Also, I just watched the French documentary on MLP and the brony community, and found it to be not only very well informed, but impartial to the whole ordeal, unlike a certain other three-letter news agency.
Well, I didn't get all the French, but it seemed like a KYM-type objective report, aimed at explaining the Brony phenomenon. I laughed when they said the show wasn't just for kids any more, then showed Fluttershy practicing her invasive chiropractics on that bear.
Wahoo a college student questionare. Now if only I could find another brony at my school.

@lagmobile why is AppleJack pretty much always considered the last in the best pony "competitions" in polls? I mean, they usually turn into "x is best pony you are wrong"- can I even call them arguments?! Then it goes all "that's a funny way to spell x", and it get's all weird. The one thing that is almost always agreed upon is AppleJack getting last.

in fact, I wouldn't really consider ANY of those characters to be "background" characters, because, um, they have speaking roles? hellooooo? kind of an oxymoron, guys.
Okay, i've given it some thought. There are WAY TOO MANY upcoming meetups for Seth to post every one. Unless, of course, there would have to be some super long independant post- back on what I was saying. He only posts successful meetups, which, from what i've inferred from information given, have been sent to him.
Bottom line: upcoming meetups in roundups are a nono. Successful meetups are working fine.

I know, it's sad.. Why all the hate for AJ? I love AJ, though I agree RD is best pony, AJ is my second favorite and it's honestly close even then. If I had to rate them in order myself I would probably say RD, AJ, Twilight, then clump Pinkie, Fluttershy and Rarity all together cause I honestly can't decide.
I also noticed it seems that the CMC's don't get much love either. Sweetie Belle is my favorite, but I love Apple Bloom too. Sadly Scootaloo is my least favorite of the 3 but I love them all.
All in all, I think people need to give Applejack and Apple Bloom some more love, cause they seem to be getting the short end of the stick.

That Jonathan Holmes comment is really ridiculous. It's funny how the concept of a furry is thrown to everyone who has a sexual deviation and attraction to things that aren't human. It's like a blank slate they throw onto anything that escapes the traditional roles for sexual atraction. But the majority of bronies are not sexually attracted to ponies, so I really don't know what he meant with that. He might be missinformed.
I checked the Reddit survey, and I am really happy with the results. Rainbow Dash is best of the Mane Six, surprisingly so even though I love it. I thought Twilight was going to win, but in the end we go for the badass of the group. And then, for the meek one (Fluttershy). Pegasi rule, which makes me really happy.
Funnily enough I'm reading this while I'm eating the last of pancake day's pancakes for lunch. The image header is quite appropriate.

But for cereal, James Corck is right on the money. There have been a good number of people who lump bronies, as fans of cute animals who have been known to cosplay, with furries who only have a part of their culture dedicated to sexual activity in the first place. I don't think it's any sort of conscious attack in the face of a culture that hasn't embraced the internet as deeply as those on this site, but it does serve as troll fuel. They're no real threat, given all our accomplishments, but it can be annoying.
BTW, slight update on the So Cal convention: None of the info shared in yesterday's roundup was official. As soon as So Cal Bronies and any supporting parties have ironed out the details, we'll be sure to alert EQD.

that french pony documentary was quite good and accurate.
I think that's one of the best demonstration of why MLP G4 has exploded in popularity contained within a short documentary that you can see on cable.
They even tried their best to compare why it's better than the last series and made for everyone by demonstrating the old show and Fluttershy snapping a bears neck.

That Confessions of a pre- FiM Brony article was great. Always good to see someone be who they are regardless of social gender roles. I have a very similar attitude as he, I've plenty of "typical guy" interests and also plenty of not-so-masculine pursuits. That's who I am and I won't change it for the world.

I lurk a MLP collectors forum alot and I've read many threads about what they think of bronies. Alot of them think it's great that many people and boys like MLP but they also don't like the 'shadier' things in the fanbase (rule 34). They are also sad at how bronies make fun of anything pre G4 and alot of them go to Equestria Daily. And they watch the show and some of them collect G4 toys.
It's interesting to read these collectors reactions of FiM when it got annouced. Many were guessing which pony made it into the show.

I honestly don't know for the French voices. Been half french half american, I usually go for the original voices. Even if you tell yourself it's for learning, go for it French is a pretty hard language to learn. So a show like that can fill you with glee and teach you a bit. You're on the right patch to speak "fancy" (hate that term, French and English are two beautiful language).
Yay! Go Derpy! Ever since she's finally been given a speaking role, her popularity seems to have skyrocketed. I would like to see Bon Bon, Lyra, Colgate and Carrot Top get some more dialog..Bon Bon's changing voices is hilarious.
