Hasbro has announced a new convention this year for September, completely online like everything else going on right now. The intro video doesn't actually mention pony, but it does include an "and more" section. Hopefully that means we will get some!
Expectt it on the 25th of September and running until the 26th.

With covid continue to be a nightmare for any form of travel, Alicon 2020 has decided to close down. They join pretty much every other convention that has shuttered for the year, though they don't have plans for 2021 yet and are using this more as an official goodbye. They do mention a possible return some time in the future, but nothing is planned yet.
Get the presser below.

After a short break, the crew over at PonyFest Online is running another online convention for September, this time with a much bigger preparation phase. Expect artist alleys, panels, and loads of pony as always! We will keep you updated once the event is a little closer.
Thanks to Bismaz for the heads up. -
While in-person con season seems to be canceled for the forseeable future, several conventions are still putting up online alternatives for you all to enjoy. On August 1 2020, their originally scheduled weekend, Ludwigsburg-based Galacon will host their online version: Galaconline 2020.

The chair behind Everfree Northwest is running an open convention poll to gauge how the fandom is spread across the US in terms of which conventions cover which location well enough. Maybe it will spawn a con in a place that has a ton of fans without an event nearby?
Take the poll over here if you are a convention goer and want to help out! -
SDCC Kinda happens this month, and there will apparently be a brony panel at the event this year with a bunch of convention runners chiming in with their experience on pony. Since SDCC is all streamed this year, you will be able to watch it online.
Exact description:
Eliana "Dexanth" Summers (founder, PonyFest Online), Cole "Simul" Daigneault (chair, Everfree Northwest), Andy "FableCharm" Reyes (chair, BABSCon), and Ted Visser (chairman, Pacific PonyCon), discuss the fandom of Hasbro's My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic in its first year after the show's finale. Moderated by James Udan (coordinator, San Diego Wikimedians User Group).
You can find the page for it over here.

Sad times all around for the convention season this year. Everfree Northwest has officially announced that their convention this year will not be happening. Like what other cons are doing, you can expect to see it arrive next year on August 13-15 instead. Badges can be rolled over, fully refunded, or you can donate it as a charitable tax deduction. Something these cons will probably be very happy to see with how badly this is going to hit a lot of them this year.
You can read the full writeup over here. -
Another convention has joined the others in shutting down in the face of the Coronavirus that continues to shut down major gatherings around the world. The convention will still be hosting small events around that time for people interested, and people can transfer their pass to the new date when it's announced if already pre-ordered.
Get the information below if you were planning to attend.

Unfortunately with the spread of coronavirus around the globe this year conventions everywhere have had to postpone their festivities in the name of keeping attendees safe and keeping the virus from spreading further. The latest casualty of the pandemic would appear to be SeaBronies who have put out a presser confirming the cancelation of Expedition 5.

The first edition of PonyCon Holland will be held at the Figi Hotel & Theatre in Zeist, The Netherlands.

For the last half a decade, the Crowne Plaza Addison venue has been a home to both Nightmare Nights Dallas and HarmonyCon every year. Apparently Coronavirus will be ending that tradition. They have announced that they have shut down and will not be re-opening at all going forward, leaving that specific venue gone for future cons.
HarmonyCon is currently seeking a new home base for 2021 following the news. We will let you all know what they eventually decide on. -
TrotCon has joined all the other shut down summer My Little Pony conventions in cancelling their event for this year. July 16, 2021 is the new date for the next event if you've been looking forward to it.
They will be offering full refunds on bandages up until June 9th, but offer the ability to roll your badge over to the 2021 event instead. As with most pony cons, these events are usually barely breaking even, so going that route would definitely help them out tremendously.
You can read their full writeup over here.
In other news, if you'd like to continue supporting artists while convention season is essentially obliterated, there are plenty of online cons happening with full on artist alleys. Check em out here. -
Last February we saw the last edition of Hearth's Warming Con in the Netherlands. But luckily pony fans in the Netherlands and surroundings have a new con to look forward to next year. A new Dutch pony convention, PonyCon Holland, has been announced with June 5 and 6, 2021 set as the dates for their first edition.
Find the announcement over here or below the break.
