When Twilight Sparkle receives a strange and vague warning about impending doom and disaster from her future self, she drives herself nearly mad in an attempt to stall a cataclysmic event, but her uncertainty makes finding answers difficult.What kind of cataclysm is about to fall our little ponies?! Seriously I'm more excited about this episode than any so far.

She's obviously telling Twilight to relax, but Twilight thinks its the end of the world disaster.
But in reality it's that she's going to lose all her friends and be alone.
So in conclusion, "Future Twilight" is just Princess Celestia in disguise to help her be more relaxed and not to of a workaholic.

Speculation time: Future Twilight tells Past Twilight about a cataclysm at a predetermined time. Past Twilight runs low on time before the apparent cataclysm, uses magic to go to the past to warn herself earlier, is now Future Twilight. Returns to the present, and realizes that there was no cataclysm. Doesn't travel back again because paradoxes.

It's either a prank done by Pinkie and/or Rainbow Dash, or we'll see some Doctor Who or Back to the Future references. Hell, the whole episode could be a Doctor Who tribute.

It would be cool if "warning" is actually foreshadowing about season finale. Continuity is always good.

Sounds awesome! But it leaves me wondering how a plot involving time travel to talk to yourself is going to turn into a lesson in friendship with others.

I really hope they just play this episode straight.
This synopsis may suggest that there will be no sighting of a future Twilight, but only a message of some sort. That certainly lends to the possibility that Celestia, Luna, or somepony else may be behind the whole thing.
I could see many different lessons for the ending, anything from not believing everything one hears to being calm in a crisis. Can't Wait!

The description specifies a cataclysmic event?! And Twilight driving herself nearly mad?! Lesson Zero didn't even have a mention in the description of Twilight going nuts, and now Twilight going mad is right in the description for this one?
This isn't gonna be Lesson Zero 2.0, this'll be Lesson Zero 2.5! Or Lesson Zero turned Up to Eleven!

Does her future self appear? (If so, it's likely only for a few seconds, to hastily try to spit out a warning before disappearing.)

Does it come via some experiment or contraption she's building?
Does she get hit by an Elements of Harmony rainbow from out of nowhere? (not going to happen, but would be kind of cool.)
I do hope there actually is a crisis to be averted and it's not just all a misunderstanding. And of all of the time travel film references, I'm holding out for a 12 Monkeys one, as that seems to fit the premise well.

Twilight gets an ancient Equestrian item that tells her the Reapers are coming? And then she talks to the Celestial Council of Luna and Celestia, and they're like "Yeah, you maybe a Council Librarian/Spectre/Element of Harmony, but you're crazy..."
Then Twilight goes on a madcap race around Equestria in a train called the Normapony to save all of Equestria from this unseen threat.
And if it isn't that, it could be a spoof on the old GI Joe episode, The Viper!

Bah! Twilight is no Mary Sue... She's legitimately bad at a whole host of things, from dancing to fashion to every Winter Wrap Up job aside from organization. She can have a tendency to get on her soap box and be smug in her knowledge (usually only to have the rug pulled out from under her and end up proven wrong.) Applejack is constantly saving her flank from physical dangers, Rainbow Dash is always mocking her, Rarity is always pitying her social ineptness. She is largely Equestria's butt-monkey, and subject to more pratfalls and humiliation than the rest of the cast combined.
Yes, she is the lead character (more-so last year, but still) and super-powerful (though prone to control issues), but she is far from a Mary Sue by any real definition of the term.
5 Bits says it's another Twilight-Type of cataclysm. She probably lost a book she's been wanting to read.

With all the nods and shout outs the animators slip in for us, it's more than obvious that they will slip the Doctor in a time travel episode just to tease us all. (And it will be :awesome:)
My personal hope is for this episode to be kind of the reverse of "Lesson Zero" in regards to Twilight, with everyone assuming she's getting worked up over nothing, but she really did get a warning and she really does avert a cataclysm despite everyone else thinking she's gone crazy again. And, of course, stopping a cataclysm from starting means that nothing bad actually happens, so all of her concerns about doom seem like a joke. (Think Twilight averting the supposed Mayan 2012 prophecy and then everyone laughing at her for thinking the world was going to end.)
Whee, I love Twilight and her god-like powers which backfire half the time. It'd be fun if they had another episode exploring her abilities and constraints. There was some potential dilemma material which Boast Busters didn't touch on there.
Well, it's a children's show so they probably run out of carrots or something...

I say Twilight gets a "magic twitch" that causes her to hear a BS message from a hallucination that looks like herself.

Stable time loop. She flips out because of the message from the future warning of impending doom at a specific time, and send a warning back to her past self immediately prior to that deadline in hopes that she could figure it out with more time. Then, nothing happens because there was no disaster to begin with, or if there was it was a minor, personal sort of thing like breaking a favorite quill or something.

@Ozimul That's kinda what I thought. The warning is not to totally freak out over the warning, because Twilight's freak-out is what triggers the cataclysm! I do believe they did something like that for the last episodes of "Star Trek: The Next Generation", where it was the crew's investigations into a phenomenon that caused the phenomenon (and nearly the end of the universe) in the first place. Q was involved, of course. ;3
