Just a reminder for those that wanted to see the MAD TV pony thing tonight (With the actual Tara Strong playing as Twilight).
It starts in a few minutes on Cartoon Network (Or already aired in some places apparently). I'm sure we will have a million Youtube rips in a bit, but for now, go watch it on the actual channel!
Watch it below!

Um... There was nothing particularly bad about this... But there was nothing really great about it either. I mean, it was fine, but really not all that funny.
ReplyDeletewhat did i just watch? ...and why did i find my self enjoying it?
ReplyDeletegawd MADtv makes for strange TV
I lost at "Go Bronies" cake.
ReplyDeleteCry havoc and let slip the ponies of wa... oh nevermind
ReplyDeleteDa fuq did I watch?
ReplyDeleteWhy does MAD try so hard, it's like they have a random number generator telling them which shows to mix together and they HAVE to go with it
surprised by the bronies bit, but as always, MAD TV continues to pull lame stuff out. still, its pinkie pie. she ain't gotta explain nothin'
ReplyDeleteWell... to be honest, the only thing I didn't laugh at was the ponies. That sorta... well, it was worse than expected in the vein that it was stupid in a unfunny way.
ReplyDeleteThat...
ReplyDelete...sucked. MAD had gone downhill big time.
I'll wait for Robot Chicken's. They already did a far more hilarious pre-FiM MLP skit, I'm sure they can do another one specifically targeting FiM.
I think the actual use of character names, like Pinkie Pie here and Applejack in Cowboys vs Equestrians is allowable without permission because it's a parody.
ReplyDeleteSo it's highly unlikely that Hasbro had anything to do with this, as some have suggested.
Tara Strong told me to watch it, so I watched it. I'll watch anything that has her voice in it. (Otherwise, I would have never given Drawn Together a chance in a million years)
ReplyDeleteThis really wasn't all that funny. I laughed at the Tintin joke, and "walking to France", but that's it. I did however fangasm when I heard the Twilight voice (go Tara Strong!), so that counts for something.
@Asylum: Thanks for the even better video link!
ReplyDeleteAs far as parody shows go, like a previous poster stated, Robot Chicken is the superior show.
ReplyDelete@Raefire
ReplyDeleteMy Little Pony, Apocalypse Pony, punish mankind for their sins!
I'd love to see Robot Chicken do a FiM parody. And here's hoping they do, since Seth Green may be a Brony...
http://www.mylittleponynews.com/2010/10/seth-green-and-my-little-pony.html
As with all MAD skits, I could write them better. BUT, we did have some Tara Strong and a shoutout to Bronies soooo... It's awesome XD
ReplyDeleteWell... That was... um... Disappointing.
ReplyDeleteSo many people seem to hate this video.. I found it was hilarious! So awesome!
ReplyDeleteMeh.
ReplyDeleteI'm awaiting either Robot Chicken or South Park to do something with MLP. Not sure why they haven't yet.
ReplyDeleteThat wasn't particularly funny, but it was pretty cute. I approve.
ReplyDeleteCan't say this was worse than shed.mov
ReplyDeleteThe models don't fit, of course, legal reasons again I guess. But apart from that, pretty decent. Have seen worse stuff from them.

ReplyDeleteI thought that was funny! Mostly lighthearted.... they could've depicted unwarranted brutality when Twi- I mean, um... the purple unicorn, shot Rainbow Da- whoops.... the rainbow-colored pony, with that magic beam!
ReplyDeleteThis was much better than I expected.
ReplyDeletei ended up watching the rest of the episode, and you know what?.......it wasn't that bad. even made me laugh a couple times.
ReplyDeleteHey! Don't make fun of Tintin, Pinkie.
ReplyDelete(also poor RD she just always gets injured)
I... I just really don't think MAD understands humor. I mean bless their hearts, they do try, but... everything they write feels like it was put together by a computer algorithm.
ReplyDeleteI approve of Tara Strong though.
It was okay.Honestly i was expecting more but twilight and the unicorns being nazi were enough i guess.
ReplyDeleteTintin and ponies? Together? The thought never crossed my mind.
ReplyDeleteIt was ok, I guess. Nothing amazing.
TO FRANCE!
ReplyDeleteI was laughing the whole time until I got a book to the face. I probably shouldn't have watched it in the library.
ReplyDeleteThat was kinda dumb x3
ReplyDeleteActually pretty funny.
ReplyDeleteEspecially drill sergeant Fluttershy
I was expecting something better too. And it WAS rather stupid. But it's obviously NOT going to be anywhere near as good as the actual show.
ReplyDeleteBut it was still awesome to see Bronies being acknowledged. *Fluttershy yay!*
it wasn't that bad!
ReplyDeleteIt was fun, has good jokes and some not so.
ReplyDeleteBut above all: "GO BRONIES".
sooooo... The cake is not a lie? Go Bronies or no? I may be more confused than Pinkie here...
ReplyDeleteThat was incredibly stupid.
ReplyDeleteI've tried watching mad a couple times. It just isn't all that funny.
ReplyDeleteI'm really sure i should not have enjoyed that as much as I did.
ReplyDeleteThis was shit...
ReplyDeleteMAD is kind of funny sometimes, but this was mostly not one of those times.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if soo funny that I am crying.
ReplyDeleteor so disappointed that there are tears of shame.
Either way it was a cool cameo.
That was pretty good - probably better than expected. All in all Tara Strong was probably the coolest factor though
ReplyDeleteYou know, there are a lot of great cartoons nowadays. MLP:FIM, Adventure Time, Regular Show, Gumball, Young Justice, Transformers Prime; plus with upcoming shows like the DC nation block, Ultimate Spider-Man, and Legend of Korra; we may be seing a new renaissance in animation. MAD is not one of these shows.
ReplyDeleteAlright, I can't lie, I did find that amusing. But I still dislike MAD overall, since their parodies are always so "out there". Well actually, you can see it right there. WW1/Ponies/TinTin. Or Cowboys vs Aliens/Ponies/Ben 10/whatever the hell else. The problem isn't the crossovers, though, it's when the crossovers are done terribly, like TinTin's role in this skit. He pretty much did nothing at all here, he was just another prop for them to be able to say "oh yeah, we totally parodied that."
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't the funniest of skits, but the shoutout, and Tara's voice made it great. And hey, they support us! It wasn't a bashing! That makes me happy :D
ReplyDeleteThat was a fail. I didn't laugh once.
ReplyDeletethat was interesting.
ReplyDeleteMeh. That was barely humorous, but I smiled at the shout out. At least I know I'm still not missing anything off of CN... except Tara Strong's lovely voice (also heard Phil and Lil's VA from Rugrats as RD!), but I get plenty of that through Twilight Sparkle already. I'm honestly surprised; they hardly even made fun of either of the things they parodied. I must admit I laughed at the Tin-Tin bit, though. Other than that it was just... meh.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the shout-out though! :D
who else had to watch with their screen tilted?
ReplyDeletebland, ahoy.
ReplyDeleteCould've been far worse in slamming bronies, but it's everything I expected, and then some. Which is to say, it was boring.
It was pretty retarded. Kinda expected it to be.
ReplyDeletePretty lame, but no worse than what I expected from Mad.
ReplyDeleteMADs humor rarely gets me laughing but due to the fact I love history and MLP, I made an exception. I was so happy to see Twilight, look-alike Lyra, and extra unicorn as the German Empire. Twilight in a stahlhelm = awesome!
ReplyDeleteNot to mention Phil/Lil voicing RD and the ever strict Sergeant Fluttershy.
GO BRONIES!
...
ReplyDeleteWat?
that was not funny to me..
ReplyDeletewow, this one was actually decent. unlike the last one they did.
ReplyDeleteMAD's skits tend to be pretty hit-or-miss, but this skit was actually pretty good compared to what they've done in the past. I don't why people are such downers about it.
ReplyDeleteThe skit had a sense of humour, they nailed the Pinkie counterpart's character, and Tara Strong voicing the Twilight counterpart just made it all complete.
Outside of the ponies, I laughed when the bloke just walked into the ocean to get to France, and later took the piss out of Tin Tin and his "European" adventures. Though Tin Tin seemed a bit tacked-on, the rest of the skit held itself together nicely.
As I've said, I don't know why some people are being so hard on it, it's quite good for MAD, and it does have some form of humour in it
My...my brain cannot even handle the epic-ness of this. It's not like the short was so amazing itself (although it was quite funny), but they use Pinkie Pie's name, and mention Bronies, and it aired after the Adventure Time season 3 FINALE, and it has Tara-FREAKING-Strong in it, and it's on Cartoon Network of all places...my god, it's like everything is happening at once right now, and Ponies are invading EVERYTHING. This is nuts.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the MAD crew are Bronies, no question about it. Just the way it was made - it was making fun of the show, but not in a mean 'this-show-is-really-stupid' kind of way. Now that I think about it, it may have been funnier if they made fun of the show just a little bit more. XD
Dat cake.
ReplyDeleteWOW... that was pretty unfunny
ReplyDeleteHeh. Coulda been worse. Nice timing. Some decent one-liners.
ReplyDeleteWell, this is interesting. According to IMDB, Kath Soucie (Phil and Lil from Rugrats) played Bubbles in early episodes of the Powerpuff Girls, and, as most of us know, the role was later played by Tara Strong.
ReplyDeleteTara Strong played the Twilight Sparkle lookalike here, and Kath Soucie almost certainly played the Rainbow Dash lookalike, even though she doesn't seem to be credited for the show.
Not bad. They should have included Rarity as the Kaiser though.
ReplyDeleteThe reviews seem to be a bit polarizing which is weird cause i thought it was funny. It clearly wasn't trying to offend anypony it was just a silly bit of random pony stuff which is always good in my book
ReplyDeleteThat bit was pretty funny. Had me rolling the whole time! ;D
ReplyDeleteWell it wasn't that bad. If people really want to see terrible they should watch more of that "show".
ReplyDeletewtf did I just watch?
ReplyDelete@The Blue Horse
ReplyDeleteI wasn't offended by it, sure, but it was just a bit too random. Comedy should make some semblance of internal sense.
Tin-Tin really had no purpose aside from being another reference they could throw in. Tossing random references together and hoping something funny comes out seems to be all MAD really does.
There were a few funny bits I mentioned earlier, but overall the sketch was just boring.
I definitely liked the LoL Cats episode better than this one. That one had rainbow dash randomly in it but aside from that, it was ok. Awesome shout out, if it wasn't meant to be insulting xD. But yeah, great voice acting all the way through.
ReplyDeleteGood god, if you plan on doing on a parodie, do it right.
ReplyDeleteWell at least we now know that no one can do ponies like Hasbro and the Hub....
ReplyDelete"they'r calling us the greatest generation four"
ReplyDeleteuhu...
"whats a movie?"
ok, not surprised
"GO BRONIES"
WOW....JUST....OK?
Twilight sounded like Raven at first. That's why I love Tara <3
ReplyDeletewat
ReplyDeleteMan that was just terrible. I appreciate the shout out in the cake though.
ReplyDeleteYou see boys and girls, when someone who makes silly internet flash videos gets a job with a popular company, this is what happens. Their silly videos get put on TV and they get paid bucketloads.
ReplyDelete@klaykolt
ReplyDeleteIt was actually pretty good parody. The jokes were a little rushed and too rapid-fire in some parts though. The cake was a nice touch and the characters were interesting. This show just automatically gets so much hate that people are almost unwilling to look past its cheapness and just enjoy some entertainment.
Caught it, it was great! I believe that Tara was two of the ponies in it though. Of course she was Twilight but I think she was the Rainbow Dash as well, who sounded like Terrance from Foster's and as we all know Tara voiced him in that show.
ReplyDelete@Icer

@Derpestia OH FOR THE LOVE OF THEY KEEP SAYING WORLD WAR ONE! ONE! EVERYONE KNOWS WORLD WAR 2 WAS NAZI YOU IDIOT!!
ReplyDeleteI'll give them a pat on the back for effort and for getting Tara Strong, but it really wasn't that funny.
ReplyDelete1. Flutterguy as the drill sergeant could have been funny until it segued into a boring explanation of World War I.
2. Unfunny throw in of Tin Tin.
3. Didn't really parody the plot or situations from My Little Pony very well. It basically used ponies in some lame WWI parody and ends up failing in parodying anything it tries to.
I thought the skit was pretty funny. I liked it well enough. Sure it wasn't the best thing ever, but it wasn't bad by any means.
ReplyDeleteI also liked the "Teen Titanic" and the "Tonight Show with Jay Lion-o" skits. I thought those were pretty good too. I can understand why people don't really like MAD, but I dunno, I enjoy it myself.
"Thunder Cats, HEY-OOOOOOO!"
@Toxic-Mario

plus you have to admit flutterage does fit a drill sergeant persona.
plus you have to admit, the shout out and obvious not bashing but supporting did give this ep a slight edge, so while you can say its bland, you can't say its flame.
@Sai
ReplyDeleteThink calming thoughts. We know the Nazis were in World War II.
That said, Hitler fought in World War I so he must have been around there somewhere.
So much MAD hatred. Some people will never like this because they generally hate the show. I found it to be a very good parody. Flutterguy/Flutterage was portrayed well. Pinkie was spot on, complete with 4th wall breakage. Rainbow Dash breaks a wing.
ReplyDeleteAlso...
I CRY tears of disgust at the lack of knowledge people in the US have in regards to our own laws... Fair Use is a APRT of copyright law and it allows you to use things in part or whole depending on the circumstances for use in parody, satire, journalism, commentary, etc.
Why does it pain me to see people not understand these things?
The DAMN MEDIA INDUSTRY has been hammering into the public's head that copyright infringement = theft, and that you don't have the right to use anything copyrighted by them without prior permission and paying them for it...
NONE OF THAT IS TRUE!
It's Media Industry propaganda and lies!
And I want to facehoof every time someone believes in the garbage.
MAD has EVERY RIGHT to parody MLP... How the hay do you think Robot Chicken and Family Guy get away with it! They do a much better job at it too.
Still I liked this skit MAD did. It got weird near the end, but I did like it. It's funny to me, but MAD has a better chance of referencing the fan community than the Hub does, for the simple reason, that as parody, they aren't bound to limit what they cover... They could have parodied any horse movie, but they chose a war movie... and how much "ponies go to war" is featured in the fan works of this community.
That choice in and of itself helped the parody, I think.
But, whatever...
sum pepole hayte MAD cuz it sux teh bawlz loloLOLol!!!!!!!!11one
Chuckled a few times, but only once at the ponies.
ReplyDeleteThat was certainly something. Not totally sure what that something is, but it sure was it.
ReplyDeleteNever really was a fan of MAD (in all forms), but that was sorta cool, I guess. The shout out was pretty nice, and Tara Strong makes everything better.
Seth! Cereal! Phoe! Xyro! Please change the embedded video to this video, which is HD, sourced, and 16:9, and uploaded by DerpyHoovesNews!
ReplyDeleteI've always hated MAD, this kinda proves my point. It's so poorly done, offtopic and inccorect it's not even funny
ReplyDeleteI've always hated MAD, this kinda proves my point. It's so poorly done, offtopic and inccorect it's not even funny
ReplyDelete@MushroomMan
ReplyDeleteactually it was quite interesting, the design for the ponies were actually cute (it actually made me like hoof design, i mean have you seen other hoof designs by others, there actually TOO well done.
Plus they actually SUPPORTED US as a communty, sure you can say it might be better with r.c or south park, but let me ask you this... can you say with a straight face that they wouldn't flame us??
@richfiles
ReplyDeleteI mentioned parody not being a copyright infringement earlier and I agree.
In fact, every episode of Robot Chicken begins with a disclaimer saying something along the lines of "any names or likenesses are used in a fictitious and parodic manner".
@Sai
ReplyDeleteSouth Park definitely would mock us, and probably quite viciously.
Robot Chicken on the other hand might just take the concept in a more mature direction. They did it with Rainbow Brite and Strawberry Shortcake, and they even did G1 ponies with Apocalypse Pony, which is genuinely funny.
@bloodcaptain

wat
ReplyDeleteWell, wat.
ReplyDeleteYup, terrible.
ReplyDeleteWas pretty okay in my opinion. The Pinkie Pie characterization was well captured. And honestly, the gags weren't bad if you take them and leave them for that. My harshest criticism would be that this show generally just suffers from its rushed execution and brute manhandling of comedic timing. It thrusts you into a series of bizarre sequences with no time to breathe between jokes.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I think a lot of this criticism is a mismatch of audiences. The bronies here get testy if there's no substance to analyze. This is pointless fluff, and that's the point.
Wasted about 3:29 of my life
ReplyDeleteI want it back
as long as you don't take history lessons seriously, this was pretty awesome xD
ReplyDeleteLol....did I post here all ready.....??? dose not matter have 2nd one ^_^.
ReplyDeleteany ways I loved this.
@pixelgalaxy
ReplyDeleteAt least they supported us! if it were south park they have flame us QUITE viciously.
plus you must admit, The Pinkie Pie characterization was well captured. and the design were actually pretty cute and light hearted (Truthfully i was worry they would make it more dark humor. though i am not afraid to admit they rushed it (But it suppose to be a parody so i am not that complaining
also please watch it in better quality.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffQGRTUnJ0I
Remember when mad use to be funny? Me nether...
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'll give it to Mad. That one was above par of their usual stuff, and I squealed with delight with the spontaneous addition of Tin Tin.
ReplyDelete"My adventures aren't boring!"
"Ah, right, they're Eurpoean..."
@Nintyuk
ReplyDeleteHey dude quick question... did the pinkie design in this remind you of her filly design that was shown in that how the mane six got there cutie mark story??
MAD is just... Sigh.
ReplyDeleteOkay this is WAY better than the other one they did. I don't know why people are complaining about it. Plus, since they even allowed Tara Strong to put "Go Bronies" in there is awesome, and it also means that we have support from Cartoon Network and MAD. And I bet that all the Brony-haters started to get pissed off that we got a shout out on TV.
ReplyDeletethe ep was good it hit wast coast about 90 min ago looks like a few ppl in MAD team are bronies
ReplyDeletewelp that was a thing definitively a thing
ReplyDeletewelp
It was pretty decent I laughed here and there and said wtf over there and over here..Mad was being mad can't blame them.Shoutout for us was cool(Random note:Going to wear my mlp shirt to school for Valentines day Lol weird stares here I come :P)
ReplyDelete"GO BRONIES!"
ReplyDeleteLife=Complete
@Chris
ReplyDeleteWalk proudly my friend.
wrong place, i know, but can someone help me, i cant remember what i was going to do 3 hrs ago when i started watching ponies on youtube.....im not new to it, but i love the new pmv's and funny stuff....i have a broom, and my rooms dirty...but i cant re-OH SOMEONE POSTED NEW PICS!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOk, just had to post this because it is eating me from the inside... I have to admit, this particular skit wasn't very funny( I myself am a fan of the show) Tara strong has been in the show many times before this particular episode. And this is not the first mlp parody they have done, try to find their first one, it is way better Imo.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate them making a skit for the show but...that was incredibly bland. I waited for the humor but everything felt absolutely forced.
ReplyDeleteI love parodies, but that was pretty weak.
ReplyDeleteThen again, only about 2% of what MAD puts out is actually funny.
It is decent. One or two lines made me laugh while the rest of the script was pretty... bad. But the animation is respectable for the most part and about par with their usual stuff, and even though it turned out so-so, an A for effort and a nice little distraction. The fact that Tara Strong actually voiced a character (and I could have SWORN several other of the voices are very familiar even though I rarely watch MAD) and the word 'brony' was in there is very awesome indeed. I do not regret viewing, overall. Just goes to show that even when FiM ends, other peoples' animation is just getting started. Long live the poni!
ReplyDelete@Firemane That's what makes it MAD!
ReplyDeleteNot bad. Definitely much better than their other attempts.
ReplyDeletelol, that was pretty funny. too bad they couldn't get Andrea Libman to voice pinkie pie! that would have made it even better :D
ReplyDeleteEh, it was OK. I enjoyed it, but it was basically what I'd expect from MAD - a lot of jokes that fall completely flat with a few humorous ones thrown in.
ReplyDeleteAnd so the inevitable (and wonderful) pony takeover takes another step forward.
ReplyDeleteMii~ I find it okay. (Looking at the logo, I remember this "War Horse" movie. So I assume it's a MLP parody of that.) Surprising that Tara Strong remains awesome with a Twilight-like voice. (Now i'm going to wait for silly PMVs with the FiM clips!) That being sad, I don't know if I want to chuckle, but I guess it's because Pinkie is being Pinkie, even when she works at MAD.
ReplyDeleteP.S. High-quality (though a bit jumpy) is already at YouTube.
lol, actual voice of Twilight Sparkle voicing a parody of Twilight Sparkle; I find the idea of that pretty clever. Overall I actually liked the skit pretty well. Pinkie Pie is pretty hilarious, even in parody form, apparently, and also yes, brony cake!
ReplyDeleteAlso, the Rainbow Dash in this skit was voiced by none other than Kath Soucie, my favorite voice actress ever. Seriously, if there was one voice actress I'd add to the actual voice cast of My Little Pony FiM, I couldn't think of any voice actress who would fit more perfectly with the existing cast that Kath Soucie.
"what is a movie? D:" <--- LOL!
ReplyDeleteIt may be funnier if the idea of the parody wasn't too much exploted... (c'mon... there are a millon war ponies fanfics...)
that doesn't make me laught to much, but, im okay with CN. Anyways, that was a gift for us! Im aprove.
I saw it and lauhged my but off it was awesome.
ReplyDeletecertianly wasn't good but MAD-TV is a parody show and parody shows seldom try and make what they're parodying look the best. The biggest disappointment with this is what MAD-TV has become, I mean I remember when it was live action comedy skits akin to SNL but now it's cartoons? I am disappoint in you MAD-TV...but you do receive brownie points for giving us bronies a fairly awesome shoutout
ReplyDeleteIt really was not funny to me although I greatly appreciate the brony shoutout.
ReplyDeleteI have seen RC do some mlp skits but nothing relating to FiM yet, wonder what they'll do.
South Park on the other hand, do you think they would do an episode about Bronys that wouldn't flame us? Don't know why people would want that.
That was actually overall a pretty fun episode all around tonight. Some MAD episodes fall kind of flat and too pedestrian, but I think they hit all the right notes for the most part.
ReplyDeletePlus, the way they animated it was a pure loveletter for all the bronies.
Let's love and tolerate... Hell... let's just love it!
Kind of fun to see a pony video by them but it wasn't funny at all to me. Their rendition of Tintin looked really good and yet he barely did anything! Seemed like it would have been better to have saved it for his own short.
ReplyDelete@FMP
ReplyDeleteBut, but, I loved Princess Clara.
@richfiles
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with everything you said.
This was incredibly funny. Non-stop laughing, start to finish. Pretty much encapsulated the brony fandom in a nice, short skit. Pinkie Pie, as always, is the show/scene stealer.
That was a beautiful clip. It was greatly animated, it was funny, it was silly, and it was harmless, at least towards us!
ReplyDeleteI take that they are using My Little Pony to stick it to Spielberg's last movies, and in my humble opinion, it works great. It's not roaringly funny as the Cowboys and Equestrians clip, but it's definitely funny in its own right. Good work MAD TV!
This is win XD
ReplyDelete...too bad I never saw War Horse. Maybe I can get it from netflix when I actually have time.
@Sai
ReplyDeleteCouldn't have said it better myself.
To those who wants to find something funny about the skit, just look how horrified Pinkie Pie is at her own self breaking the 4th wall and how absurd it is for her to be in the 'real world' that way. Flutterguy makes a comeback and the show lightly parodies the silliness of MLP in how it always ends with cake and friendship almost to a fault.
ReplyDeleteIt was a well done, light parody. Let's not put down other extreme-grossout parodies like .MOV stuff (which are all done amazingly in terms of animation, regardless of tastes in comedy) and there's nothing wrong with shoutouts and parodies in general.
Come on bronies and pegasisters! LIGHTEN UP!
Sheesh, what's with all the hate? I thought it was pretty amusing. And it was pro-brony too. No need to get all vitriolic on them.
ReplyDeleteI kind of don't get the 'hit and miss' being such a negative. It's kind of like that in ALL comedy, no matter how funny the comedian. Let's just all relax about COMEDY, shall we?
ReplyDeleteWhy are bronies so fickle? We should try to support shoutouts like this and show what a cool fandom we are. Not that we're a hotheaded, ugly bunch. We can be better about this guys.
It had good elements.
ReplyDeleteEh, that was okay. Certainly seen worse, but humor is subjective anyway.
ReplyDelete@naahdude
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure what he meant with that comment was "you can dislike things without freaking out about it". And there are people who do.
Okay... this was stupid. Even for MAD TV.
ReplyDeleteKath Soucie voiced Rainbow Dash. And needs Tumblr ask pony.
ReplyDelete>Okay... this was stupid. Even for MAD TV.
ReplyDeleteUm. Did you ever watch an episode of MAD TV? A lot of their stuff are even more random and 'throw a joke on the dartboard' than this. This one actually made some sense to itself and was a proper skit. Though there's been some more elaborate ones as well.
I can understand if this kind of comedy is a bit too random for some people. But it's just normal MAD. I liked it mainly because I was really into the movies referenced and it was interesting to see how such random references came together (or not, depending on your point of view).
@RonDoNope, the cake is a pie.
ReplyDeletea Pinkie Pie, if you get my meaning ;)
Well I didn't watch it for the laughs because I didn't expect it to be all that funny I watched it for Tara's voice and the shout out I got both so im happy.
ReplyDeleteTintin was the best part.
ReplyDeleteI didn't get everything, but I'm glad we're mainstream enough to have parodies made of us on comedy shows :p
ReplyDelete"My adventures aren't boring"
ReplyDelete"Fine...they're European"
I loll'ed.
I have no idea what I just watched but YAY! Is it bad I laughed most at the War Horse dude and TinTin parts than the pony parts?
ReplyDeleteI see people aren't impressed because they're comparing it to past MAD stuff but I have no past experience with MAD neither am I quite sure what it is so I'm happy!
Got to admit I did enjoy that, was a nice shout out to us all with the "Go Bronies" and Tara Strong was just awesome in it.
ReplyDeleteWell, it wasn't awesome, but it had its moments. Flutterguy and Pinkie's silliness showed they actually watched the show, which is a good sign. The "Go Bronies!" shout-out was pretty sweet.
ReplyDeleteOther than that though, it was kinda...meh. Tintin's appearance kinda came out of nowhere, but I wouldn't have minded if they had done more with him. I freaking love those Tintin books (the movie I wasn't so crazy about, but it was alright).
If you actually have watched the show before, it's really, really terrible. Just filled with pop- culture references held together with bad puns and duct tape.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLol, they put "Go Bronies", that is AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteAnd they got Tara Strong to voice parody!Twilight?! THE AWESOME HAS BEEN DOUBLED!
Odd, but pretty sweet!
I don't get it...
ReplyDeleteBronies are usually pretty cool guy...
but mention:
Furries
MAD
Shipping
R34
Grimdark
.MOV
Cupcakes/RF
...and you automatically get a manurestorm of a select portion of overprivileged haters that come out of the woodwork to say that what ever it is that us few thought was pretty nifty, is an abomination that should be burned with fire.
And they don't just go... "That waz meh", or "I didn't liek that"... They come out of the woodwork like unemployed minions of Lord Smooze with all the time in the world on their hands and use every ounce of their passion to let the world know why such things should not exist. Why it hurts the community (as imagined by THEIR discorded grey matter), why only the things THEY like should get through and the rest tossed out, why that thing that's about ponies is so off topic it should be banished to the sun... DERP
I've seen multiple postings by people saying the MAD skit was off topic, unfunny, made no sense, that it was MAD being MAD, and they would not watch it, and so on. That's a load of horse manure. There were numerous shout outs, not only to the TV show, but to the brony fandom and featuring individual characters. People are too blinded by their trolling ways and hate to see any of it.
Grow up you foals!
Your actions only reveal you as trolls!
I'd say parasprites, but at this point,

ReplyDeleteSo are you, Brit!
Anyway, this wasn't very funny at all.
I also noticed a few people saying that they didn't know about this episode of MAD, and wished it had been mentioned earlier...
ReplyDeleteIt had been.
http://www.equestriadaily.com/2012/02/mad-tv-pony-parody-happening-on-monday.html
This was posted on the 10th. Clearly, some people don't pony enough, or you would have seen this! LOL! ;)
I agree 100% richfiles. MAD just takes jab at all pop culture references and sometimes it is a hit, sometimes not. People whining and complaining over comedy and parody us kind of pathetic. Instead if reaching out to MAD folks for a really earnest shoutout, people whine incessantly about it. Sometimes this fandom just comes across as hypocritical when FIM itself references other shows and parodies things too. I do not understand why people treat comedy like a religion
ReplyDeleteToo bad all the whining flowers over some really good references like the inexplicable friendship endings and 'greatest generation 4'
Tara Strong = Win
ReplyDeleteNot even ponies can make MAD bearable
ReplyDelete...Well that sucked. I'll stick with Adventure Time, thanks.
ReplyDeleteMeh. It had some good elements (some of them perhaps unintentional, like Dash getting hurt) and Tara voicing the head unicorn was spot on great, but for the most part it was rather unfocused.
ReplyDeleteThe Teen Titanic skit, in comparison, was much funnier.
@tsubakainoue
ReplyDeletePretty sure you can use the actual name for parody purposes.
They already used Applejack before. And they've been parodying stuff down to the name for a while.
Pretty funny. i got a good laugh :)
ReplyDeleteI was expecting something along these lines when I saw the description, actually.
ReplyDeleteIt's MAD, after all. It's supposed to be like this. I can understand if you don't like it, but please quit sounding like a bunch of stuck-up Canterlot unicorns. >:
Ok, I see a lot of "Stop not liking what I liked!" going on, but not a lot of the opposite.
ReplyDeleteThat was lame but at least it was positive attention... I guess?
ReplyDelete@Yellow 13
ReplyDeleteI personally didn't find it very funny. The only thing that elicited a minor chuckle from me was Flutterguy as the drill sergeant, but it kind of fell flat the moment they threw in that rather dry "explanation" of WWI.
But if it worked for others, that's great. There are plenty of things I find hilarious that others don't. I'm sure that this clip worked for some others.
It wasn't as if the clip was cringe-worthy, it just felt "meh" to me.
Here's the thing: MAD isn't going to do an exact parody of the show the way we want it. Hell, they barely do acceptable parodies of ANY show or movie. What worked on paper doesn't translate to the small screen, and there's just no way to please devout fans of something. How about all the Tintin fans, or War Horse fans who didn't get what they wanted?
ReplyDeletePoint is, the show is popular enough to garner a major show's attention, AND it gave a direct reference to bronies. Stop bitching.
@Shiranai
ReplyDeleteOh, I found it "meh" too, that is why my comment on it towards the top of the page is what it is.
I'm saying there are people who are all "stop hating it" and even giving some reasons as to why you shouldn't hate it. It's interesting because usually it is the other way around.
I'm confused as to what I just saw....But the shoutout was cool?
ReplyDelete@Nightweaver20xx
ReplyDeleteI do appreciate the effort / attention. I just think the "meh"-ness was a result of parodying multiple franchises at once. Just didn't work for me.
But the shout out was at least cool.
@MailMareDeroy This takes place during World War ONE.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I don't care what anyone says, MAD is now officially awesome.
ReplyDeleteReally, anything MAD produces is an acquired taste, and it's not for everyone. They pretty much acknowledge how stupid and sometimes lame or obvious their jokes can be, and I respect that.
Regardless, this made me smile, and not just because of the ponies. :P
I was flipping through the channels and happened upon this as it started.
ReplyDeleteMeh. I don't really think this new Mad show is very funny. Not offensively bad, but not enough to make me annoyed after about 3 minutes.
Still, I know a lot of people like that kind of humor so....ADVERTISING FOR US!!!!
@Kevin
ReplyDeleteThat's how they do all their parodies, that's also why I stopped watching MAD after like 10 episodes
@Quartz Poker
ReplyDeleteOML! You hit the nail on the head... with a hoof...
Whiny bronies who put down everything = Stuck up Canterlot nobility
That was... Odd.
ReplyDeleteFunny, but odd.
"She doesn't seem so ba-"
*Crazy drill sergeant voice*
Me:*meep*
So, uh... Anypony else have a hard time cleaning brain matter and skull fragments off their ceiling after they heard Tara Strong voicing "Twilight Sparkle"?
ReplyDeleteI also nearly died when I realized another one of my favorite voice actresses, Kath Soucie voicing "Rainbow Dash". "Pinkie Pie" was funny in this one too.
Monday February 13, 2012 will be a night etched in my mind for years to come, possibly FOREVER. (Or until the new glow in the dark Zecora comes out, which ever comes first.)
It was interesting to watch but ended up being pretty lame, I is disappoint.
ReplyDeleteHuh? people seem to be disappointed.
ReplyDeleteOh well, I enjoyed it.
Man what can I say about this? Well, for one... I think I topped the Cowboys V.S Aliens spoof. Although I'm not sure what they are spoofing here (I'm assuming some WW1 movie I haven't heard of) but it was pretty dang funny. For one thing, I love the absurdly large hairdo's of Pinkie and Fluttershy. It's like going back in time... To when disco was not yet popular, yet apparently the styles were. Second, wow they actually got Tara Strong. That's... That's just awesomesauce. Third, the Brony shout out. Even Cartoon Network loves us? Heck yeah! And one of my favorite lines from MAD yet: "My adventures aren't boring!" "Okay, they're European." That made me laugh. As did the cake. Heck, when Pinkie has to question the authenticity of something... You know some crazy manure went down. In the end, I'll give it 4 out of 5. Great job CN. Even though most of your other shows suck, you finally did something right!
ReplyDeleteI saw these guys when they did a Minecraft parody, so I went in with low expectations. The upside is it got a few laughs out of me.
ReplyDeleteThat was awesome! GO BRONIES! Way better than the Cowboys & Aliens one.
ReplyDeleteAnyone else notice that Dash sounded like buttercup from PPG?
ReplyDeletethe genreation 4 being the best and then the go bronies bit got me good!
ReplyDeletebut the rest of it was of typical mad standards. i really like seeing things like that on cartoon network. i hope we make a stab in other networks too! who's with me?
Oh god this is the second parody of my little pony on MAD.
ReplyDeleteIt was... interesting? Love and tolerance I suppose. XD
ReplyDeleteI still can't stand MAD, but as the saying goes, everything's better with ponies. ¯\(°_o)/¯
ReplyDeleteI still can't stand MAD, but as the saying goes, everything's better with ponies. ¯\(°_o)/¯
ReplyDeleteTO FRANCE!
ReplyDelete@Sai I'd love to see South Park take a swing at ponies; I think they'd do a much more intelligent parody. They're not undeservedly "vicious," they just mock the most ridiculous aspects of a subject. I laugh even when it's a subject I like/support, because I can recognize that ridiculousness and enjoy the humor of it.
ReplyDeleteThis just felt dumb. Like they threw up some flavors of the month (ponies, War Horse) and extrapolated from there ("ponies go to war and there's a British guy! That's funny, right?"). It has a very shallow understanding of FiM ("oh the pink pony likes parties and cakes; the yellow one has a deep man voice in one episode ... that stuff's funny, right?"). Just throwing it all together isn't funny.
LOLwut?
ReplyDeleteUmmm....
LOLwut?
What is this... I don't even...
Eh, I had no idea of this so I'm just going out on a whim that this just ripped everything off but did it in a funny way. IDK I never saw MAD before, and I had no prejudice.
I'll be honest, i laughed.
ReplyDeleteNot sure why everyone hated it so much. Oh well.
TO FRANCE!
I told my friend about this, and the brony shoutout too, and he was surprised! But sweet, a Brony reference!
ReplyDeleteLOL Fluttershy.
ReplyDeleteI fuck yea'd so hard
ReplyDeleteAren't parodies supposed to be funny? That was horrible. People only think it's funny because "OMG BRONIES THEY VALIDATED US" and because of what it's based off of. In reality, it actually wasn't funny and had no funny jokes to laugh at. G3 and G3.5 had more humor in them. And they already have a negative value of humor to begin with.
