Try it, Seth says, what could go wrong Seth says.

    Find everything below!

So introduce yourself, what's your name, when did you join EQD, what do you do?

F: Hiya, I'm The Ferret, though I also go by Masked Ferret (Optional the) and I'm the newest Pre-Reader and technically second newest blogpony. See, The Illustrious Q is technically newer than me, but he's been doing comic posts for us for a while now and this was just making it official, and yeah...Anyways! I'm The Ferret and let's just go with that.

I joined the Pre-Readers back in March of this year and it's been a crazy ride ever since. I was approached by one of the folks I edit for who was a pre-reader and mentioned they were looking to add to their ranks and did I wish to apply.? I spent an evening hyperventilating and freaking out before calmly replying with a yes. I filled out an application and submitted it and shortly after was accepted.

After getting over my nerves at being with so many authors I looked up to, I dove into it. I caught Seth and the blogponies' attention with my obsessive desire to update the Staff Page and after showing off my organizing skills they invited me to become a blogpony.

What's the best thing about working for EQD and what do you do in your spare time?

F: It's hard for me to say. I mean, I love getting to chat and hang out with folks who I've been looking up to for ages now, but it's also really cool to get to help contribute to this crazy fandom in a way bigger fashion than I ever have before. I love being able to talk to people and help them feel involved. It's really fun to get to read and review stories and post things to the blog and see people commenting and enjoying (Or not enjoying) what I post. I love getting to help authors polish their stories and get to share their hard work with others. There's so many great things about it y'know?

In my spare time I'm co-owner and general manager for a small t-shirt business called "Animal Antics Apparel" When I'm not emailing and negotiating with the artists we work with I love to knit and sew. I'm also an active editor for plenty of great stories, both pony and non. I also study whatever catches my interest. Currently massage and photography are eating most of my attention.

What's your favourite episode and whose your fave pony?
F: Oh man, it's been ages since I went back and re watched  the episodes, I should go mainline them sometime. Super Speedy Cider Squeezy has a special place in my heart as I adore the Flim Flam brothers and their song (Yay for The Music Man!). But Applebuck Season has a special place in my heart as the first live episode I saw (thanks to EQD).

As for my favourite pony, that's harder to say. I like different ponies for different reasons as well as some I like for the fandom depictions, more than the show. For canon ponies, Pinkie Pie has a special palce in my heart, though Zecora is pretty amazing too.

For the fandom side, I really love what people do with Prince Blueblood. Just the different ideas of why he acted the way he did. If he did it from shyness, or because he disliked how shallow Rarity was acting, or unintentional foppishness.

Do you think EQD helps the fandom?

It's kind of a double edged sword. I think sites like EQD and HN and DHN and such are invaluable for showing off stuff to a wide audience, and it's been interesting watching them evolve. I can still remember the first drawfriend I ever saw, it was almost nothing but pixelkitties art and was maybe 8 images. I think EQD and FimFic too help bring people together and help give exposure to a broader audience.

At the same time I think they can be overrated, in that people can fall into the trap of looking only at EQD and forgetting that we can't find everything or that if it's not on EQD it doesn't matter. We do try to show as much as we can but we've never claimed to get everything out there and there's plenty of amazing artists and creators who we've never heard of. That doesn't mean they're not as good as the people we show off, far from it. It just means we only have a limited amount of time and space to show stuff off.

I also worry when people act as if being shown on EQD somehow makes them better than others. Being on EQD is nice, sure. But it doesn't mean your work is more valid or superior. It simply means you fit the site rules. Several of my favourite artists or stories will never be on EQD because they violate the rules, but that doesn't mean they're not as good as ones that do.

Is Seth really as crazy to work with as everyone thinks?

F: I confess, I always looked at Seth as very eccentric and silly and figured it must've been some sort of act or facade. Then I got to talk to him. The stories are true, Seth really is as crazy and silly as people think. I have had long involved discussions with him about pony shaped pizzas or about the merits of unshorn fetlocks. I've also had fascinating discussions about the difficulties of organizing and running a pony blog.

While we tend to think of Seth as very goofy and random, he is really smart and driven. We just don't see that as much as he's so easily distracted. He really is the best one for running EQD as nothing really bothers him. I've joked about how I should start a zen of Seth tumbler because he really has perfected the art of not letting things bother him.

Anyways, that's enough rambling from me. Hope you guys have enjoyed this and if you want to find me  online try looking for me on fimfic here.
