The real question is, when will we get some DVDs with commentary?
@Sethisto
ReplyDeleteEasy - fafics. Shipping never die :P
@Sethisto
ReplyDeleteCharades.
Equus In Abundantia!!!!
ReplyDeleteAlways great to hear, though I thought they had announced it officially back in January, it's good to see it in stone here.
ReplyDelete@Sethisto
Other fandoms go through the same withdrawl, the momentum will keep up for a month or two and then it will slowly dwindle down, it'll just pick back up when the next episodes roll around. It'll be an interesting experiment since it's more an internet series than a TV series, so the net fanbase isn't really affected by reruns, but rather by peer-to-peer communication, I'll be interested to see how that plays out -- do you keep a complete list of all the pageviews for this blog over time? I think if there was a list of daily page views, that would speak for itself once they first season concludes.
My suggestion after the finale would be to see if we can recycle through all the fan content generated thus far but in a much slower/meticulous manner since I for one haven't read half the fics posted, mostly because there's several posted every day it seems, and I doubt many other bronies kept up with absolutely everything.
I hope the break isn't very long.
ReplyDeleteI mean in 3 week gap we started shiping derpy with a fork!
wtf would half a year do.
Hopefully, Season 2 will start around the same time FiM started (October). That's still going to be a good six months of no ponies.
ReplyDeleteThere's going to be some painful withdraw up ahead.
It does say commencement date is in april...hopefully that means that's when the episodes start? No, that's probably when production starts...
ReplyDeleteThere were shows before FiM, there will be shows after FiM. Everything in between is icing.
ReplyDeleteI think that is a good way to think about it.
Pff sugar coat all you guys want! I think 6 months of no ponies is going to land me in rehab!
ReplyDeleteWho knows, maybe the MMO thing'll pick up steam and we'll all be sporting fashionable neckbeards and monitor tans again just in time for the 2nd season.
ReplyDeleteTHIS is GREAT news :)
ReplyDeleteNow I only hope that I can get through the summertime without resorting to drawing ponies on all my computer equipment and furniture.
Although I guess I can use some wall-art and placemats.
( Oh, and I should definitely do something with that boring black case my USB hard disk is in. I'll survive the gap just fine :) )
I hope we can see Princess Luna more in the season 2
ReplyDeleteI wonder if we'll see more and more subtle nods to /co/ and/or the internet fandom of the show. I mean, we're starting to get them as Season 1 ends, and that's because they were finishing production as the first ep's broadcast and were able to modify these later episodes.
ReplyDeleteI don't think the page will slow down, coz in summer the serie will start in other languages, you know... Spanish, French, German...
ReplyDeleteI swear to do my part and keep this site alive by making fics and drawing pics as much as I can to keep up the updates. I don't want to see the bronihood dwindle, and I want to make sure this site has as many updates as it can get.
ReplyDeleteWe better get some Trixie!
ReplyDeleteI've heard production started in April, either '10 or '09.
ReplyDeleteBut I think that was just the animation part.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteI'll call Pinkie Pie-oh wait....
Every fiber of my being is signing out in ecstasy.
ReplyDeleteCONFOUND THOSE PONIES, THEY DRIVE ME TO OPTIMISM!!!
Seriously, though, great news. Also, I gotta have more Ditzy Doo. I have a fever...and the only perscription is more Ditzy Doo.
DID SOMEBODY SAY PARTY!? One balloon for every brony in the pony blog! :D
ReplyDeleteSeriously though, confirmation is good. :>
There are two studios that produce animation. Top Draw is just the ones they outsource to when Studio B can't handle the load. Does this suggest that there might be more than 24 episodes?
ReplyDeleteOH GOOOOOOOOOOOD COMPLETION OF PRODUCTION DECEMBER 2011 AAAAAAAAAAHHHH SO FAR
ReplyDelete24 EPISODES?
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6OtFKNDPUc
I AM BOTH HAPPY AND SAD.
ReplyDeleteEITHER WAY, TIME FOR ALCOHOL, COLLEGE BASKETBALL, AND PONIES.
PARTY LIKE YOU'RE PINKY PIE!
Seriously though, psyched for the second season.
Hopefully EqD and ponychan get me through the 6 months of no ponies. That and rewatching every single episode.
@Auta Mane
ReplyDeleteI think you are right about that concerning season 1. All the other proof we had that indicated season 2 was being worked on appeared to be for voice work (Peter New saying he had some lines to record for March for instance) and other pre-animation steps from some members of the crew.
If that is the case, the commencement date most likely means the start date for the animation process. If it follows the same schedule as season 1 production we might start seeing stuff in October as others pointed out. Man, that is going to be a long time with ponies.
@Anonymous
ReplyDeleteMany years ago, Animaniacs had an online fandom as well, and it was just as devoted as the Pony fandom seems to be now.
So the producers gave us this awesome nod to the fandom:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNJ6dFwh8a4
(it starts after Good Idea Bad Idea)
Several fans actually contributed to that short being created, and it was previewed to a group of fans who decided to go on a studio tour back in 1996 or so.
It was absolutely epic in every way. So yes, it would be awesome if we get nods in season 2.
I miss Animaniacs and its fandom. It was an awesome group of people but we all went our separate ways in the years after the show ended.
Ok, I shall add my 2 cents.
ReplyDeleteI hope S2 will have the characters interact more with the backround characters, since all of them ARE my favorite characters.
Also maybe less focus on the main cast. I know, I'm crazy, but for some reason I like the not-main cast characters more then the main cast.
Also, how many eps did S1 have? I already forgot.
._.
This is probably the silliest question in existence and I apologize for asking it in advance, but: this is going to be more Friendship is Magic, yes?
ReplyDeleteIt's just that whenever I see ambiguous names like "My Little Pony 2" I get antsy, and I don't read every news source at once. ^_^;
This week has been an amazing one for cartoon announcements.
ReplyDeleteFirst, CN announced new seasons of Adventure Time and Regular Show.
Then, Jackson Publick leaked that we're getting TWO new seasons of the Venture Brothers, plus a short special in the summer, plus a freakin' TV movie.
Then, Futurama got another season, and now...
Ponies are officially coming back.
Nobody pinch me.
THIS SOUNDS LIKE A JOB FOR A PARTY
ReplyDeleteWell, let's see. Production of season one wrapped in late November (which would probably be rounded off to December in official schedules) so the first episodes were airing while the last ones were still in production.
ReplyDeleteWhich means it's quite likely season 2 will begin in October, or one year after the start of season 1.
That means six months with no ponies.
Hub will probably fill the gap by rerunning the first season in order on Fridays.
YAY
ReplyDelete>Completion Date: December 2011
...
FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUU--
@Bookish Delight
ReplyDeleteWell, it would cost them significantly more money to start an entirely new series than to go with the one they've already got (which is proving quite popular, obviously :P) I don't think there's any reason to be worried.
AYE AYE!
ReplyDeleteI hope that second season is focused on the CMC (LOL)
one question: powerpuff girls had a second season?
inb4 powerpuff girls Z allmyrage.com
I've got a wing boner.
ReplyDeletePretty much the best part of waking up is reading news like this. Just adds to all of the "unofficial" confirmations.
ReplyDeleteSix months between ponies is likely? And I won't have college to fill in the summer gap, either...dang. Guess I'll slee- intern overseas. Hear I can hook up with a firm in Trier.
That's so awesome!
ReplyDelete@madmax
ReplyDeletePPG had a total of six seasons
FHFIF had a total of six seasons
Both had a total of 79 episode.
One can only hope for the same of MLP:FiM...
MLP gets another season
ReplyDeletePinkie pie throws a party.
I can't say I'm looking forward to futurama, since it was taken over by comedy central it's just become pop cultural 'simpsons in space', where every minor celebrity still gets guests appearances by head jars.
I liked the forward time machine episode
ReplyDeleteNow more official:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.deadline.com/2011/03/the-hub-orders-9-new-series-renews-10-shows-acquires-5th-grader
The one thing I couldn't help but look at in the Top Drawer picture is the unique building styles in the background. They may be tiny, but could this possibly mean we get to see more locations of Equestria?
ReplyDeleteThe building style does remind me a little of Canterlot, so hey! Here is hoping for some interesting travel for our favorite ponies.
"I AM GETTING DRUNK
ReplyDeleteJUST BECAUSE OF THIS
TODAY HAS BEEN A GOOD DAY "
VOPO?
D.dd.dd....december???
ReplyDeleteGLORIOUS.
ReplyDeleteSix months of body preparation... just may be long enough.
Awesome!
ReplyDeleteYou know who I would like to see reappear in season 2? (If not sooner...)
Other than Gilda of course,
The flower ponies! I have been waiting for them to reappear since, what, Briddle Gossip? The horror... The HORROR!
mBisonYES.gif
ReplyDeleteYES!
YEESSS!!!
YES!!!
ReplyDeleteThis has made my day :D
As long as MLP has thousands of us adult male fans, it won't be canceled any time soon.
ReplyDeleteOh well these are going to be some tough months without the ponies. But we still got 6 episodes left and somehow we will mange to overcome these months. Bronies will prevail ! But I'm glad that they're doing a 2nd season, hopefully airing not later than the coming winter wrap up ;)
ReplyDeleteYeah and also curious how the dubs will turn out, but i doubt they will be as good as the original
ReplyDeleteNot that I ever had any doubts even for one second that there would be another season---but WHOOOOOPEEEEEEEE!!!!!! While I've always got way more than enough going on in my life to occupy me, the wait for more is gonna be hella hard. How shall I survive?!? ;___;
ReplyDeleteWell, the good news is that most of my obsessions never die. At worst, they fade over time (but the love remains forever, always able to be reignited to its former intensity at the slightest random thought.) For ponies....I cannot see the obsession decreasing at all anytime in the remotely foreseeable future. I'll still be watching my new favorite channel, the Hub, since it rocks hardcore and is apparently going to be introducing more new shows.
Lot of good animation-related news out, it seems! :D Lovely. Huzzah, Futurama and all!
My excitement and anticipation regarding the future of MLP is immeasurable. :33 Allow me to again express my pleasure at seeing how many other INSANE and awesome people are freaking out over it. Ahhh, it sure feels good. =D
Oh, and I bloody ADORE the Animaniacs as well!!!
Thank Celestia I (so far) have one RL friend with whom to celebrate this confirmation, as well as sweat out the long, hard months 'til MOARPONYTIME.
ReplyDeleteNew season? wow! hope it runs till season 5! LOL
ReplyDeleteBut I still would love to see another new MLP animations!
I hope they put season one on DVD for us bronies.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous
ReplyDeletedid i hear something about a pony MMO?
dust mine ears decieve me? i may have shat mine pants a lil bit
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to the inevitable 3DS game
ReplyDeleteI just HOPE the cartoon wouldn't last just THREE seasons like Transformers.:(
ReplyDeleteBut when does seson 2 premeire?
ReplyDeleteHmmm... what to do till season two stars... I know!
ReplyDeleteWATCH SEASON 1 AGAIN!
omg MLP is now 20% cooler
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it just be great if MLP FiM gets release schedule advice from VALVe?
ReplyDeleteThe first season was really good don't get me wrong but I think that they need more awesome greek monsters like the Hydra. Like maybe the Chimera or Cerberus. What I guess I'm trying to say is that they need cooler villians because the ones I saw kinda epic failed.
ReplyDeleteIn season 2 it would be awesome to have a dinosaur that after being frozen in ice for so long unthaws and gos on a rampage. Or what would be awesome is if they had a human villian
ReplyDeleteGreek Monsters,Dinosaurs, and a human don't add up to a great villian like Cthulhu does.
ReplyDeleteZombies would make awesome villians
ReplyDeleteNo, what would make awesome villians in season 2 would be robots and it would awesome if they had a 'I Robot' moment and tryed to take over the town
ReplyDeleteI know i'm a little late on the news
ReplyDeleteBUT I CAN'T WAIT!! =3
awesomeness
ReplyDeleteMy day just got about 20% cooler.~
ReplyDeleteWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous All Right!!!! 8D more ponies! I can't wait, i just finished watching season 1 twice and i am anxious 4 season 2!!!
ReplyDeleteThese comments are so funny...I mean..this show was aimed at girls 13 years and younger....and it has effected more or less every age group above and below in a postive manner...I mean..my friends in collage watch this and are huge fans lol
ReplyDelete@TooneyD
ReplyDeletebest idea ever
@AnonymousBetter invite Pinkie Pie :D
ReplyDeleteFlint Hazelip-
ReplyDeleteeffin awesome. i wonder and hope if they are gonna bring in some humans? that would make my year
I hope they make season 3!
ReplyDeleteeeehhhhhhhhhhhh....YUPP!
ReplyDelete@Big Mac HELL YEAH!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so pumped!
ReplyDeleteBut... I'm sorry Twilight; I will never forgive you for revealing that dispicable relationship you had with that donut guy at the end of episode 26.
That is... unless you come to me like Fluttershy screaming "YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE ME!!!"
I may have misspelled doughnut, but that does not, in any way, detract from the significance of this... comment, post, thingy...
ReplyDeleteIf derpy hooves is made into a main character i can die happy
ReplyDelete@KiLarrProGamer
ReplyDeleteWas that a Drake & Josh reference?
PONIES ARE CREDIT TO TEAM!
ReplyDeleteSANDVICH!
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS...IWANTPIZZA
ReplyDeleteDECEMBER?!?! Dx
ReplyDeleteOmigosh omigosh omigosh!
ReplyDeleteyaaaaaaaaaaaaay.
ReplyDeleteIt would seem this isn't true, as the second season only started in September.
ReplyDeletewhen is season 3
ReplyDeleteits gonna be awesome
/)^3^(\
Remember the good old days...
ReplyDeleteWhen seasons actually had 26 episodes...
I remember them fondly.
They passed by far too quickly.
Season 3 has only been commissioned for 13 episodes...
And that also, is the least effort required to reach syndication numbers.
Syndication is the biggest enemy to good cartoons.
It means that they can now rely on eternally looping the reruns,
and spend no more money on new content.
I am now sad.
I pray this isn't so!
HASBRO!!! Say it isn't so!
@Rich: It ain't so! :D
ReplyDelete
