First Annual Herd Census

Have you ever wondered how many of your fellow bronies live in your area, or are your age? Are you the only one who's been watching since G1? Does anypony have a PhD? Well, wonder no more, because the First Annual Herd Census is under way!
Answer 10 simple questions about your bronydom and yourself (all responses entirely anonymous, of course), and help paint an accurate picture of the herd as it is today. We'll tally up the results submitted by January 15th, and then release the State of the Herd Report, revealing such juicy data as age and geographic distribution, favorite pony, and more! And the information gathered this year will help track changes in the herd from year to year as well. Enough data to make even Twilight Sparkle happy!

Over 40 bronies from the Singapore Bronies Society hustled over to a friend's place on Dec 30th 2011 for some end-of-year barbeque fun. It was a simple gathering, mostly to catch up with each other, discuss ponies and share artwork. Even a few members who couldn't make it to the party joined in via Skype. Great grilled grub was had courtesy of a few talented chefs among us, and at night some of us chose to chill out with a fun-filled Marvel vs Capcom 3 session, while a few others decided to take a dip in the pool. Everypony left late at night reluctant for it to end, but fully satisfied at another successful meetup here in Singapore. Pictures can be found here and here!
We at the SBS want to wish everypony out there a fantastic 2012 up ahead! Here's to more glorious ponies, and freedom forever to the Internet!

Not so happy with the survey, every single US state is an option, but Europe only counts as one option? Ah well...
You know what would be interesting? A map where every one could just click where he lives. That would make it easier to organize meetups. I would also like to know where there are more people from switzerland for example...
That census seems to be suggesting that Europe and the Middle East are countries...derp.
Is the list of favorite characters in random order? If so, why, instead of alphabetical order?
Additionally, the criteria for inclusion seems totally arbitrary. Why Cheerilee but no Granny Smith? Why Trixie but no Gilda? Why Derpy at all, when the only things going for her are visual gags and fanon? I think the favorite character options would be best if it was restricted to the mane 6 and no others.

I can't believe the Helsinki Brony Meetup still hasn't been featured. There was about 90 people there.
Every single US and Canadian province is mentioned, but all of Europe and the entire Middle East are both one option? Nice to see you taking into account the huge differences between countries in those region. I'm sure the Iranians love how they've been put in the same category as the Israeli, to name an extreme example.

So lonely here in Spokane Washington... I am beginning to think I am the only Brony on this side of WA. =( I wish I could have gone to a meetup.
This census will fail. A free SurveyMonkey survey can only have 10 questions and you can only read the results of the first 100 completed surveys. The fact that there ARE 10 questions in this one and that the questions have at times been poorly decided in terms of options suggests strongly that this IS a free survey. Expect to never hear of it again, or hear of it very soon as having been moved to a new survey hosting site.
Now I think about it, I've seen an awful lot of bronies who don't realise just how global ponies are. Even with The French and Powerful Trixie videos submitted here.
It's not just a pony thing either, I once spoke to a university professor who honestly thought YTP/YTPMVs were a purely American phenomenon.
That might not be the case here, but listing American states and not European countries (for example) is more than a little lopsided.

Really should be asleep. I managed to wake up and see this roundup ONLY because I has the worst shit (or rather series of shits) keeping me wake. I have crap insomnia! My ass hurts from toilet paper! Don't get me started on the fatigue I'm feeling. It was incredibly hard to get this written. But now I just realized how I just ranted about my diarrhea and absolutely nothing about the roundup!
So yeah, this roundup is late and yay equestria prevails stuff. Holy cow I don't think Seth is human. (Robot maybe?)
Thats a shame. Europe is up there in the survey but i would have liked to see england as knowing the number of bronies in europe is gonna be quite different to the number in england.

I really love how he detailed all the states of the U.S., all the provinces of Canada, included Mexico and Australia... and then just put continents for whatever reason.

Yeah, it's unfair for people in other regions of the world. The survey's creator could've just put certain regions of those countries, like Eastern, Central and Western to take their size into account. For example, Prince Edward Island, a Canadian province, only has a population of 141'000, yet it's an option just like Australia.

Seth, there is no such thing as a "First Annual" anything. It there is no survey next year, then it's not annual. The word you're looking for is "Inaugural."
I was rather disappointed that the Herd Census only broke down to states. It would have been much cooler to get a list of density by city.

Ohio meetup was so fun, how we got so many people into that one house without the thing turning into a sauna was quite impressive.
