I have to admit, I laughed. I don't like myself right now, but I laughed.
This was definitely an interesting interpretation, but still not touching the original.
I think EqD are pretty good sports for putting this up and not making a fuss over it.
Honestly, this is probably the funniest pony video I've seen in a while. It had a good plot. I haven't even read Rainbow Factory (though I did have a general idea what it was about) and I was still able to follow what was going on, which is what any good parody should do: be funny if you're aware of the source material, but still stand on its own merits if you don't.
It was very well written, all the characters (even the one-off ocs from the fanfic itself) had a lot of personality.
I've been a fan of the Mentally Advanced series and Rainbow Dash Presents from the beginning, but this makes me have a whole new respect for FimFlam and his team. You can just tell a ton of work went into every aspect of this. The writing, the song, the art and animation, it's really great to see that much work in a pony video. Great job guys. You're awesome.

Dear Princess Celestia, today I learned that there are many different ways to judge quality. Something that may seem amateurish and worthless to one pony may hold a wealth of meaning and entertainment to another. We grow when we expose ourselves to things beyond our comfort zones. That's why we need to accommodate different tastes within the community. Thanks to sites such as this one, my musical horizons have expanded through PMVs. I like to see how quality can show in different ways. Sure, the animations not anything like Epic Pie Time, but the length of the video and hordes of jokes far more than make up for it.

If you guys enjoyed this one, -hear me out first- you should check out FimFlam's RD Presents Cupcakes. It's like this, nothing really bad is shown, and what is shown is humorous. These guys do a really good job of taking notoriously disturbing fanfics and make them funny. Truly giggling at the ghosty, so to speak.

Video was really funny (though pacing was a bit bumpy and long). Lots of meme fodder, hand-drawn frames, songs and references. I can certainly see why they were pining to get properly posted.
On the other hand, the tongue-in-cheek EqD slam at the beginning, eh... True, it is the "job" of the EqD staff to filter through all of the pony content out there and hand-pick all the gems, but on the other hand running the site is just a hobby for them. And yes, you can act professional regarding your volunteer work, yet I hold them to a lower standard than a place that actually has paid full-time employees. I guess I'm trying to say, yes EqD missed a good series, but I'm also willing to cut them some slack. Kudos to both sides for keeping a sense of humor about it, though.

Also maybe I'm completely offbase... Wouldn't being part of the Roundup post be considered a bigger honor than being lumped into a a Video post with 3-4 other videos? Both would be inferior to a solo post like this one, sure, but I was surprised that they felt slighted by featuring in the Roundups... *shrug*
I love Rainbow Dash Presents. Absolutely silly, nonsensical and very fun. it really helps if you've read the fics they're parodying though. Because it becomes very run-on and off-topic as it were. It especially makes light-hearted fun of the darker fics. My favorite still being the Cupcakes episode.

Just the fact that I've never heard of these guys before at least tells me that stuff in roundups is sometimes easy to miss. Then again, I'm not usually very observant.
Btw, the "bashing" at the beginning wasn't that bad. There was nothing in there that was 'below the belt' or offensive. Insults are one thing but satire is all in good fun.

@Pav Feira The problem wasn't that they were in the roundups, but as footnotes in the roundups. To give you an idea of the type of attention a video gets when they do that, a friend of mine and me made two videos that got posted on the site, they were the two princess Celestia letters that the TF2 sniper and GLaDOS read. One got it's own post and has over 100k views, the other was a footnote and has less the 10k views last time I checked(though that may also have to do with people watching the GlaDOS-fied version instead). If it's part of a series of vids then it will at least have it's name in the title or in a list before the break though, and will probably get more attention then if it were part of the nightly roundups.

It's funny, back when he did Bubbles, I was pretty much thinking meh. Now I watch this and many a hearty laugh was to be had. I feel I have misjudged, how shameful.

Having read Rainbow Factory some time ago, and not having the faintest idea what on Earth I was watching, I was a little anxious about this. But am I ever so relieved to find this to be a hilarious gem. The images were endearing and captured the characters well, the voices were great and often hilarious, and the parody storyline was crammed with jokes and a cheerful vibe to it.
This is the sort of parody I crave, something that doesn't resort to the easy route of gore, over-the-top racism, and lame jokes such as what the .MOV series has become. This went the extra mile to keep things more or less clean, keep things upbeat and silly, while firing a thousand different jokes and gags for the whole video.
My personal favourites were Scootaloo's character (the silly, flirty behaviour just worked), the part with "GET IN ZE VAN", and the part with the two Sweetie Belles saying "The head is on backwards!".
So yeah. This was amazing. The humor is strangely reminiscent of Invader Zim and Teen Girl Squad. The opening and the part with the puppy and Sweetie Belle's voice were crack ups.

Frankly it's ending improves the original Rainbow Factory.
But Rainbow Factory, WAS a parody, so this is a parody of a parody...oh wow, they closed the circle, so in parodying a parody, they turned it back to the warm hearted joke filled, pony centric story that. I think I just broke something in my mind.
(P.S. Rainbows little dance when she was trying to sing was cute)
Wow. This really took the cake. Dat intro, best way to hook someone to sit through the rest of the half-hour vid. I only got one reference, the Legends of the Hidden Temple, but so many memories! I was using earphones and my sister was "is there something wrong with you?" because I was grinning so much. Characters are funny as usual, and the dialogue is great. Only gripe I can come up with is the song - I couldn't understand half of it. I'm holding out for the lyrics list so that i can enjoy it in its magnificence.

I think that it's pretty bad that FiMFlam had make satire out of himself just to point out how little recognition he was gettin, considering how good his stuff is.
There's one thing that's always annoyed me on this site and in the fandom in general. That being that people treat Friendship is Witchcraft as the "official" abridged series. The very latest episode was good yeah and the one before it had Pinkie's Brew (pretty much the only highlight) but the one before that were pretty weak. FiMFlam has put out so much more content and it's all high quality humour.
I always wondered why such as awesome series was never featured on The Trixie Variety Show.

FiW is a lot better but I think the Rainbow Dash Presents/Mentally Advanced are notable enough to get solo entries too. Also I haven't seen Shed.mov get a post but maybe that's just because it's so gory.
I haven't read Rainbow Factory but I have seen and heard the music and PMVs that were inspired from the fan fic and I do have a vidid imaganation so I know what I was getting into with this. I thought it was a great parody of the fic and the references were great. I am going to look at his other videos now.

We need to pass on more of that Love ansd Tolerance through the community more often, god knows people still flip out over things like that fic you posted! (which isn't actually all that bad now except it mentions Drug dealers/addicts which is like my only real main complaint about it really. Drugs in Equestria no thank you.)

yeah Seth prefers female voice overs but Mentally Advance series has always deserved a spot on the page imho, it's just they depict less cutesy wutsy and treat Fluttershy like a nuisance :P

It bothers me that people treat the two like they're in a battle to the death against each other. They're both good for different reasons.
There's more than enough room on the internet for both of them; It doesn't have to be a contest.
And who are you to say that one has more work put into it than the other? And how is that a merit for how good something is? I could put hours of effort into just making a character's arm move in Flash and it would look terrible, while an experienced animator could probably do the same thing in a minute and make it look amazing without breaking a sweat. One would take more effort and would look terrible. The other would take nearly no effort at all and would look great.
If you want to be helpful, you could give a list of specific details that you think could be improved and maybe even how they might be improved. Instead, you're being a fanboy who thinks one is better than the other because a character said so in the video.
TL;DR - You're not helping the problem.
