Ponies are supposed to "eat like a horse" and they mostly eat hay, so if one of the girls were to go on a diet, would they avoid sugar cube corner, cut cupcakes and muffins out of their diet?
Do you seriously think you can get the Muffin Queen to diet? Also Pinkie excercises to stay fit.
Also the ponies are more active the American people as a whole. It's why we don't see so many ponies with glandular disorders unlike Pinkie Pie in that one moment when she was have a 'sense' attack.

LOL Panty & Stocking. Loved that show. MLP and P&S are practically polar opposites in terms of themes and whatnot, but they cross over so well it's scary.
@Clockwork Interesting might be and understatement XD Panty & Stocking is a really weird, perverted, gross, obscene, nonsensical, over the top, insane show, but is awesome in every way possible. Just so you have an idea of how weird it is the first enemy they fight is a Shit Monster, episodes later they fight an army of ghost sperms, and more episodes later they fight Optimus Prime and Megatron. Did I mention that they power up by striping? XD

But it's not just Twilight's mane, or the way you instinctively look over your shoulder before you fire up an episode. On Gainax's blog the developers once said that for PSG they were largely inspired by Lauren Faust's work, PowerPuff Girls in particular.
If Gainax ever decides to make that second season of PSG, I'm sure we can expect a pony episode to rival that Transformers episode... may God help us all.
Wow, I'm a little shocked some people here dislike anime. I thought the appeal with MLP was linked to the more anime-looking style of the ponies... (btw I got into MLP FROM Panty and Stocking)
I'm majoring in Japanese and will be living in Japan in just a few months, and the thought that people actually think Japanese hurts their ears is a little sad. It's a really beautiful language and it flows quite well off the tongue.

There's plenty of good ones. Hell 'Beserk' was one of the greatest stories I've ever seen and it wasn't even finished. (was still an ongoing manga at the time if I recall but only 1/2 the story was made into a anime)
Also a big fan of 'Moon Phase' (multi-armed vampire + crazy butler vampire = fucking awesome) and 'Ninja scroll' (the first one...not the "sequels")
@Evie Think you missed the point a little. IMO the PSG voices are intentionally grating or in-your-face, just like the whole anime - its awesomeness is defined by escalating amounts of WTF, not pleasantness.*
Practically any other anime sounds much more pleasant. Saying you don't like the PSG voices is hardly a comment on Japanese at all.
* although the soundtrack is both AWESOME -and- pleasant to listen to

Before I started watch FiM, when ever I saw a picture of Twilight on the internet I actually thought it was a pony version of Stocking.

Studio Gainax, dude. This 13-episode anime was developed by the same crazy awesome minds behind NGE and Gurren Lagaan.
