Quiet, Seth.Twilight for World Leader.
i voted apple jack!!
Although if history has anything to say about her future as president, she'll get interrupted any time she tries to say something.
yeah, but Twilight's organizational skills would be perfect for getting the rest of the government to actually WORK.
Twilight is best preisdent. (Germany needs a new one, right now. Send her to us. :D)
But that would be half the fun.
Rarity has been known to be a bit too OCD at times, though. Twilight is the best organizer, and she has proven herself to be a great leader on more than one occasion! :)
Twilight Sparkle would be amazing with her checklists and organizational skills, plus she'd have all of her friends in cabinet positions.
All hail the Best Pony!
I'm glad AJ got second, poor girl doesn't get enough credit. Twilight should appoint her to the supreme court!
I think AJ would be the best for such position, and Twi would be the best consultant :)
Twilight for President!!!.... of the whole World!! n.n
Although Twilight is organized, I'm not quite comfortable with having someone who often goes batshit insane as a world leader
true, but I don't trust rarity with that kind of power.
eh AJ would be better for running things where twilight would make a better Vice, AJ just more action less talking.
Rarity is best pony but unfortunately she would be worst president
She would suck as a president (Rarity) Meanwhile I think Twilight would see us as an excellent opportunity for study. Plus she is best pony as voted by the free Bronies and Pegasisters.
@Godot-17Your non-pony alternatives being the ones that are Batshit insane full-time.
Twilight would have beaten if Derpy was on that list.
just because rarity came in last doesn't actually mean she's considered least-qualified. Just that she's probably got massive overlap with Twilight. She would have been my second choice.
"Iran is blocking the strait of Hormuz? This is the. WORST. POSSIBLE. THING!"Yeah, I'll stick with Twilight, thanks.
@BronyheadSo much this.
It's not so much as what a pony owns but the contacts she has. Twilight has a direct line with Princess Celestia. That's literally having a line with God! Putting Twilight in a possition of power will end up being the most sensible solution, if she keeps in touch with the Princess for advice.
Everyone switch to Rarity?
@Godot-17that kinda disqualifies ALL of them, though.
It was the one time she went crazy, and it was her compulsive nature to appease a higher power than her own, in fact, she was trying to appease the current ruler of the nation. Seeing as how she is well organized on a basic level, enough to rally an entire town into cleaning up a whole season, she'd most likely keep a level head when given the power of a key authorative position. Rarity howeverr i can see the power going to her head and loosing control. Yes her generosity is evident, but her avarice would be her downfall. But, that's just my thought, it's just a silly poll. All in the name of fun. Being a critic is kinda my thing though. :P
I knew Twilight would run away with it, so I voted Rarity from the start. She has the diplomacy, eloquence, visual presence, business savvy, and the resolve to declare "It IS ON!" and kick someone in the face when the time for diplomacy is over. How Fluttershy got more votes than her is baffling to me. I mean, she wasn't even Team Leader of the Winter Round-Up Animal Team. She doesn't have a leader bone in her body. And people who voted for Rainbow Dash just want to watch the world burn.
Why would owning a business make a person a good leader? Sure the person might be successful but that doesn't immediately give them the ability to run a country. It's like giving a rocket scientist the ability to design childrens toys. The problems that would come up are quite explosive in nature.
I voted for TS for one reason. She is a great critical thinker. She always tries to find the logic and reason in things and never accepts things for face value.I think that is the most important quality in a President and everything else stems from that. I don't think TS would ever make a choice without first understanding the problem, listening to everyone it effects, and then doing what is right for everyone.
Twilight is best speech writer.
If I were allowed to choose a ticket, I'd go for Rarity as president, and Twilight as vice president; given a choice of just one pony, though, I have to go with Twilight, just because her magic is stronger than Rarity's. Applejack would also be a good choice, but I'd be reluctant to give any of the others that much authority...
It's official, Twilight is BEST pony
I voted for Pinkie Pie, no other candidate can think inside a chimney.
I voted for Rainbow. But after thinking about it we both agreed Twilight makes a better leader. Not enough time to practice for the Wonderbolts if your president.
Twilight only went insane when she couldn't find a crisis to focus on, which allowed her to obsess on her own slip-up (losing track of an assignment being due.) As President, she would have just brought about peace in the middle east or something to work off that nervous energy.
All the best leaders are crazy. Well all politicians are crazy to some extent - I know from experience - but the best leaders are the craziest ones.
I for one welcome our new adorkable leader.
Twilight would be a great admin, like a department head or something like that. Twilight in front of Congress? That'd go well. "Why cant any representative be rational or reasonable?!?"I think Rarity got last mainly from the campaign pictures you posted. "I want to be a princess" as a campaign slogan? I other than that, she'd make a great president. Sufficiently organized, and a WAY better people-person than Twi.
@Bronyhead Nein! Twilight should be England's prime minister! Something really needs to be done about the record of bad prime ministers.
Rarity is best pony, but not exactly best President material. It just doesn't seem like her scene. Maybe secretary of state or VP. That said, I voted for Applejack. Applejack is clearly the best choice.
Why in the hell does anyone think business experience applies to political leadership? They have entirely different goals; one's entirely for profit, the other's entirely for the benefit of its members. Applying business logic to politics is plain Bad Mojo.
@HarwickCan I just totally second your post?Rainbow Dash as president? Yes, I like picking fights with the whole world and having laws picked on their "radicalness" and "awesome" factor. And if you voted for Fluttershy then you really voted for her cabinet to run the country.Twilight is obvious best president but Rarity is second best. Poise and grace, poise and grace.Applejack is third best because simplicity is great and all but sometimes it doesn't get things done. And Pinkie Pie? Well...
@BronyheadI second this :p
I picked Twilight sparkle because I think she is smart, organized, reasonable most of the time and is not afraid to take action when it's needed.
Twilight would be an awful president. Within a fortnight there would be almost nothing you could do without breaking some kind of law or regulation.
I cna't even fathom how Pinkie Pie is in third.I think in the end this turned into another "who's the best pony".
I think rarity's position is so skewed because everypony who would have voted for her was on the twilight sparkle boat. She may well have been the most popular second choice, but in this type of poll that doesn't necessarily result in second place.
@KaijyuuIt's certainly not the only experience a leader needs, but business experience does offer some valuable overlap with governing, from negotiating to managing to a general understanding of economic forces. Being a successful businessperson is no proof of success in political circles, but it's certainly not worthless experience. Now, a successful, self-made businesspony who happens to represent the element of Generosity? That's a pretty encouraging mix right there in terms of improving the economy while looking out for everyone.
nah, even if rarity did get top place, remember how she tried to juggle her social life around her work and the other ponies and not having enough time for her friends?i think she would just end up like twilight in that sense
Voted for Rainbow Dash, <3 she is best pony
All these people who think Fluttershy is unqualified because she's too meek to oppose anyone else's ideas, come on guys. There's a big difference between being a pushover and taking the opinions of others into consideration. Fluttershy is the only one of the group who hardly ever worries about herself, and she'd be willing to listen way more than the others. That's the mark of a true leader.
who read faulout equestria knows how the mares are in politics, Rarity, apllejack than twi, than rainbow, than fluttershy than pinkie..
Lemme put my cynic hat on, it barely fits these days.Anyway, in a world where being good at politics means lying to your constituents in a manner you can get away with, I'm not sure I want the pony that would be the best politician. I'd want the pony with excellent organizational skills, the compulsive urge to do the right thing, and who's willing to seek the help of her friends that have strengths which complement her weaknesses. But that's just my two bits.
I figure Twilight would do best because she's the most... Book smart, as well the most organized. Sure, she's a bit... straightminded, but she's more suited to a leadership position than the other mane six. Plus ya know, Princess's Student and all...
Sorry Bronyhead, but the USA calls Dibs on Twilight. Our Current president (not gonna name names, but it rhymes with Osama) is currently running our county staight into the Earth's Core. (Yes, its THAT BAD.)
if rarity was in charge, the first things she would do is killing all ugly people and make the wearing of "non-fashionate clothes" illegalshe must never be a politician!!!!
first choice is twilight sparkle she is smart , organized and thinks before she decides she would be best leaderapplejack as vice president as she sure is a hard worker but twilight is the one to make Decisionsfor the others well umm rarity and rainbow dash would just try to look smart as they would be too busy being famouspinkie well ......... not reallyfluttershy is too scared to become a leader she wasn't even the leader of her team in winter wrap up
I actually have to say that Rainbow Dash would be the best president for one simple reason. In almost all cases, the president is a figure head. A figure head with some skill, but a figure head none the less. Now, Rainbow Dash would be a pretty damn awesome figure head since she's so awesome. And, she'll put ponies like Twilight Sparkle in high-ranking positions, specifically, the positions that actually get to make the decisions and come up with the ideas. In short, Rainbow Dash as president for the coolness and so other ponies can work behind the scenes and makes sure everything gets down. Also, @EasyBreeze The US government has slowly, but surely been running itself into the ground ever since the 70s. It's just now in 2000s that we can finally see the effects of 30 years finally starting to take effect.
@EasyBreezeHeh... this Applejack (votin' for Applejack) would like ta know what cider YOU been drinkin, and if the machine that made it was strangely broken ;)Which is to say ponies have been known to have contrastin' opinions...
Personally...I think a country ruled by a council of the six of them would be the most awesome. If there has to be a president, it would be Twilight, with AJ as the VP, but the other four would have to be the cabinet, but you can have one without the other five.
Sorry, Rarity. You know I love you, but Mittens Romney has ruined the "good businessponies make good presidents" theory for me.
Was there ever any doubt ?
Twilight is best president... to be overthrown, hehehe.
Twilight's organizing skills and intellect would clearly make her the most qualified; the only drawback would potentially be over regulation, she frets about everything too much at times. She would need her friends to keep her in che check.I would defiantly want Rainbow as Defense Secretary, she would defend our borders.
Rarity would be too focused on clothing everypony in excessively glamorious outfits. Twilight would be good, but I feel that she would snap quickly under the pressure. Applejack has a smart head in her shoulders, and she's stubborn. A good attribute for a politician. Hence, I voted for her.
@EasyBreezeThis is a fun little discussion about which cartoon pony would have the best leadership skills. Please, PLEASE stop trying to turn it into a real world political argument.
Seth,We live in a world where wasteful spending is a big nono. You painted rarity as an artsy socialist. Duh.
Ah, my favorite comes in first.Damn right.
Twilight's a socialist policy wonk. I can't think of anyone better as president.
@EasyBreeze Dude.Chill.First of all - the Obama/Osama jokes aren't funny anymore. In fact, they never were. At least Obama's an improvement over Bush.
Rarity would make a great president. A lot of the job is using diplomacy and tact to get multiple groups to agree and get what you want. You pretty much spend your whole life with the country's and world's elite, and have to dress nicely. That said, TS wouldn't be too bad, but being President isn't just about appealing to intelligence. She'd get killed in the midterm elections, as Obama did.Fluttershy would be the worst, absolutely horrible on foreign policy and would let Congress run all over her, unless it was New Fluttershy.
I think Twilight Sparkle would do really well as long as she kept her stress levels down. If she failed at managing that then, clearly, she'd make a ton of terrible decisions and lead everyone to ruin. It'd be marvelous up until then, though!
Bah! As usual, the green (or in this case, yellow) small-government candidate doesn't get the votes they deserve.
Twilight would be a great president, as long as she has the time to examine the problem and formulate a detailed plan on how to solve it (with a checklist to monitor how far along the planning and execution of said plan is), but we've seen she's not exactly the best pony to handle stressful situations and improvise on the spot. So when the rainnukes start failing, don't blame me. I voted for Applejack.Actually I could vote for this ticket:President: Applejack (the straighttalking, likable, get-it-done type that )VP: Rarity (balances the viewpoints, plus she would know how to put the right spin on AJ's more rustic statements and would have Congress eat of her hoof)Chief of Staff/Chief advisor: Twilight ( planning/knowledge/intelligent/resoureful, Twi makes the bullets, AJ fires them) Secretary of State: Fluttershy (come on, one look of those big eyes (or The Stare) and all other nations will cave like a house of cards, plus she'll probably do fine whn acting under orders from AJ or Twi)Surgeon General: Pinkie (laughter IS the best medicine .. after medicine that is)Secretary of Defence: RD (Let's dance...)
Fluttershy should've won this, can't believe she didn't. Sadface
Honestly, who thought Pinkie Pie would be a good president? >.>
@TeralAddendum to AJ ...that can cut to the core of the problem. See right through the lies of foreign leader.)
I had to go with Applejack, honesty and strong work ethic are very important traits to being a great leader. Twilight administrative abilities would be shaped by the books she read on the subject, lets hope they good ones.
Applejack, Twilight, and Rarity would make good candidates in a real election. No idea why Rainbow Dash is in her current position.
There's gotta be a joke here about the elements of Kindness, Generosity, and Honesty losing to the element of Magic...
@pmcollectorboyPinkie would at least make us happier and get along with others more, if we're not necessarily materially better off. Our answer to terrorists would be to assault them with cake.
Oh, and you don't want to be a country that breaks a Pinkie Promise.
More Pinkie: She'd tell the corn lobby to talk to the hoof and sign new trade agreements with South America so we could get some real SUGAR.
Applejack should've won. I mean, she's the element of honesty!
I felt a little unsure about how to vote; should I have picked who I'd think would do the best job? Or who I think would win a general election?Former is Twilight, latter is Rarity.
@TeralTruly, all six of them working together would be best. That or Derpy. She can get things DONE.
I would have voted for Derpy
Twilight: President.AppleJack: Vice President.Rarity: Secretary of state or ChancellorRainbow Dash: Secretary of defenseFluttershy: Secretary of TreasurePinkie Pie: Secretary of CommunicationsSpike: Presidential Assistant
@brony4444 I concur. Maybe the song Smile Smile Smile will be some kind of anti-terrorism propaganda machine. Play Smile for the masses to lure them away from the terrorist messages while playing Rainbow Dash's rock and roll during terrorist interrogations as "coercion".
While Twilight is my favorite of the main 6, I honestly think she would not make a good leader for long. As we have seen, small things can go to her head and drive her insane to the point where she may be institutionalized. I think Fluttershy would make a great leader because she is non-biased in the strongest sense, and allows EVERYONE to voice their opinions. That, and Fluttershy can be downright scary when she gets determined.
You don't have to worry about Twilight going crazy, Vice President Applejack will keep her honest.
I am pleasantly surprised to see Applejack score high in a poll for a change.TWILIGHT - APPLEJACK 2012!
First of all, I'd much prefer a parliamentary election. But seeing how that isn't an option..Applejack would be a terrible politician. Politicians lie an awful lot, and being honest about everything isn't going to make you popular. At all. Especially if you're ruling a Great Power.Fluttershy would be like a worse version of Chamberlain, without any of the charisma or leadership skills. I'd definitely not want her in charge of a nation of any significance.Rainbow is too reckless and rash to ever make a good leader. I suspect that putting her in charge of Equestria would have similar consequences to putting Trotsky in charge of the Soviet Union.Rarity would be okay, I guess. She's a bit too elitist and focused on wealth and appearances for my tastes, but she's a good person at heart. I don't think I'd agree with her policies, but she'd be competent at least.I really haven't a clue what Twilight would do if she was put in charge of a country in terms of policies, but I'm sure that her intelligence, determination and perfectionism will greatly increase the chances of success of whatever course she decides on. She's probably the best candidate, objectively speaking. But she doesn't get my vote, which is going to Pinkie Pie instead! Pinkie would make sure that we all share with and care for everypony, remembering that at the end of the day we're all hoofed and our petty differences don't matter. If you're down on your luck, Pinkie Pie will make sure you'll be able to smile again! She's clearly the most left wing candidate.
Under President Twilight, an Epic Pony War would break out by next Tuesday. So no thanks.
Twilight would of been my second choice, AJ for President!
Rarity is obviously the first lady.
Applejack, cause I at lest once in my life want to see an honest politician
Twilight might make a better president, but who's state of the union address would you rather hear? Obviously, Pinkie Pie is the best choice for that.
Good to see bronies tend to believe that the most knowledgeable people, and not figureheads or good politicians, should be the ones in charge.
Rarity owns a buissness but Twilight is still more reasonable and more knowledgeable in the field of politics. Wouldn't it be interesting for an episode to be Twilight or one of the other Mane 6 as the mayor?
Rarity is too OCD and strict. She might try to make sports and other uncouth things illegal. Applejack is too country. Opposite problem she might make frilly things illegal. Pinkie Pie...well as awesome as it would be I'm not sure an economy can run on parties. Fluttershy is too timid, she could preside over France. Rainbow Dash is too lazy and wouldn't give a buck. Twilight though she can be OCD as well is most knowledgeable and could handle government work. However she can go crazy too. Therefor the only logical thing to do is to have her as a Prime minister-ish figure with her and her friends as a type of parliament...Or we could just keep Celestia as head of the government. Sorry Luna you've been gone for a thousand years...go have some fun and get acquainted with modern earth.
I personally would love to see an episode where Twilight Sparkle is put in charge of Equestria for a week, to see how she handles the stress, while Princess Celestia takes a well deserved vacation. Also, I agree Twilight Sparkle for vice president and AJ for president, that being said, I voted Twilight Sparkle because she's the clear choice. Oops, my baaad....
ALL HAIL PRESIDENT TWILIGHT
@Mike *chuckles* Oh foolish mortals. You equate intelligence with honorability! Have none of you heard the term 'eugenics'? It's still quite in the minds of many 'intellectuals' these days. As a biologist, I'm privy to what many highly intelligent people come up with that never makes it into the public circles. I'm warning you, scientists are far too dangerous to be allowed to lead. It takes a certain level of inherent insanity and obsessive-compulsiveness to endure the experimental process, and some trade this for common sense and, in some cases, simple humanity. There is also a great deal of deception and back-stabbing in scientific circles. No, once you've seen the inner sanctum as I have, you realize that scientists would make terrible world leaders, for they'd know better than anyone how to destroy the world when they lose their tempers. As was said long ago, "I would rather have an honest man than a clever one." Hannible Lecter was a very clever man, was he not? >:3
I voted Twilight, but I am pleasantly surprised to see that Applejack scored so high as to get second place ^_^ Miracles do happen.(Granted, Rarity should have been right up there with AJ and Twilight)
Rarity is a fashist though. She'd turn Equestria into a Fashion Police State
but its funny to see twilight freak out!
A squirrel in a spin-dryer would make a better president than Dash.Pinkie too, now that I think of it. She'd probably join the squirrel and laugh as she spins.
@NathanWell, at least it would be fabulous!
@BronyheadI agree! Twilight for Kanzler! USA can have Rarity, they will be happy with her and she with them. :DNow where to send off Fluttershy, Rainbow dash, Pinkie Pie and Applejack?
@Alondro Uh... Yeah. Like I'm buying that.
If you think Good Business Man => Good President, i invite you to take a look at Chile's President.TWLIGHT MUST COME TO CHILE AND FIX ALL THESE PROBLEMS SINCE THE DICTATORSHIP
I think it's obvious why Twilight Sparkle won, After ten years of having Presidents being elected for "moral reasons" we're tired of seeing stupid things getting passed into law. Another thing the past ten years have done is make us lose our trust in business people and although Rarity is the element of generosity, it hasn't been at the forefront of her personality for a long time. With Twilight, we like to hope that the one we usually consider to be the smartest would tend to make the best decisions. What we we're voting for when we voted for Twilight is someone who will work to get things done right, not just "their way."
Twilight is obviously best pony for the job. She's smart, organized, a good leader, and well-connected. As for going crazy, as long as she has a goal to focus on she'll be fine. Lord knows there's plenty of crap wrong in the US for her to fix. And even if she does go crazy, it's no worse than most politicians these days. Could see AJ as running mate. She has honesty, common sense, and willpower that are sorely lacking in leaders these days. Twi/AJ 2012!
I voted for Twilight even though she's not my favourite pony. Just 'cause I still think she'd be the best and capable candidate out of all the choices. :D
Between Tara Strong's rap routine earlier this morning and tomorrow's episode, I see a good lead-in to this weekend for our favorite adorkable purple unicorn. I decided to pick the main ponies' positions based on where I thought their strengths would have the most positive effects, mixing in a few of my past experiences in the process. If this personal disclosure on my part is any help, Twilight's activities and Celestia's personality within the show make them the main ponies who remind me most of... myself. A good, informative mental exercise this turned out to be.
I for one accept our new lavender overlord.
There should be a recount. Clearly there were absurd amounts of hanging chads with the Rarity votes. And what of the absentee ballots? Our fine military bronies may have pushed the hard-working, sensible Applejack to victory.Though it's too late, I'd like to state who I'dve voted for, and who I'd think would do well in other U.S. Cabinet positions. PRESIDENT - Rarity===> The US is no stranger to president who charm their way through the campaign process over seemingly-more-capable opponents, and who better to do that than Rarity? Don't be fooled though..."Underneath the Fashion is the Passion" (her campaign slogan). Rarity will always get serious when the moment requires it, and though she has a flair for the dramatic, she ensures she sees her responsibilities through.VICE PRESIDENT - Rainbow Dash====> Rainbow has a number of high-energy personality traits that make her risky business when appointing more important Cabinet positions, but excellent as a campaign-enhancing running mate. Plus, she's pretty decisive, so Senate deadlocks would be solved by her tiebreaking vote in...well, do I really need to say it?SECRETARY OF STATE - Fluttershy====> Often of like mind with Rarity but more in-tune with the world around her, Fluttershy's love and tolerance would serve the United States well in diplomatic negotiations with other nations, while still possessing the capability to "stare" the naughty ones into submission.SECRETARY OF DEFENSE - Applejack====> A sensible, no-nonsense pony is well-suited as the civilian head of a mighty military, garnering the respect of the generals and admirals under her purview. Policies involving funding and deployment would be approved or vetoed with reason and simplicity.SECRETARY OF THE TREASURY - Pinkie Pie====> You think friendship is magic? Try the economy. Based largely on the concept of "confidence defines currency," its top analysts have often been hailed as genius forward-thinkers. Who better than to face the uncertainty than the most imaginative pony of them all? WHITE HOUSE CHIEF OF STAFF - Twilight Sparkle====> You want a position that emphasizes organization, influence, and critical thinking? Look no further. This position holds more sway the less a President is interested in running daily affairs, and though Rarity cares for the details of larger projects, she could use an intelligent pony like Twilight Sparkle for the day-to-day minutiae, which is more important than some realize.
Hmm...I should have said "Beyond the Fashion Lies the Passion." Sounds better with fewer syllables and more stylish wording. Only the best for a glamorous Commander-in-Chief!
I demand a recount, but now with derpy on the ballot
Twilight Sparkle went crazy because of specific circumstances, circumstances that have now become impossible happen. If the new episode clip is a anything to go by, She will shift to the way of Badass instead of the crazy path.
Twilight Sparkle was honestly an easy first place in this one. Out of all of them she would probably be the best choice. I don't know about perfect, but best of the mane six anyway. :PApplejack and Rarity were tied for second place for me.
I think the Swiss can have Fluttershy, stay neutral
To me it could only be Twi, Rarity, then AJ in that order. The last three, while great ponies, would only scare me as leaders!
I agree completely Seth! i even said Rarity would be good
Rarity would make a fine president, but all of her presidential qualities (except presence, I guess) are available in a greater degree in Twilight.
You know, after reading a lot of the comments, I don't know why ED doesn't set up a month or two of Pony Political campaigns, like the artist camps or Ponies go to War. One set for announcing their run and platform, another for attack ads (paid for by the friends of Trixie), and a final for rebuttals. Then take the poll again at the end, who knows what it might change.
High taxes... that doesn't fit with my low salary. Twilight for president!
I vote for the Element of Honesty. Come on people! When will you ever have that chance again?
I still stick by my choice of Rarity as President and Twilight Sparkle as Vice-President.I think so far maybe one other person picked the same ticket.
I voted for Pinkie not only because of her ability to improve morale, but because she will get done what needs to get done. Remember the parasprites? She did not let anything stop her; she got those instruments and saved Ponyville. She has been shown to be quite smart, and when she does something crazy, it makes sense in her head and works just as she planned. Also, she could predict political problems with Pinkie Sense.
I dissagree! DERPY FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!!!! :D Then everything will go derp... :|
I voted Fluttershy. It's kind of obvious people voted for the most "organized" pony (S1E11 was good evidence of that).Still though, I had the idea that a president could "speak softly". (Theodore Roosevelt used that proverb for his campaign.)
