• Artist Spotlight: Shadowhulk / Des1597 / Sceathlet / StasySolitude

Hello again everyone! It's been awhile, but with PonyCon I thought it was time to get another Artist Spotlight up for you guys! We've got a nice selection right after the break! If you're looking for submission information we're going to be closing that for a little while as we get caught up. Now, onto the artists!

    Shadowhulk

Regardless of what we eventually fell in love with in the fandom we all love our ponies as the pastel equines they are. Some artists really take that to heart and create work that is just as colorful if not more so than the show itself. Shadowhulk is a prime example of this style of artwork, creating works that are sure to cheer up anyone with cheerfulness and vibrant colors. Check out some examples below!

    Des1597

For those of you that enjoy artwork of a more somber tone our next artist will be right up your alley! Des1597 may be new to deviantArt but their artwork is some of the best I've seen. Using a combination of subtle and darker colors combined with excellent shading Des is able to pull off some very emotional pieces that are sure to catch the eye.

    Sceathlet

If you're still in the mood for the epic or melancholy, Sceathlet has you covered! Similar in style to Des, Sceathlet uses a mix of darker colors and shading to pull off some epic pics. What sets Sceath a bit apart from Des is the extensive use of backgrounds and the incredible detail put into clothing, armor, ect. Check out what I mean below!

    StasySolitude

Last on our list is another artist for the epic list! Very similar to our last two artists in terms of amazing pictures, Stasy shows off her artistic chops by utilizing a brilliant use of lighting to give her pictures a life of their own.

As usual, these posts are in similar style to the Tumblr Spotlights, a group of 3-5 artists will be spotlit each entry along with a small short description along with a small selection of their artwork! In order to make this feature work though we need people to suggest artists to us so make sure to send artists you think need some exposure to calpain@equestriadaily.com. Please also include a short biography I can work with as well as what medium you work in most.

What sort of artists count? Suggestions should follow these criteria:

    • No clop or extensive gore galleries as those typically violate our content guidelines. If the artist has a safe for work gallery separate from their not safe for work stuff they or their fans can submit the safe for work gallery. If there is a mix of SFW/NSFW on a gallery the decision whether or not to include them will be judged on a gallery to gallery basis.
    • Don't be afraid to spotlight yourself as well as others!
    • Artists of all types accepted -vector, OC, traditional, digital. As long as it is pony and of quality it has a chance of being spotlit.
