• Artist Spotlight: Alumx / Konsumo / 0okami-0ni / Huussii

It's that time of the week again my pony friends, time for another Artist Spotlight! Hopefully today's edition helps you discover some great work you weren't aware of before.

As usual, these posts are in similar style to the Tumblr Spotlights, a group of 3-5 artists will be spotlit each entry along with a small short description along with a small selection of their artwork! In order to make this feature work though we need people to suggest artists to us so make sure to send artists you think need some exposure to calpain@equestriadaily.com. Please also include a short biography I can work with as well as what medium you work in most.

What sort of artists count? Suggestions should follow these criteria:

    • No clop or extensive gore galleries as those typically violate our content guidelines. If the artist has a safe for work gallery separate from their not safe for work stuff they or their fans can submit the safe for work gallery. If there is a mix of SFW/NSFW on a gallery the decision whether or not to include them will be judged on a gallery to gallery basis.
    • Don't be afraid to spotlight yourself as well as others!
    • Artists of all types accepted -vector, OC, traditional, digital. As long as it is pony and of quality it has a chance of being spotlit.

    Now on to the artists!

    Alumx

First up on our journey into the world of art is an artist that excels at digital artwork, utilizing their skill at creating vivid backgrounds combined with gorgeous lighting to make their pictures come to life. But it isn't just the backgrounds and lighting that make these pictures so beautiful, it's the characters as well. Using a smooth style for their ponies it really gives them a look that lets them blend into their pictures, making them a part of a greater whole. Take a look!

    Konsumo

Speaking of backgrounds, not all artists specialize in ponies but instead specialize in the backgrounds found throughout the series by bringing them to life as best they can. While Konsumo does draw ponies with the same intricacy that he uses to draw his backgrounds, he mainly specializes in backdrops. While a proficient digital artist, traditional is really where Konsumo excels, drawing pieces on paper with ink in amazing detail! Take a look at some of his work below.

    0okami-0ni

I am a sucker for traditional artwork, I do admit and I'm overjoyed at how many pony artists in today's spotlight use traditional art as one of their mediums. While 0okami does draw digital artwork their traditional artwork appears to be the primary focus of their work. Rendered in beautiful colored pencil her style gives a certain charm to her works that only traditional artwork can accomplish.

    Huussii

Today we end with one of the pony greats whose art has been in countless Drawfriends. Evoking a style that reminds one of AssasinMonkey among others, Huussii's artwork is of an epic scale down to the very last pixel. What's amazing about Huussii's work is that he is just as masterful at digital artwork as he is with his traditional work and sometimes you can't tell which pieces are digital or traditional until you check the description. With everything from backgrounds, to lighting, to composition all in perfect balance Huussii's pictures are certain to make you pause and admire.
