Earlier a post went up pointing out that The Last Roundup was released on iTunes finally. Sadly, it looks like she was actually modified. Her voice is different, and Rainbow Dash no longer names her.
This was in the SD version, I am not sure if the HD on my laptop is different. I am currently re-downloading it in HD To double check on my computer.
You can find the new Derpy after the break.
UPDATE: Both versions of the episode have been modified.
UPDATE 2: As a reminder, The Friendship Express DVD is untouched, Derpy is still Derpy (At least in the ones we got, which are pretty much the same as far as we know)

WTF?????
ReplyDeleteI can't believe this!!!
So, when's the riot starting?
ReplyDeleteThat's just depressing.
ReplyDeleteFirst people complain about the old voice.
ReplyDeleteNow they complain about THIS voice.
This, people, is why we can't have nice things.
Didn't worry too much in the first place, won't worry now.
ReplyDeleteIt's odd they left out the name and changed the voice, but at least now it could reasonably almost match the "muffins" quote.
In my mind the improvements even out with what has been lost. The original voice was an admitted screw-up, changing it is no loss.
@Adrian Brony
ReplyDeleteIronic seeing this just made more drama eh?
Oh yes Hasbro, it's true,
ReplyDeleteShe'll be Ditzy to you
But she'll always be Derpy to me~
Can't believe they did what their snotty, good for nothing, Low Life fans told them to do.
ReplyDeleteI'm ashamed to call myself a brony now.
This honestly makes me upset.
ReplyDeleteDerpy is something special to the community, and now she's been......ugh.
WAIT!
ReplyDeleteIt's just iTunes, right?
Not Hasbro?
Is there still hope?!
Ok, how in the hell can anyone be blaming HASBRO? How exactly? Blame the people who whined to them. HASBRO was the one that LET Studio B have Derpy be there in the first place.
ReplyDeletePeople blaming Hasbro are more "wtf" worthy than the edit itself.
The unfortunate thing is now the MLP production team will probably not give us any more shout outs. All they have to do is look at Derpy and the massive (bleep) storm that the loud and obnoxious minority caused. I don't know how the people responsible for causing Hasbro to make this decision can sleep at night. Well thanks, obnoxious minority. Thanks for ruining what was a crowning moment in brony history. I don't usually swear, but I've been waiting for this chance...FUCK THE HATERS.
ReplyDeleteStupid.
ReplyDeleteNooo =( The other Derpy voice was so much better...
ReplyDeleteI'm assuming the DVDs will have the old voice and dialogue since the episodes were listed before this one even aired and I can't imagine they would halt production. But we shall find out in a month I guess. It's really too bad enough people were vocal about being upset that it had to get changed. Or maybe it was just an issue with Hasbro not being able to use the name and they decided to update the voice at the same time? *shrug* oh well. Still great that she's the community's "where's waldo"
ReplyDelete"I guess we can go back to calling her Ditzy? :p"
ReplyDeleteI will fucking murder you.
I'm fine with this change. Still with you, though, on that she should have kept her name.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteThis is indeed the first time I have genuinely felt disappointed about something pony related. I'm glad I kept the original HD episode. I will need to back it up on my extra hard drive in case I lose all my data on the main drive.
ReplyDeleteI just don't know what to say. I'm shaking badly from this. But I'm not shaking from cold or fear. I'm shaking from anger, and don't know where to focus it.
Now to seek out a bootleg copy of the original... Did I mention this sucks?
ReplyDeleteDerpy made The Last Roundup worth it for me. Basically, the episode has been violated.
ReplyDeleteThis will not go unpunished.
Hm, I do like the new voice better. As for the name change... it's sad, but... I can see why it might be better if she's not officially named after internet slang?
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I have to wonder though, for the people that were offended, I don't mind terribly, telling them 'f you' over and over just makes you look like a jackass, but where were they for Stimpy, or Cheese, or Ed, or Patrick Star, or Heifer Wolf, or Fred Fredburger, or Billy, or Cinnamon Bun? Where was all the outrage then? Now, all of a sudden, it's applied to a female character, *now* it's bad? Hm?
ReplyDeleteI just want to know the justification, that's all.
Contact Hasbro. Let them know we won't stand for this.
ReplyDeleteTime to let them know that we outnumber the trolls, and we won't stand for letting them destroy something great for all of us.
And if Hasbro won't listen.... I don't know about you guys, but I am seriously done with their product of the voice of the REAL fandom falls on deaf ears.
For everyone who thought South Park's 201 censorship was ridiculous, this knocks it right out of the park.
At least there, Comedy Central had a decision to actually protect their lives from death threats over a religious issue. This is just the overly pc-whining about two delusional people searching and leaping logic hurdles to find things that weren't there. So what is Habro scared of? The opinion of two internet trolls?
That's unacceptable and they NEED to know that is unacceptable to treat us all this way.
I never thought I would live to see the day when a cross-eyed flying pegasus with a silly cartoon voice is considered more offensive and a higher priority than the depiction of a banned Muslim prophet.
And it's a day that after 32 years, that I am vastly sorry to say I've seen.
I like the new voice, but I'm kind of bothered that they undid the eyes.
ReplyDeleteI'm mostly indifferent, however.
Looks like they straightened her eyes, too....
ReplyDeleteThis isn't thhe Derpy I know and love! I demand blood!
ReplyDeleteWell, that's just ass. Hopefully the DVDs are unmolested. I guess I'll find out next week.
ReplyDeleteGuh, and I was ridiculously close to buying an iPod so I could pay for episodes and watch them on the go. Guess I'll stick to streaming them on my phone.
The world is run by a bunch of politically correct, retarded, Jewish nigger faggot cunts.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESuWnNW5H7o
ReplyDeleteThey even fixed her crossed-eyes!!!! It is. THE. WORST. POSSIBLE. THING!
ReplyDeleteI think we need some perspective here:
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, the original cut, in all of its Derpy goodness, is still up on YouTube multiple times over. Even if Hasbro systematically has all of these removed, many people already possess the original cut, whether it be from the official iTunes release or ripped from YouTube.
Second, I know Derpy is the fandom's baby and all that, but really-she's not an important character. Practically speaking, her voice change is going to have almost zero consequences, considering how often we are probably going to have the opportunity to hear it in future. Even IF we start to hear her more frequently (which I don't believe for a second), I honestly think most people could probably get over the voice change.
Bottom line, calm down, people. This isn't that big of a deal.
@Hukacikanaka
ReplyDeleteif by grace of a thousand angels you mean grace of a drunken elephant.
If she sounded like this from the beginning, nobody would mind.
I'm not really on any stance other than the "can we just move on and let what happens happen" stance here. I'm really getting kind of sick of all the whining and just want to move on.
They changed her eyes!!!!! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-
ReplyDeleteHasbro prepare your inbox... the bronies legion is coming...
ReplyDeleteWhile I did think the voice should have been changed to actually wound like a mare, the new voice isn't done very well. Plus it seems out of sync. I agree that not naming Derpy was stupid and underping the eyes just seems excessive. Redo: Take #3 perhaps?
ReplyDeleteI wish they would've committed to a new name if they were changing it there. The line doesn't feel right without a name.
ReplyDeleteHow could this happen!? D:
ReplyDeleteugh.. the Last part seemed to fit well, and that she sounds more like a girl.... but they should have kept her....Derpyness... saying it slower just fit that much better
ReplyDeleteTwo reactions...
ReplyDeleteOne
Two
Well, I still have the original version. Up yours, people that thought Derpy was offensive!
ReplyDeleteAnd then the internet marched to war.
ReplyDeleteI died a little bit inside. Her voice didn't match at all, and even Rainbows lines sounded hastily recorded. Now I'm sad
ReplyDeleteDon't care too much about the voice.
ReplyDeleteDo care about the removal of the derpy eyes and Derpy name; that's just going too far :|
son of a BITCH! I really hope the dvd didn't get altered......probably will but I REALLY REEEEEEEEEEALLY hope the let it slip
ReplyDeleteIt must be fake or joke.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to say but fuck Hasbro for listening to those whiny bitches.
Fuck whiny bitches too.
I'm sorry, I just cant tolerate this.
yeah, that voice is actually an upgrade, but it's by no way a peice worth cutting out her name. whoever complained about this, I HOPE YOU BURN IN HELL!
ReplyDeleteassholes
Yeah, no. Derpy will be Derpy, always and forever. There's no amount of trolling that can change the original, good version that is on my computer.
ReplyDeleteWHY CAN'T I HOLD ALL OF THIS RAGE?!?!
ReplyDeleteedit or not, derpy will always hold a special heart in the brony community. This edit is the epitome of what is wrong with this PC bullshit. Hell, it shouldn't even *be* a PC issue.
Hell yeah!! Now she's tolerable and no longer an abelist joke.
ReplyDeleteAnd, her voice is cute~ That's my Bright Eyes Ditzy Doo~
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI love the new voice, sounds more like what I had in my head before she spoke.
ReplyDeleteThe fucking moralfags who made this happen, you fucking sicken me. Fucking die in a pit you fucking scum.
ReplyDeleteFucking seriously? The original cut was fine just the way it was. The lines are phoned in from both actors and the scene no longer has any flow to it.
ReplyDeleteI'll be perfectly honest, this is a heavy-handed, knee jerk reaction of the worst caliber. I am outraged at this change. I honestly thought Hasbro had more balls than this and I certainly thought that had far more sense.
My suggestion is that we just don't buy this episode from iTunes. Vote with our wallets and show them we don't approve at all. Hell, fucking send torrents around of the original cut if have to.
This will not stand. They will not take Derpy from us, by Celestia's beard they will not take her!
I can understand where they were coming from, but for some odd reason I prefer the first voice. And the name. Really, though, it's a small thing in the grand plan of MLP, so let's not bicker and argue about who killed who.
ReplyDeleteThe new voice is a little bit too far the other direction. Maybe a mix between the two would have been best.
ReplyDeleteAs for no mention of Derpy. I am a sad pony. =(
Where's Pinkie Pie, I need my smile back.
Are we sure that this isn't FAKE? can someone confirm?
ReplyDelete@Brandon D
ReplyDeleteYou also have my episode transcripts, which I have no intention of changing--partly for the sake of being faithful to the original source, but mainly because I'm too frickin' lazy to mess with them.
Well that's disappointing.
ReplyDeleteThis feels rather fake.
ReplyDeleteI must say I am dreadfully unenthusiastic about this development.
ReplyDeleteLook at the bright side; those of us who saw the episode the first time around will be telling the tale around campfires as we tell new bronies about the time Derpy was really Derpy, and for those of us who got the episode before it was edited, we have a rare piece of treasure that no one else can experience. Hell, they've appeased us so far with Derpy being that second random character, they might just try it again. It will be one of those "You had to have seen it to know it" things.
ReplyDeleteI'm hesitant to comment on the voice. The internet hates change, so there will always be a backlash against things like that. I suspect in a couple weeks we'll end up preferring the new voice. Taking out the name, though... I'm personally not happy about it, but I feel like I need to hear both sides of the story before I can pass judgement. There must have been some internal pressure coming from somewhere.
ReplyDeleteThey couldn't even have called her "D" or "Dee"?
ReplyDeleteThe new voice wasn't ALL bad, but to be more specific...
"I just don't know what went wrong" 5/10, cute
"Nice work, Rainbow Dash!" 9/10, solid
"You ok RD, anything I can do to help?" 5/10, the original read sounded much more concerned
"Oops, my bad!" 2/10, very flat
"Yay Applejack, woohoo!" 4/10, too shrill
Would people stop blaming hasbro until you got proof it was them. Sheesh I feel like a broken record but there is no proof that hasbro made the change its very likely ITunes did it or hasbro did it at their request >.< .
ReplyDeleteJumping to conclusions and grabbing the pitchforks without thinking it through first is gonna get this show canceled :(
PLEASE start thinking before grabbing the pitchforks people , if we raise this much hay every time some change happens to the show we don't like hasbro might say "To Hay With it" and cancel the show.
ITS NOT THE FIRST TIME THAT WOULD HAPPEN , think he-man . she-ra , thundercats .......
If the transformer toy sells were not so ridiculous hasbro would have canceled that show ages ago.
...that's now longer Derpy....her eyes are no longer derpified....i don't like it....the original voice was better, at leat i think so anyways....i just hope that they leave the original version in the season 2 DVD when they decide to release it
ReplyDeleteNow reading some comments... this its maybe Itunes act... Itunes im so not buying your shit WE WANT OUR MUFFIN QUEEN!
ReplyDeleteJust what the fuck are you guys thinking taking derpy as a personal offence, get a fucking life you fucking cockmunching assholes. Get your fucking filthy hands of the things that make others happy just because you can't live with your fucking disability. You fucking losers are the fucking dissapoint of humanity. A fucking disgrace and I hate to call myself human thanks to fucking morons like you all.
ReplyDeleteMy apologies for the many curse words, but I had to express my disaproval of this... this... I don't even have words for it.
Eh, I suppose we'll find out who's to blame once the episode airs on TV again.
ReplyDeleteAnd even if it's changed on TV, there's still the possibility that there was trouble with standards for E/I cartoons. (Remember, "egghead" in Fall Weather Friends was pushing it.)
I still sincerely doubt that Hasbro would actually spend the money to get the lines redone and the animation edited, then go through all the costs associated with switching the episode after its release, if they had only received angry mail from a few dozen people. This is much more likely to be something they had to do to get the episode distributed.
They have destroyed Derpy. We'll never see her again now, A Friend in Deed notwithstanding. It's like going back and taking all the cross-dressing scenes out of Bugs Bunny cartoons, or Porky Pig's stutter. It was these traits that made those characters enjoyable and they destroyed Derpy's traits. It's all political correct crap that has to do with this. Derpy didn't hurt anyone, I'm so glad I have the REAL version of the episode already downloaded. This is a bit of a sad day for bronies I think....
ReplyDelete*sigh* Aren't we beyond thinking of special needs like that? It's a real shame TBH.
ReplyDeleteThis is all ponychan's fault.
ReplyDelete@Blayze Kohime
ReplyDeleteNot challenging you, but when did Hasbro tell us it was fine?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfbK_dbsCu0&feature=related
ReplyDeleteI am displeased by this.
ReplyDelete@Flutteryay
ReplyDeleteUm, okay, you just managed to insult a race, a religion, homosexuals, and mentally challenged individuals. Way to be loving and tolerating, "Brony".
people calling for boycotts? really? it was a nice thing they did for the fans that got changed because people complained and they didn't know what to do. they aren't evil here, at most they just didn't know what to do so they took the safe route. For all we know this is an artifact of a preliminary decision they made that has already been changed.
ReplyDeletebut come on, boycotts? this isn't YOUR show, you know. you aren't entitled to anything with this show. and it's kind of pissing me off seeing how entitled some of the people are acting on this matter.
Discord has invaded the human world to cover the truth!
ReplyDeleteNow all we need is to change Snips' voice and we can be free of this forever!
ReplyDelete...no seriously, what the hell, this was uncalled for.
I am SO glad that they changed her voice! Now she sounds like a mare instead of a stalion and one that doesnt have a cold at that.
ReplyDeleteThis is an ultimate dissapointment. we have changed the show. not influenced, CHANGED, they had to CHANGE it for us. thats the breaking point. its not our show, we can influence it all we want but..hey bronies, ITS NOT OUR SHOW, ITS NOT OUR SHOW, ITS NOT OUR SHOW, ITS NOT OUR SHOW, ITS NOT OUR SHOW, ITS NOT OUR SHOW, ITS NOT OUR SHOW, ITS NOT OUR SHOW, ITS NOT OUR SHOW, ITS NOT OUR SHOW, ITS NOT OUR SHOW, ITS NOT OUR SHOW. BUT ITS TOO LATE NOW. THEY HAD TO CHANGE IT FOR US. THIS FANDOM IS A DISSAPOINTMENT AS A WHOLE NOW.
ReplyDeleteF$&# this, I am disappoint (╯ǒ益ǒ)╯︵ ┻━┻
ReplyDelete..at least I have the un-edited version
It sounds like a fandub. A really bad fandub. Especially of Rainbow Dash. (really, they couldn't keep THAT audio??? C'mon, apple!)
ReplyDeleteYou Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!
ReplyDeleteThat's CENSORSHIP!!! They can't do that!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have so much of a problem with this new voice if it wasn't so bland, disinterested, and poorly delivered.
ReplyDeleteSuper disappointed on her name being censored though. ;_;
Not cool...
ReplyDelete@Volmise
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, not Snips, it was Snails. Wow, I messed that up.
I like the sweet new voice for Derpy. However, I dislike the censorship of her name. Alas, the PR department rears it's ugly head. Is it just me or does Dash's voice seem weaker now too? Less emotion.
ReplyDeleteCALM DOWN EVERYPONY.
ReplyDeleteIt's not like they went and CHANGED the name. Nobody is calling her Ditzy Doo or Bright Eyes or anything else. It's just too much of a beehive for Hasbro, don't hate on them for trying to protect themselves from potential difficulties. Just RELAX. Her new voice is an improvement, and really we all know in our hearts she's Derpy, even if we also know they can't currently acknowledge it on television.
The new voice is ok. I don't mind it.
ReplyDeleteBut removing her name? That is PC gone mad. And we can all thank the efforts of a pair of individuals for that.
Thank goodness I still got the old one before they took it down.
Nevertheless, this is a black spot on Hasbro's name that will take a long time to clean...
Seth, "Ditzy" may be more offensive than "Derpy". I'm not really annoyed with the voice change as much (honestly, I didn't like the voice before) as I am with the removal of the name "Derpy" being removed (that part is too much).
ReplyDeletewtf... absolute bs.
ReplyDelete@Metajoker
ReplyDeleteI'm homosexual myself. I was saying all those words to prove a point.
Cobalt the alicorn disapproves
ReplyDeleteEveryone needs to write letters.
ReplyDeleteI can't stress this enough.
If Hasbro doesn't listen, I will never acknowledge another product of theirs for the rest of my life.
Mild disappointment at the name removal.
ReplyDeleteI actually prefer the new voice.
Haters, I am disappoint.
My two bits have been put in. That is all.
Pardon me while I get horribly pissed off at this occurrence. And yes, as much as I am ashamed to admit that I have pirated these episodes (not having the funds available to buy them), I am GLAD that I have the ORIGINAL and UNALTERED version of the episode, not this. . .subpar replacement where they destroy one of the iconic and most loved figures of the show!
ReplyDeleteBetter voice, STILL DERPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHasbro gets no more money from me, for any of their products until this is changed back.
ReplyDeleteIf it's not, then too bad. Fuck you Hasbro, fuck you royally in your various holes.
My one and only solace is that Ashleigh Ball is very clearly half-assing her lines. At least that seems to make one confirmed member of the MLP team who thinks this whole thing is bullshit.
ReplyDeleteI have a sad. :(
ReplyDeleteThat's CENSORSHIP!!!! They can't do that!!
ReplyDeleteThank you to all the assholes that said what people will find and will not find offensive. THANKS SO MUCH.
ReplyDeleteHappy, guys? Not the majority of y'all.
ReplyDeleteBut this ain't right. The least right part of it, was the fact that a minority complained. Then, petitions were done gathering 20,000+ signatures.
And what'd it do?
The minority still won.
So thanks for ruining it, jackasses who complained about DHX's gift to us, the unexpected fanbase.
-James
Sigh... I liked the old style. Well at least I will have a copy on my hard drive forever. It just seems so forced in this version.
ReplyDeleteNot to sound like an extreme minority, but can't we be thankful for that one version we had instead of raging about it being gone now?
ReplyDeleteI mean, it was a huge shock that Derpy was called by name in the first place, but she was, just because they change that now doesn't mean it never happened.
I'm as upset as the majority, but I'll still remember that one time.
I love how Zecora being an obvious racial reference is just fine and dandy but a ditzy pony is seen as incredibly offensive because she's "retarded."
ReplyDeleteWhat makes her different from other cartoon characters portrayed the same way? Why is there a problem with HER in particular?
There has been characters like this before in children's shows. Patrick Star, Goofy. What makes this such a big friggin' deal?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5mLjKI968g
ReplyDeletePlease bronies. Don't overreact. This is what makes us bad people at times. We don't want to disappoint Hasbro at all. Please don't overreact like we did a few weeks ago... Keep is nice.
ReplyDeleteI just don't know what went wrong.
ReplyDeleteIt's discord! Hem came to the human world to cover the truth!...though I do like the voice better...but it sounds close to Rainbowdash's voice
ReplyDeleteBoycotting, angry letters/emails, and hateful discussions about Hasbro is only going to make this worse for you guys.
ReplyDeleteMaybe this will teach you not to bitch and complain about EVERYTHING that YOU think should be right?
are there going to be Mare-A-Thons tonite?
ReplyDeletebronies gotta ruin everything
ReplyDeleteI'm too pissed off to even think straight right now.
ReplyDeleteI am very disappointed in Hasbro. I was going to immediately buy more episodes (I have bought 12 so far), but now I'm not so sure anymore.
Thanks to a few tricks I learned from watching Let Play's, I'm backing up the original scene for posterity at this moment.
ReplyDeleteFuck. THAT.
ReplyDeleteI am supremely disappointed in those responsible for this.
I may be one of the few here, but I always preferred Ditzy. I like the new voice.
ReplyDeleteI do hate the terrible dub job they did, though. And the fact they George Lucased it.
Don't blame the Hub, Habsro(did that on purpose >.>), or Studio B for this. This is the fault of the worthless piece of trash that would have sued all 3 companies because they had a drawing that was not PC and was offensive to the disabled child they have that really couldn't give two shits about it. It's the fucked up "legal" system and our non-freedom of speech that caused this. Not the awesome people behind the show.
Must... kill... all humans... *twitch*
ReplyDeleteGuys lets just wait and see what happens now we must be patient till we get more info about this dont rage dont spam hasbro dont do stupid stuff just wait for more info
ReplyDelete@Adrian Brony
ReplyDeleteThank you for showing some sense in this ordeal.
I just have to say two things.
ReplyDelete#1: I like the new voice. It still fits, it still works. I was kinda hoping they would give her something a bit closer to what the fans came up with, and to me this does just that.
#2: I don't like the actual line changes. They named her Derpy, it needs to stay that way. I'm glad they didn't decide to name her something else instead, but it's still messed up that they'd do that. Thankfully I still have a copy backed up of the original, and the DVD that'll be coming next week still has the original so I'll have that too.
I will say I do understand why they would want to do something like this. An issue arose from it and they have to make sure they do what is best for their target audience, and offensive or not they have to air on the side of caution. Do I like it? Nope. But given the circumstances this change isn't all that bad. She still spoke. She still displayed a personality. And she's still the Derpy we know and love. He voice fits her better now and all they did was not use her name this time. It's better than removing the scene entirely. And I bet you down the road the DVDs that are coming out will be quite special. I wouldn't be surprised if they were to use the edit in later runs, but this first run should already be all printed and packaged and ready to go with the original version. ;D
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI don't wanna live on this planet anymore. I loved Derpy the way she was. Whoever caused this I want you to know I will track you down. I want Derpy back. I'm crying. Right now. ;_;
ReplyDeleteHasbro has made it clear that they don't want our money... so I'm going to make sure they never get a cent of mine ever again.
ReplyDeleteIs this the second time they changed it?
ReplyDeleteDiscord has invaded the human world to cover the truth!

I cant Belive it. WHY WOULD THEY CHANGE DERPY'S VOICE. IT WAS PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
Sounds like crap and definitely does not sound like the Derpy I know and love.
ReplyDeleteSO MUCH RAGE!!!! Y U NO SAY DERPY, RAINBOW DASH!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh no. Her eyes. They're underped D:
ReplyDeleteI checked with and original version, and the eyes are definitely different...
Not cool Hasbro, not cool! Now who has a copy of the original last Roundup I can DL?
ReplyDeleteI never liked the original voice I've always liked the medical condition as the reason her eyes are like that but to hear the mental retardation voice was just offensive. However I don't like taking derpy out they could've said careful ditzy but no just outright removal.
ReplyDeleteSomeone will be receving a strongly worded email about this.
ReplyDelete@Flutteryay
ReplyDeleteAh, alright. Sorry about the misunderstanding. There's been a lot of haters around lately and I've gotten a bit paranoid. *Brohoof*
Also, might as well mention, shame that this happened, but meh. I mean, the episodes are still gonna be awesome and we've got a lot to look forward to. If it's such a big deal, we might as well just spread around the original. Not exactly that hard to do. It'd only be really terrible if they somehow got rid of it entirely. It only effects those who download the episodes off itunes who don't realize what happened. It's not gone, just not as easily accessible. Let's take a chill pill and realize it's JUST. A. SHOW.
Actually she still has her same eyes in some frsme if you look carefully
ReplyDeleteOn Comcast on demand the original version is still up and has been this whole time until march 1st at least. It is ending prematurely compared to the other ones still on there it seems, tho. Oh well, we will always have youtube and hopefully the dvd.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, let's just see what did happen.
ReplyDeleteDHX Media took quite a big risk by gifting us the name Derpy in the first place. Even though we realize now that it didn't pass legal approval, the fact they even WENT so far to GIVE us such a nod is the gift itself. Just because Hasbro had to cover their bases and edit the episode accordingly, that does NOT take away the fact DHX Media even did this for us, and proved how much they care about us.
The fact Derpy even had her name at one point is all I need to feel appreciated by the people who create this show. And ya know, just speaking completely honest here, the fact DHX went so far on a limb to express said appreciation, so far that they had to subsequently fix it, really (truly!) makes me proud to be a part of a fandom so beloved by the creators.
Yeah, people are having very normal knee-jerk reactions to this, throwing blame around and kicking Apple in the head, whatever. We all know what her name is, and after this edit, it's kinda like all our little secret between us. We know. We don't even need the edit stricken from existence to continue knowing. We just know. We know DHX did this for us, we know they're on the same page as us, and we know their true original vision despite the intervention of Hasbro's legal department.
We know.
And we appreciate it.
Well, this just sucks.
ReplyDeleteThis hurts, but we gotta remember to love and tolerate. Send calmly worded emails to Hasbro to voice your disapproval. We will never forget the REAL Derpy!!!
ReplyDeleteThe original broadcast version naming Derpy will live forever. You can't stop the signal.
ReplyDeleteThis is not a "unfair" folks, an eight year old with terminal cancer is unfair. at worse this is annoying. However, keep in mind I-tunes has extremely stringent standards for distribution, and they bend to the slightest complaint from any kook. (Mythbusters had an "Offensive T-shirt" blurred out, and justice league dropped an episode breifly because it "promoted violence against women") I've seen storyboard animators from Hasbro Studios wearing a Custom Derpy hoodie in animation magazine, she's well loved there. Don't go busting Hasbro's chops until we know all the facts. This entire thing started by people going off half-cocked, let's not show hostility to the people who provide us with a show a great as this one.
ReplyDeleteI understand why they did what they did. I don't agree with it... but I understand.
ReplyDeleteI would have been ok if the voice got changed... little peeved but acceptable.
Them removing the name reference... not so much.
I fully intend to keep an eye.. and ear out on the re-runs to see if they change those.. of it is just the iTool er iTunes copy...
Well, it's not that harsh. Derpy Hooves still has her trademark crossed eyes, and it's not like her scene was cut outright.
ReplyDeleteI don't see how this is the end of the world, or anything near it. But then again, I don't think the episode as a whole was very good.
Voice: yes.
ReplyDeleteLack of Naming: FUUUUUUUCK YOOOOOOOOUUUUUU!!!!!!!!! >:(
Just because we have some "Moral Crusaders" with rods jammed far up their tight asses, we've be stripped of the greatest honor a fan community has ever been given: Canonization of a Fan Charater's Name. I hope you're happy. -_-
ReplyDelete(I am not angry so much at the voice. Had that come first, I would have accepted it, but the blatant CENSORSHIP of the scene has spoiled it for me. At least I have the original saved.)
@Adrian Brony Yeah, but this is APPLE that did this. not Hasbro, as far as we know. Hasbro said it was safe, and to be honest, the audio sounded like it had been poorly spliced together at the last minute. Something Hasbro and the FIM team wouldn't do. Especially because that's definately NOT Ashleigh Ball as Rainbow Dash, or Tabitha St. Germain as Derpy. No, it's not OUR show, but it's not Apple's either! They shouldn't have ANY more say in what is on there than a DVD store should have a say in what people say in the movies they sell. I for one think a boycott of Apple is LOOOOONG overdue, and will support it.

ReplyDeleteI'm peeved about this.
ReplyDeleteNow, if they go back and change her eyes in past episodes, I expect a lot of fandom rage-quitting.
I wonder if executives subconsciously can't stand the fact that (much) older (male) viewers actually enjoy this thing of theirs and are doing everything they can to reverse course and piss us off.
Well, unless someone somehow convinces them that this was a really bad idea, the best we can do is keep the original going around.

ReplyDeletewell... at least she's a girl again
And this is why I copied and sequestered my previous copy of the episode.
ReplyDeleteif i knew this is how it was gonna turn out, i would have rather had derpy not even have any lines at all.
ReplyDeletethis is just pathetic.
Love and tolerate!
ReplyDeleteSmile, smile, smile!
Stay calm, everypony!
DON'T FUCKING FREAK OUT!
@Lupus Albus
ReplyDeleteThey do not have the E/I rating anymore exactly for the reason that it was to restrictive for what they wanted to do. It has nothing to do with that certification.
This... this is the beginning of the end.

ReplyDeleteare there going to be Mare-A-Thons tonight?
ReplyDeleteThat's not Derpy. That's just a mass of pixels on my screen that I refuse to consider Derpy. Looking at that 50 bucks I have on iTunes trying to figure out what to do with it... bah... whatever. Apple, I never liked you, and now you've certainly made it clear I will never like you. Derpy has crossed eyes, Derpy has an adorable voice, and for the love of all that is Celestia. DERPY'S NAME. IS DERPY. You can edit your products all you want, but she will always be Derpy Hooves to me.
ReplyDeleteSo they're saying that it's not ok to be different? Derpy was fine, albeit the voice was a little off, but she was fine the way she was.
ReplyDeleteWell. Im expecting to hear something from Studio B about this.
ReplyDelete@Hawkx1 Her VA thought "she" was a boy. That's why her original voice was like that.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to the comment system? Did Derpy break it?
ReplyDeletehttp://youtu.be/wNInjFMC7GQ
ReplyDeleteI rewatched the scene a couple more times, and its just getting more and more painful to watch, with the way these edits were done, you might as well delete the whole scene. It's really THAT bad.
ReplyDeleteWow her new voice sucks major balls
ReplyDeleteOk listing and watching the orig ep.
ReplyDelete1. they did nothing to the eyes people. ya paranoid dolts.
2. She sounds stupid now. Just listing to this one. chills down my spine man doesnt feel right.
This PROVES that the majority and petitions mean nothing. I give up...
ReplyDeleteI'm not gonna say I hate Hasbro, but... son, i am dissapoint... this is just sad. this was such a special moment for the brony community and it's almost like they just shat on it...
ReplyDeleteHabro, you made a poor choice and I hope you realize that what your doing is admitting that the word derpy is offensive. which it never was. I hope you right this mistake.
My jimmies remain unrustled and I couldn't care less.
ReplyDeleteIf they think Bronies will take kindly to the revoicing and renaming of Derpy Hooves, they're forgetting the reaction to "New Coke." She'll always be Derpy Hooves to me.
ReplyDelete@That Which Speaks "Derpy Hooves still has her trademark crossed eyes"
ReplyDeleteNo, she doesn't. Watch it again.
Leave it for some stupid nobody to cry "retard" and get Derpy changed for the worse.
ReplyDelete....I have lost faith in Hasbro...i know that's a terrible thing to say but...I'm not furious about the voice, I'm furious at the fact that they butchered the episode just to change the voice.
ReplyDeleteMan, its been a bad birthday for me...Derpy died. and no new episode tomorrow. Feels bad man. But..i must smile smile smlie!
ReplyDeleteOh who cares if they removed her name. I LOVE HER NEW VOICE. Now that's a Derpy. :D
ReplyDelete@AJ2412
ReplyDeleteWell if you payed any attention to the other cartoons with a derpy female you might notice a similarity with the voices.
Really guys? First we spaz out because she sounded too "masculine", and too "stupid", Now she's too "generic" This is what they had to work with. We should be grateful they went to the effort of acknowledging her as a character, and through her, us as a community. If we keep complaining so much, they may just up and delete her entirely! Remember the letter to Celestia in Suited For Success. Don't remember? Re-watch the episode. I knew this was going to happen. you should never look a gift horse in the mouth. I hope to God they don't actually make a spin-off, or give any more characters lines, because this "Loving and Tolerant" community will just tear into every little detail and then rub salt in the wounds. It's a cartoon for crying out loud. Watch it, enjoy it, and appreciate the hard work that goes into it. Ugh... Okay. Rant over. I need a drink...
ReplyDelete@Adrian Brony
ReplyDeleteRealize, of course, that this is the stance of someone with no will and no want. Of one who does nothing but let people and things take advantage of them. Please, for everything that is friendship, do not keep that mindset.
It sort of sucks that they don't reference her by name, but I do like the new voice, and the small dialogue change does seem to flow a bit better.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe this fandom. Love and tolerance, huh.
ReplyDeleteYou can't get through this world without offending somebody. These people in the marketing, as well as the people with sensitive bottoms need to get over themselves. If any of you who said she was no good before, guess again. Taking the safe route is normally the best route for companies like this, covering their backsides whenever possible.
It's a classic example of the bonebrains getting butthurt over something that is SUPPOSED TO BE INNOCENT when seeing lines in the dirt that doesn't exist. It comes down to a quote that I heard before:
90% of things are exactly as they appear. Wisdom is giving allowance to the last 10%. Foolishness comes from taking that last 10% and making it seem like it's the 90%.
I like her old voice, the new voice is just... wow. But it doesn't carry the same weight. Mostly because it isn't the same as it was before; it isn't the original voice that we as the fanbase heard. Because of this, she's probably not going to be heard from again, and that my friends, her silence is the sound of disappointment.
DID YOU GUYS HONESTLY THINK THAT HASBRO WOULD MAKE OUR CHARACTER TO BE A RETARD? SERIOUSLY?
RAGE AT 100%.
ReplyDeleteRAGE CANNON IS READY TO FIRE.
Question is, was this iTunes or Hasbro, and can I make my rage heard?
Definition of 'Derp':
ReplyDeleteInternet slang often used as a placeholder expression for silly or foolish dialogue, or used to caption an image of someone with a foolish expression.
Definition of 'Ditsy': Adjective to describe someone meaning silly, scatterbrained, featherbrained, or stupid. Eg: "She is such a ditsy blonde!"
Sorry, but which one of these was offensive in some way again? Because if you really NEED to be offended by something, the second one looks more likely to me.
Hmm. I take a break from a small job I'm doing and this is what I find?!!!
ReplyDeleteWell, all I can say is simply whatever. I'm not the one making the decisions, so not much I can do on my end. Though you can bet I'll be shooting off a few emails as soon as I'm done here.
I'm sure plenty of you will be shooting off some emails of your own. In which case, I BEG YOU, PLEASE BE CIVIL ABOUT IT. It's not gonna do us any good if we rage about it in Hasbro's face about it. It's disappointing, but STAY CIVIL. PLEASE!!!
This is just pure, unabashed censorship. It's just awful, just awful.
ReplyDeleteWell, this new voice makes her sound more like a "ditz", and less like a "derp".
ReplyDeleteToo bad I already warmed up to the original voice. And good thing I have the original!
Well, this is disappointing, and I see this causing a massive shitstorm, but the big reason I loved the original Derpy scene was that we were acknowledged, and this is in no way un-acknowledging. The original scene will still always have happened, and that's good enough for me.
ReplyDeleteI can see a lot of people getting angry over the principal of having it censored though, and I have to agree that while the new voice isn't half bad, it sounds kinda generic and the removal of name and slight un-derping of eyes sucks big time.
I honestly just hope this gets cleared up one way or another soon so that the shitstorm can blow over.
I actually like the new voice. 5 Bits says that the name removal was a mandate from hasbro's legal department
ReplyDeleteoh my god guys, seriously, it's just a show. you are really getting way too worked up over this. no really, you are. if they were removing derpy from everythign they would have never let the merch back into welovefine. cool your tits guys. I am sick of people making some huge movement over relatively meaningless stuff like this yet being indifferent to ACTUAL atrocities. they omitted her name and changed her voice in post. Big Whoop, can we just move on now or am I gonna have to sit through another 2 more months of overly sad pictures of derpy crying and people getting mad at hasbro for doing what they thought was the best course of action.
ReplyDeleteThey don't need us and they will choose to just ignore us if we start becoming unpleasable and entitled.
I will refrain from saying anything cause what I have to say would get me banned from the most offensive metal concerts of mankind. I am disappointed Hasbro, and I hope you all are happy with yourselves. Cause you're all fucking cowards.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time regarding anything in this fandom where I've actually gotten pissed about something. I won't overreact, but why did they feel they had to change it? How could they let the "minority" win? Not much angry about the voice as I am erasing the name "Derpy" from the episode.
ReplyDeleteSo, thank you to the couple of jackasses who ruined the fun. What did you really hope to accomplish by this?
Ok at first it sounded alright(the new voice) now i hinestly cant stand it, she is totaly a dumb blonde now. CLONES THEY KIDNAPED THE REAL DERPY
ReplyDeleteThank you Hasbro for teaching us that clumsy individuals with a lazy eye are offensive and should be altered. Indeed they are totally unacceptable, not worthy of being adored, and their conditions must be removed from society.
ReplyDeleteIn the words of Spike: NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds terrible! Her original voice was perfect! I know we are to be all 'Love and Tolerance', but sometimes we must fight for what we love. We should have done something about this. See what happens when we don't?
THESE ARE LIES!!!! I just downloaded the itunes today and nothing was changed. THESE ARE LIES!!!!!!
ReplyDelete@NightStarX
ReplyDeleteYes she does, watch it again.
They just aren't as obvious now.
I don't think boycotting Hasbro is going to help much. Sending letters should be fine. Boycotting Hasbro may end up causing the show to be cancelled. We should probably just wait and see.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind that they changed her voice (IMO, they are both cute), but it saddens me that they edited out her name, and now that sentence sounds awkward to me. D: Plus her eyes are less derped.
