Ah! Had a look at both earlier today. Nice callback to Scooby in the first one. And the second one was just as awesome. Poor Trixie totally got schooled by Derpy. Yay Derpy!
See, this is why I insist that we have a Great and Powerful Trixie Day. I propose October 31st, which is already established as National Magic Day. I would like as many people as possible to get behind this initiative.
1. Twilight as Velma and Rarity as Daphne, yea that works out pretty well, actually. 2. As Great and Powerful as Trixie is, she can't be best pony at everything, just most things. Derpy wins.
#1: And she would've gotten away with it too, if not for those meddling ponies! #2: In the episode, Trixie didn't even try to match the other ponies; she simply humiliated them to distract the audience from the fact that she hadn't really done anything interesting herself.
#1 brought on so much nostalgia...Oh, how i miss my childhood shows! And i'm sorry trixie, but you'll never outderp derpy, especially today. That was a losing battle from the start!

I believe it's actually Daphne but yes, those outfits/accessories suit them surprisingly well. And I am happily reminded of this.
As for the second comic, I can absolutely imagine this happening in a canon context for whatever reason. And I love it. ^.^
