I'm actually surprised there are so many other locations feeding the pony craze. Though for some reason for the last few days I have gotten 600 hits from deviant art daily, but trying to follow the link back to it's location doesn't work due to their external link policy thing. And I'm pretty sure it's not the ponies in lingerie posted on Ms. Fausts DA account (gdi anon are you serious..)

ReplyDeleteI've always had a soft spot for cute stuff, and when I was much younger, I was kind of interested in the G1 MLP show, but I never had the chance to get into it. Fast forward to 2010, I read somewhere that a new show was starting, but since the 90's shows had been embarassingly crappy, I didn't make much of it... until I started seeing all these pony macros floating around.

And I thought, "I just HAVE to watch this!". I found it, I watched it, I loved it, I obsessively researched all info sources I could gather, and I ended up liking this site the most.
I saw a thread on 420chan. I try to validate the presence of pony threads there, but the userbase generally sees the pony craze as a meme and can't understand that people actually like the show. There's still a thread on /mtv/ iirc.

And of course I wouldn't have gone back to watch the show in the first place if not for all the stuff that popped up in my FurAffinity/deviantArt/Youtube/Twitter/Livejournal. In particular, this guy's drawing of Pinkie Pie from 2006 (Which I'm sure I saw on FA instead of dA the first time...) is the one that made me give the show serious consideration and a second chance. And that picture only exists because of MLPArena, so by that token you could say MLPArena is responsible for me being here. All of those sites (except perhaps Allspark and PA Forums, but chances are I stumbled across them too when googling) had some role in getting me here.
Somethingawful over here. Mods allowed a pony thread, but they got flooded with complaints, so they banned friendship.

I thought some of the images were funny so I went over to /co/ to see what the fuss was about. I got a link to the episodes, started watching, got hooked, here I am.

I also have a DA account, but I haven't touched it in ages. Maybe I'll post any MLP fanfics I come up with on there, as I know there are bronies that would rather avoid FA.

ReplyDeleteI hail from the Twilight Sucks forum. To make a long story short the mods started a war among themselves. I allied myself with the pony faction because I love cuteness and friendship and shipping potential. Then I watched the first episode and the rest is history.

ReplyDeleteScott nuked it. I wasn't a member, but I found an explanation from an ex-member over at deviantArt. Short story long, e-drama happened, but not a ponycalypse.
A few of the members have reconvened elsewhere. I imagine some of the VG Cats FiM crowd is over there by now.
And I'm guessing the "RIP PONYVILLE" message is hinting at said crowd, which was growing nicely - never mind that Pinkie Pie & Applejack popped up in a recent VG Cats strip.

For my part, I, uh... saw a few pics on *coughRule34cough* and kinda went, huh, guess I'll check that out... and after one episode I was impressed that a parent would be able to watch this with their kid without committing seppuku. After two eps, I was hooked. I found Equestria Daily using Google. :)
I was on Youtube and found that Epic(7 artists) AMV. The scenes used and the high quality of the video was enough to get me to watch the first episode. Then the next, and soon enough I had watched up to Sonic Rainboom, in a single marathon viewing. Needing more, googling brought me here. This site is now in my bookmarks.
