I think the unnecessary amount of buckles is what makes it steampunk.
I'm not a great fan of steampunk but I do think some of the things in the style look absolutely fantastic, these are brilliant.

It combines nostalgia with the fact that a lot of things from the era, such zeppelins and other forms of airships, are really, really COOL.

D:< AGH, I can't decide which ones are my favorite! I don't care much for Spike's appearance or Fluttershy's expression, but Twilight, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, AND Applejack all look so great!

I will go on record and say I am the only person I know who loves "Steamboy" to hell and back. That was an amazing movie, and every worthy steampunk fan should have an appreciation for it, even if it's just from the pure aesthetical point of view.
Now for the drawings:
0- Twilight can make reading a scroll look cool. I love her hat, and those glasses.
1- I'm no fan of Sweetie Belle, but I like those goggles. I wonder if she'll use them for magic spells.
2- Dash's looks remind me waaaay too much to M. Bison. It's the berette, and that winged symbol. Also, her angry face.
3- Scootaloo is Robin Hood! I bet it's a prefference of the artist, but the feather on the hats remind me a lot of Robin Hood for some reason.
4- Oh Rarity. What better way to show class than by using a monocle.
5- I really like the dress on this one, but the face looks really off putting.
6- Mechanical Phoenix, quite troublesome when exploding in a ball of fire.
7- I take what she has on her wings are rockets, and not cannons. However, her goggles are amazing, I love the amount of detail that went in them.
8- This one is odd, just saying. Is that a mechanical arm? Poor guy must have had it churned in a fire incident.
9- Applebloom's looks actually remind me of Dark Chronicle.
10- It took me twenty seconds to figure out who it was. I guess it's the over-detailed dress. I can't imagine Luna wearing something like that XD
11- Pinkie Pie in a tall hat. That's perfect.
12- Oh no, Derpy as a pilot. I like how the rocketteer jetpack is located on her wings, and has a similar shape.
13- I...really don't know who's that supposed to be >_> I like the gun!
14- And AJ looks like a south lady, good work on this one.
