It's a great story with a very interesting premise. That Grimdark tag isn't for show, though. It's really grim in spots and very dark the whole way through. If you enjoy that kind of thing I'd definitely suggest it.
The header image for the second fic added with mt drowsiness made me think that they all had boats for noses. I mean, the shape is perfect!
