My understanding is that crossovers ...@Bombedrumbum
My understanding is that crossovers will never be allowed on Kindle Worlds. The system basically works by Amazon buying the rights to fanfic within a fictional universe, so they can pay people to write within that universe; if a story includes multiple IPs then it all breaks down even if they have rights to both.

And honestly, I think it's kind of unlikely that Hasbro will ever join in. If they get part of the royalties for a story, it looks like they're approving of it in some way even if they never call it canon. That's fine for an IP like the Vampire Diaries or whatever, but a big part of MLP's value is how it's seen as a healthy, wholesome thing for little girls. And yes, there's supposed to be somebody filtering out the porn and gorn before any of it gets published, but there's no way that's going to be 100% and Hasbro isn't likely to trust something so important to somebody outside the company, when a single error and a poorly placed reporter could make it look to all the world like a manufacturer of children's toys is selling pornography.Sindrihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15978589631249162904noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1865775941337421610.post-45278446958319121072013-06-07T01:27:57.482-06:002013-06-07T01:27:57.482-06:00Well, since nobody else has seemed to have mention...Well, since nobody else has seemed to have mentioned it, I guess that I will.

Amazon seems to be entertaining the idea of selling fanfiction. I'll get to the point- if a fanfiction like this won't make it, then I don't know what would be considered.

And now for the counter. Perhaps Amazon won't be interested in it, maybe because it's available for free elsewhere, or that it is fanfiction of copyrighted material made without the original owners' permission and consent. It's fanfiction, plain and simple. Quite frankly, I don't get how Amazon will be able to sell fanfiction of copyrighted material.

The've said that they've secured rights for some shows already, them being from Warner Brothers. If they want to expand the fanfiction, then they will have to tackle other companies. The probability of them negotiating out a deal with Hasbro is probably slim, not to mention that it's also using a video game as a crossover (Fallout), so there's also that to deal with.

I just thought that I would say that, because if there's a fanfiction out there that would be worth paying money for, it's this one. It's got a great story, it certainly would give consumers quite a bit to chew through, and people would be getting (literally) the most for their money what with the length.

Oh, and regarding the above discussions, the author Kkat has intentionally left it as a mystery. She has decided that it be so, so there is no definitive answer as to what exactly happened.

As much as I myself don't like it, Kkat has not written anything else that is shared with others. I'm fairly certain that there's some other things that she's written, but I'm pretty sure that not only are they private, but they're also probably not full-length stories either. I mean, I remember her once being quoted as saying that after leaving college, this is the first story that she has completed really, and with the amount of time and effort put into it, I can understand why she would not wish to go through it all again. God bless, Kkat. I hope that you're doing well in whatever or wherever.Bombedrumbumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01146159021397727506noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1865775941337421610.post-52967343151222758322013-06-07T01:04:59.342-06:002013-06-07T01:04:59.342-06:00@Kkat

We know she went into Canterlot to deliver things at Pinkie's instructions, we know she encountered Gilda shortly after that while exhausted and out of healing potions. Then the recording ends. By the time ...I completely fell behind this story. By the time I was aware it existed, it was already insanely long, and I just couldn't find it in myself to read any type of fanfiction THAT long.

I finally decided to give this story a try, and I must say, I was completely blown away.

I've never played the Fallout games, and even after reading this, I almost don't want to. I could tell which elements were likely referencing the game, and I highly doubt the game is anywhere near as rich in it's story.

So, onto the big points.

First, I love post-apocalyptic settings, because of the rich emotional content that often accompanies them. This was completely evident right at the start, but driven home even more so by the halfway point, where all her friends come into play, and thus the emotional content is ramped up to a much higher level. The world hasn't changed, but now there are characters you care for, making each smile, laugh, hug, or self-reflection that much more powerful, because you know how volatile the world is, and it's an amazing feat.

There really are no words to describe how good this story is, because reading this isn't reading a story. It's experiencing the world first hand. I can often get lost with multiple settings and places, but this story painted the entire world, literally seeing the entire setting like standing on one of the towers, a clarity often lost with even highly published books, and almost never in fanfiction.

I've often had dreams with a post-apocalyptic twist, usually revolving around me and a small group of friends fighting to survive in a hostile world. This story didn't just blow me away, it was as if I was really there with them, experiencing the same thing as intensely and emotionally driven as my dreams, leaving me with a gaping hole in my heart, like awaking from an emotionally jarring dream and feeling out of it the rest of the day, only this time, lasting much longer, because I can't focus on anything else. The story is both a blessing, and a curse to me, leaving an emotional hole that I have no idea how to repair.

Or perhaps these emotions are a saddening realization that this will remain a story. There will be no motion picture, no game to experience it first hand, and a highly unlikelihood of even being tackled by the animators in the fandom, due to the length and deepness to the story.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1865775941337421610.post-90041937129578040752013-04-24T02:20:44.180-06:002013-04-24T02:20:44.180-06:00@Fallin' Winter

I mean he spends 200 years fighting through the horrors of the wasteland without any close friends and when he finally let some into his heart and started to realise how to best honor Applejack's memory and come to terms with everything he had done and had set himself on the path of salvation he dies. Not only that but to have the sun finally burst through the clouds for the first time in 200 years (I'm assuming) just mere hours after his death made it worse for me. He had to endure the horrors of this land for 200 years and he if just held on for one more day he could have finally seen true natural sunlight. The fact that he is the only main protagonist to die also pained me, I knew it would be inevitable for at least one of them to die but I didn't expect it to hit in such a sucker punch way. I guess what I'm trying to say here is that while I feel sorrow for the fates of some of the other characters like Littlepip, Steelhooves death will hold a special place in my heart for a good while.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15011269069195839773noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1865775941337421610.post-9205093074115061662013-04-06T07:38:28.542-06:002013-04-06T07:38:28.542-06:00Just spent the last week (ish) reading through the...Just spent the last week (ish) reading through the entirety of this story just to find out how it ended.
I think the thing that hit me hardest was Littlepip's fate. what are the canons I cant use, becoas...Question,

what are the canons I cant use, becoase I've been reaserching and I'm a little confused. the discrptions arn't so clear, and when you say not to declare it canon does that mean your story or the show.

some say that canon is refering to things that have happend in the main story line, I think. or things that are real, and in my idea the change in reality change. i,e, change of dimesion.

Please tell me how to avoid canon.

PS, sorry for asking these questions, I'm an amiture who's been dableing in writing until now.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14123441990408338790noreply@blogger.com
