I was going to post this tomorrow, but I figured you bronies outside the US might want some entertainment tonight/today/this morning/this evening.
Way back in April of last year, a Pony Laggan crossover was released. Sadly it was horrible quality. I know the majority of you joined in the summer, so maybe you will appreciate this revamped high resolution one!
I honestly haven't even seen the actual anime, this is so ridiculous it works without any context at all though!

I had started to forget how amazing Gurren Lagann was after being overwhelmed with all of the other shows I'm currently watching. This helped me remember that. Still get chills every time.

I'm glad I stayed up for this. But yes, Seth, you MUST watch this anime. Although, this PMV looks like it took scenes from the movie (which has extra scenes, but the whole story is compressed down into 4 hours). If you have 4 hours of time to watch it, do so. And watch it on a large screen if possible.

Shonen anime is cool then you're 15, but it just looks dull and laughable once you get over OMG POWAAH syndrome.

Now, TTGL is one of the better shonen series out there with very high production values, but face it, there's nothing in it besides ZOMG HUGE ROBOTS WITH DRILLS. And some talk about courage, guts, blah-blah-blah which you hear in every single one of'em.
There are shounen shows that have some other focus than cosmic-level power, like Hokuto no Ken.

Watch out, we've just crossed over into the No Fun Zone.
It's great that the series started straight with cosmic-level powers right? Oh wait...hmm...actually, I remember it being a straight upwards escalation from underground, to fighting for survival, taking back the world, armies and EVENTUALLY space. To me, this seems like a straight progression, rather that BOOMCOSMIC right from the start. And yes, courage usually comes up in just about every shonen, but rarely to such an over-the-top level. TTGL is designed to be pure damn fun for which you jump on the ride, enjoy the spectacle and cheer as the protagonists manage through every obstacle, because goddammit, sometimes people want to feel triumphant and happy inside.
And it's not Hokuto no Ken. So what?

The Super Tengen Toppa is something like ten thousand lightyears tall, and its final Giga Drill is the size of a universe.

Everyone Should Watch Gurren Lagann, It's Amazing!
Celestia as Lord Genome is quite possibly the best thing ever. Hotblooded Twilight is cute, but for sheer hammy-ness Rarity might be the better choice.
It is curious how well TTGL still holds up today. I had kinda forgotten about the show outside of "DRILLS AND HOTBLOODED SPEECHES", but I guess I'll rewatch it on of these days.

Note to self: Subbed version appears to have a different ending from the Dubbed, consider watching the Subbed version when rewatching series to see if there are other differences.
@AduroNope, the difference is that the clips are taken from TTGL Lagann-hen, which is the second half of the series condensed into movie form and given an even more epic ending than the original series.
Now someone needs to do it the opposite way. With ponies dubbed over that last scene.

TTGL is the epitome of shounen. Is certantly the best shounen Anime out there solely because it focuses on exploring Will Power. If ZOMG GIANT ROBOTS is all you can see, then you are not able to see what the series is really about.

Yea for this parody they used the second movie which expanded the final fight against the Anti-Spirals and in the movie everyone (even Nia) gets their own Super Robot and they actually managed to make the final anime fight MORE over-the-top

I guess I am in the minority here. While I didn't think that Lagann was the greatest anime ever made. Honestly.. characters who think that they can become invicible through sheer machismo and guts annoy me. The charcter I had the gretaest sympathy for was Rossiu, particularly in the second half of the series. Rossiu is trying to be the leader responsible for the city which represented the last enclave of humanity while Simon just louged around going, "I'm too awesome and manly to be bothered with this managerial ####". Rossiu always tried to make the best decisions possible even though fate kept throwing one horrible choice after another at him. Yet he was portrayed as being in the "wrong." Why? Because it never occured to him that the proper course of action was to manfully swagger forth and headbutt planet-killing superweapons the size of the moon to death?

Gurren Lagann is my all time favorite anime, and seeing a crossover with my favorite american cartoon is simply amazing. I actually remember watching the original a while back so its great seeing it in higher quality. I highly recommend this anime to anyone who has not yet seen it. Epic cannot even begin to describe it.

I started watching TTGL a few days ago. This vid hit me like a sock with a brick in it. my only fear now is that ponies did it better xD
By the way, anyone who thinks TTGL is amazing should look into Gunbuster and Diebuster (in that order; Diebuster is a sequel.) Gurren-Lagann is basically a love letter to those series; the Simon-Kamina relationship and the cross-armed pose are straight out of Gunbuster/Diebuster, just with two guys instead of two girls. They're also only 6 episodes each so it doesn't take long to go through them.
Either Japan has a really short supply of voice actors or I'm incredibly racist cause I think every Japanese person sounds the same. Not relative to each other in their respective shows, but every single character in this sounds like another character from Bleach. I'm going to go with the latter but the video is great regardless.
I would love to see even though its damn near impossible, someone animate the last 7 mins of the climax of Lagann-Hen which is where this scene is from but replace all the Tengen Toppa charcters with My Little Pony Friendship is mMagic characters.
Scootaloo would be Simon, Rainbow Dash Kamina, Applejack Kittan, Twilight Yoko, Discord/Nightmare (and by that I mean a fusion of both) Moon Anti Spiral, Luna Nia, Celestia Lordgenome, the mechs in pony form, Gilda Viral and so on and so forth. Dammit..why can't I animate I know just who to replace with what MLP characters!

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagaan is one of those modern works of art that everyone really should see. Much like reading Childhood's End, or listening to Frank Sinatra. It presents difficult philosophical concepts to keep your mind occupied with plenty of action to keep your eyes occupied, similar to The Matrix or Inception. One should at least watch the movies if they don't have time for the whole series.

@ambion THe version with super tengen toppa gurren lagann is from the second movie, tha canon version doesnt imply as many things as the remake/summary that were the movies.
Nothing beats the full lenght anime.
