I'll bet a Rainbow & Scoot episode would be endlessly adorable to watch. Till then, we have plushes. Well, those of us fortunate to get a hold of them. I'd go for one, but unfortunately my money is needed elsewhere. :( But as always, marvelous job to everyone that put these together.

Because clearly they are not also profiting from their own hard work that went into drafting the patterns and making the plushies too.
If people would actually pay for original plushies I would much rather make those. I love making pony plushies, but it's even more fun to make something I come up with entirely on my own. However, the fact is I can get $750 for a Princess Celestia plushie and I'd be lucky to get $100 if I made a random original plushie of my own character. If you want craftspeople to create truly original work, start paying them for it.

When you put days into creating your own pattern, and then hours upon hours perfecting it, then even more time creating the finished product, it becomes your work too. Yes, based off of someone else's work. But it's been said time and time again: good artists borrow, great artists steal.
And even if these were official plushies, instead of fan-made ones, they wouldn't be the person who drafted the plushie pattern's original designs. Lauren Faust would not be creating the pattern. It would be someone who probably couldn't care less how show accurate the plushies are (Cue official plushie photo), because as far as they were concerned, they're just characters from some little girls' show. At least with us making them, it's people who genuinely like the show, the characters, the creator. People who care how they look in the end, because it's something that we want to be proud of.
I agree w/ Heather: I'd love to do originals! I think that on a commission basis, though, you could probably do a bit better than $100. >.< I'm thinking of opening myself up for commissions, since fan pony's seem like they'd be so much fun to make!

I'm not talking so much about OC ponies, which yeah I'm sure you could do decently with on commission, but rather entirely original works unrelated to MLP. I'm sure to the neighsayers that OC ponies are still profiting off the work of others since it's still based on the show.
