Well that was quick. Just a day after being rumored, two full images have popped up of the upcoming Princess Cadence playset. It looks like Shining Armor is going to be the first brush-able male pony. I wonder where these two will actually fit in to he show canon? I suppose we will have to wait for the season finale to find out!

I'm a bit bothered by the fact that Princess Cadence is (at least according to vector images) an alicorn. It makes me think that she must be the princess to another land on the ponies' planet, making Equestria one out of more pony-dominated countries.
I will reiterate what I said yesterday.
I hope that Princess Cadence will exist only in a flashback sequence from thousands of years ago that depicts her wedding to Shining Armor and then goes on to explain that she is Celestia and Luna's mother.
Another alternative is that she is simply a fictional storybook character that never really existed.
Well at least we know they will have brushable male ponies. Knowing me I am sure I will buy this.
Please don't talk about the finale. The thought of another summer without my fix of pony saddens me.
I might be one of the few who feel like this, but I am really looking forward to their reveal in the show.

From that video that was posted last week that included a shot of the big cut-outs of Shining Armor and Cadence, Shining Armor's cutie mark has a magenta 6-pointed star like Twilight's on a shield, with 3 smaller stars above it.
I still wonder if that's a coincidence, or if he's somehow connected to the element of magic.

Yeah, looks like Shining Armor is the first male pony toy. So they have a male pony mold now for toys, if they so wish to make more and simply recolor them. Cadence appears to be the usual pony mold, with a different princess wing design added on.

hmmm the box says "Wedding Castle" implying that Shining Armor, a Unicorn, is marrying Princess Cadence, an Alicorn. Which brings up the mystery of Princess Luna and Celestia's origins, did they come from a Unicorn/Alicorn union such as this, or perhaps, according from what we've learned of pony genetics, a rare regressive gene that manifests itself very seldom. And if Princess Cadence is an Alicorn does that mean she'll outlive Shining Armor?... head... exploding... o.0

Right now, I think I am satisfied with my Pony collection of Action Figures Rarity, Fluttershy, and Rainbow Dash - and Mini-Figures of Toys R Us Wave 1 exclusive set.
So far I am still waiting for Wave 3 or Wave 2 to come over to the US, so I could get the Glitter or Glowing Rarity Mini-Fig.
But hey! Hasbro, If your seeing this comment, I wouldn't mind buying KRE-O themed My Little Pony sets! I love building LEGO/KRE-O creations! I could really use some girly colored pieces for my Tropical or Icy themed MOCs!

I got not problem with another princess as long as she's no more important to the show than Blueblood. That she's an alicorn is kinda odd but, eh, I trust the writers. They've added toy-line stuff to the show before without it being horrible.
Besides which, there's been a ton of toys that haven't been on the show. Candence and Whatshisflank might never even show up.

Here's an other point of interest. While the Celestia toy is larger in proportion to the other toys, Cadence is not, she looks about as tall as her fiancé. Could it be that we do have a royal bloodline made up of descendants of Celestia/Luna that produces "false" alicorns occasionally? By false I mean what's essentially a winged unicorn, without any other attributes generally associated with alicorns (longevity, ability to alone influence major celestial bodies etc)

True. Though Studio B doesn't need to follow suit with EVERYTHING the toy department cooks. Case in point: the Pinkie Pie RC Car and AJ's Pickup Truck.
That said, Shining Armour is already confirmed for appearing in the show at some point, so I'd say that means Princess Cadence will appear, too.
How they are implemented into the story, however, is completely unknown. I've seen some theorise in these comments that they'll be introduced as fairytale characters or part of a history episode similar to Hearth's Warming Eve. Those ideas sound more plausible to me, since it would sidestep the potential RETCON of the storybook intro from S1 E1.
It would be quite the twist if Cadence is actually Celestia and Luna's mother from millenia long past.
They really seem to be pushing these two. Even the VA of Braeburn did some lines for Shining Armour.
Still, I'm not complaining. It'll be an interesting addition and there's certainly no reason why there CAN'T be another alicorn (although, if they do put Cadence in, I hope they do a redesign).
I just wanna say that I hope this Princess Cadence pony stays away from the show. Other than that, I don't really care at all.

That has crossed my mind, and if it turns out that Cadence isn't from deep in the past but actually lives in the present, then her being a "false Alicorn" (kinda offesive, no? We should think of a better name) would be a tangible option to take to save the writers from dedicating precious airtime patching up potential plot holes and lowering a few raised eyebrows.

Cadence is also used to describe the rhythm of hoofbeats in distinguishing the different gates of a horse (or pony) such as walk, trot, canter, gallop and so forth.
I don't think Cadence will turn out to be fictional--the reason being, that previously released image showed the main six ponies in fancy dresses, with a big invitation saying "YOU ARE INVITED TO A PONY WEDDING" or something like that.
I suspect the main characters will be invited to a wedding outside of Equestria.

The wedding episode is coming. It won't be a flashback or a dream or a fairy tale, it IS purely a mandate from Hasbro to cash-in on that lame-ass wedding you British suckers had to pay for w/ your tax dollars, it will include a 3rd hastily designed alicorn that's gonna require some kind of retcon in order to make any damn sense, and if it doesn't suck it'll be because Studio B are god-kings with powers beyond those of mortal men. These are the facts.

While the Mane 6 were in formal dress on the wedding invitation, that does not necessarily mean that it will be on the show. Those were likely just vectors made by the marketing division. After all, in the Castle Creator/Card Creator game, we had the Mane 6 (and Derpy)as vectors wearing winter themed clothes that were never on the show.
My theory:
Says that Princess Cadence is Equestria's Death Goddess. So she only shows up when it's time to take some pony away to the afterlife. :)

The trouble with Pipsqueak's voice was that it was inconsistent. He was British in his first scene, American in his second, and a weird mixture of both at the end.
I'm going to go with the 'some other land' theory. It's easy, it works, and there's no retcon needed.
"Hearth's Warming" seems to indicate that Celestia and Luna didn't exist prior to the founding of Equestria by ponies - perhaps "the land and king are one" applies here and the land provides the regency?
Who knows - but boy howdy do we over analyze a kids cartoon around here or what!

I for one am very weary of this. It stinks of Hasbro saying. "Hey Studio B/DHX Media... We want another princess toy. For reasons we can't understand, people are reacting poorly to our Pink Princess Celestia toy. The fat one with no molded hair and crappy detail isn't faring any better... Lets make another Pink Princess. Now put it in the show... Just do it, she can be the princess of gaiting through gates. We don't care what you do with her, just put her in, and she should marry a prince."
Yeah... I trust the production team to deal with it to the best of their ability. I hope the show isn't cheapened by this. I would be COMPLETELY ok with it if winged unicorns are established as having celestial alicorn/mortal winged unicorn power tiers.
I truly thing that introducing another "powerful" princess would be a disgrace to Celestia and Luna. God. How retarded is Hasbro. They have a POPULAR princess that they IGNORE, and they a WHITE princess that is loved, that they BUTCHER in the toy market, and their decision is to release a SECOND PINK princess!
Watch them continue to ignore Luna, and still make Celestia pink, even after they water down their royalty with some wannabe princess. It makes me wanna just slap some common sense into their marketing department.
I would love for this to be a fairy tale or a historical event... But all indications suggest it's present establishment...
I for one am praying and hoping it turns out to be a case of foreign nation or territory. Let Trottingham be a town outside of the official borders of Equestria or something. Maybe much of the world they live in is desert and wasteland, and stony mountain peaks, like the outskirts in the west such as Appleoosa, or maybe dragon lands (where dragons eat gems and other minerals, and can survive such a barren place easily).
I'd be OK with the idea of multiple alicorn princesses under one premise. What if that powerful alicorn magic is something that sort of acts as a well of power that energizes the surrounding lands around them. That "well of power" grants Earth ponies the magic touch to heal and till the barren land and make it fertile, the magic that lets pegasi command the clouds and weather, and the magic that unicorns wield with such fine precision and focus.
Celestia and Luna are the top ponies, ruling the Celestial clockwork, but with Luna gone 1000 years prior, and Celestia having to handle day and night alone, Central Equestria's size recedes, isolating border territories where other alicorn(s) may reside. Travel becomes dangerous and difficult between these regions, so they become isolated.
With Luna back, Equestria has magic to spare, and to grow once again. A border region (Maybe where Trottingham is located) is remerged with Equestria, and a royal wedding is scheduled between Equestrian unicorn nobility and the Princess Cadence, to "seal the deal" politically, so to speak.
I'd actually think that would be totally OK. I'm having a VERY hard time thinking of other ways I'd be OK with it. It'd allow for both world expansion, and make room for the addition of other "foreign" princesses, to satisfy Hasbro's desire to drop a new princess on us, apparently each year. Canon wise, it would not infringe on Celestia and Luna's power or importance, and it could potentially establish lesser powered "winged unicorns" as royal family, and maybe explain a source of magic in the world that would be fair.
Could also explain why Celestia so easily was A: not effected by Twilight's "Want It, Need It" spell, and B: was able to just simply dispel it. What if all magic in equestria were powered by her and Luna?
I'll just have to put my faith in Studio B/Media DHX, and trust in their genius!

I just hope the fandom doesn't go totally crazy even if they have godly powers (any new Alicorn). I mean, I think the mystical powers of the characters in the show gets in the head of some people and they literally take it as a sacred thing.
But let's look at all the ponies in Equestria and they're all mystical creatures in the things they are capable of whether in scientific or magical ways.
Also, instead of saying "those creators are going to mess up MLP!", let's say "We trust the creators to do MLP right, as they always have!"
I think certain parts of this fandom is just EAGER to trash on this show whenever it attempts anything. Instead, we should show more gratitude that the writers and creators of the show are willing to try anything for our entertainment!

One note to appease all of the people up in arms about Cadence intruding on Celestia and Luna's power structure...
It's quite possible that Luna was given her starfield mane this season in order to distinguish her power as being above Cadence, who seems to have normal hair in the images we've seen of her. So there's at least one visual cue that she's not up to the power levels of the sisters.

Well... Given where the changelings were flung out to, There may be something to the theory that outside Equestria's borders lie an expanse of wasteland that's not tended by pony magic.
As for Cadance and Shining Armor... The crew handled them beautifully, though it certainly does leave real questions yet as to how she fits into the big picture. Glad to see the Season 2 finale reach such epic tiers!!!
