Fans of those absolutely insane Touhou games will probably find something to love here. Frenticpony over on Youtube has released a bunch of videos of his progress on a Ponihou game.
So far it looks like he has some Ponyville backdrops added, as well as a full on boss fight with Pinkie Pie.
This might be a fun one later on when he gets all the bugs worked out! I know a few people in particular who will be all over it.

Hey, this has nothing to do with this post at all, but it's driving me crazy; I'm looking for this story I read a few months ago, and for the life of me I can't remember the name.
It's about this colt who gets locked in a room by Celestia because he's really dangerous, with his cutie mark a chained-up tome or something, and she cast a spell that makes him mute and stuff.
Ring a bell for anyone? I swear, it's driving me nuts not being able to find it.

Oh I saw this ages ago, but I didn't send to EQD mainly because they didn't have a custom player sprite yet.
This is being built in danmakufu though, which can be tricky to use if you're not using a japanese computer. When this comes out, I'd be happy to provide a tutorial for use by the average american.

(To explain, in Touhou bullets are much slower and unlike in Cave games you can "focus" - press Shift to slow down and make your hitbox visible. Sure, they're challenging, but compared to, say, Mushihime-sama's purple onslaught...)

In this semi-alternate universe, these "fights" are considered playing! Or friendly competition, depending on the conditions.
@FreezingShock In Touhou all combat leads to friendship and parties. It's right up Pinkie's alley.

Ah, thanks for the explanation. Some rapid pausing of the video during the dialogue sequences he skipped revealed some pretty friendly conversations, so all is well.

This game is a bit different, mainly with the gameplay resembling that of the Touhou series much, much more accurately.

I'd play it...though I hate the name "Ponihou". I thought it was "Touhorse" or "My Little Touhouny"?

Guys, bullet hell ponies is totally different.
Yes, it's a bullet hell game, but Touhou in particular has several unique characteristics that make it different (and usually more popular) than other games in the genre.
The danmakufu engine is the closest thing the general public has access to to the official Touhou game engine. Gameplay is virtually identical.
So this isn't just pony bullet hell, this is pony Touhou; and it's for that reason that I will actually play it upon release.
I sure hope there's gonna be an extra stage, Freneticpony. Against... Idk, Luna or Discord or something.

Frankly, I think Touhooves sounds the best.
Is this the same one that was being developed almost a year ago? I remember one with a Rainbow Dash battle where she was zipping all over the screen and leaving Rainbooms everywhere.
Ah, Touhou ^^. This was inevitable, especially with the personality of both fandoms. I've seen a lot of ponified Touhou characters and visa versa. I can't help but imagine Patchouli and Twilight would get along swimmingly.

I hold out lots of hope for this being good.
I played the MLP vs SC2 bullet hell game and absolutely despised it for many reasons, so it didn't exactly give me what I wanted from a pony bullet hell game.
MLP IS the western equalant of touhou.
I would LOVE this.
