Thanks for helping with this survey! This questionnaire asks 26 questions of people who know about the show, have watched it, and have an opinion about it and the brony community. (It is tailored mostly for those who enjoy the show, but those who do not like the show but know about it and the community can respond to many of the items.) Please respond as accurately as you can. These items have been chosen to get an idea of who the Internet-based viewers are, what they like, what they do, and how they feel about the show and the fandom. This survey has been inspired by previous surveys. However, we (the authors) also felt inspired to improve upon those questions by offering a wider range of answers from which you can choose or NOT choose.

I certainly can't think of one. "Furry" (even "yiffer") doesn't accurately describe it, nor does "zoophile," obviously. /shrug
Anywho, took it, and am curious of the results. Saddened though they didn't have an option for other creative projects rather than fanfiction/art/music (game designer here, and there are quite a few fan games in production).
I think the survey was very good. Should be some interesting results, assuming they can avoid any parasprite swarms.
And yeah, also sad about lack of "fan game developer" option :/

The survey had some very interesting choices. Like "I am a brony, but I do not like the show."
Uh, how does that work?
I guess the creator of the survey wanted to cover EVERY angle.
Also, favorite ship? Argh, how can I choose? Derpy/Dr. Whooves? Rarijack? Maybe I should buck the social standards (ha!) and put down Soarin'/Braeburn (I should really get around to reading "Social Standards" when I get a chance).
I genuinely enjoy all three of the above pairings, and I can't choose!

Wasn't sure what ship I liked best out of Rarity x Spike and Twilight x Fluttershy, so just went with TwiShy.

Apparently, there is a 4,096 character limit on comments, and I didn't want to spam with multiple posts.
But there were some legitimate omissions on our part that we didn't catch in the pilot, and some omissions weren't in the scope of our survey. If we chose to run the survey again, we'd add in more responses to better catch a snapshot of the fandom and to include new characters and episodes.
Also, some of the items weren't just covering all of the bases. Some responses have a particular hypothesis behind them. So even the oddest choices have some rationale to them
In any case, thanks so much for the interest. I was afraid that the spreadsheet might not be able to hold all of the responses. My fears are justified. Haha.

Verbose, if you're watching this, it's Pyro. Congradulations on the EqD get, buddy. As for everyone else, some of you may know me fron KYM's Pony General, under the name Pyro. I was one of the preliminary takers of the survey, as constructed by my friend Verbose. The results of the preliminaries were quite interesting. Can't wait to see what the results are now that it has reached EqD. Hope you all enjoyed it.
Discord's rules are a bit conflicting.

Depends on how mine and opspe's class work goes (we're university students) and when the response rate slows down. The end of the survey and the beginning has contact information as to where the results can be obtained. I'll also submit the results to EqD, but it may not be published. verbosethetalky at gmail dot com is where you can request a personal copy of the write-up.
As for the villains:
1. That was not within the scope of our study. That is to say, we did not mean to seek out that answer in our survey.
2. In terms of villains, I'd consider there to be only two in Nightmare Moon and Discord. I wouldn't consider other antagonists like Trixie and Gilda to be villains, so it'd be an either or question.
3. We had a lot of questions we could have asked, but we wanted to keep the survey relatively short. We didn't want respondents to get halfway and quit because it was just so long. Also, we were not offering any direct compensation, so we felt an ethical need to make the experience as quick and painless as possible as per my training.
Also, you seem particularly skeptical. I have two bachelor's degrees in the social sciences along with over 3 years of research experience in methodology and dissemination with a few peer-reviewed publications and presentations in my name. I'm at least decent at this sort of thing. ;) If you'd like to ask more about the survey, then send me an email at the address above. I'd love to tell you about how we came up with the collection tool and give more details about our aims (along with the results of the pilot of which Pyro spoke above.) I can also go into the previous surveys used to come up with this questionnaire and how we hoped to improve upon them, along with my personal theoretical backgrounds and my training in theories involving symbolic interactionism.
