Someone named EVN tipped me off in email about some upcoming McDonalds, so I called the them up to confirm it.
Apparently another wave of ponies is planned for March 9th (though she told me not to quote her on that exact date), along with Transformers on the boys side. They don't know specifically what characters/designs will be available, but she did say they usually try to release new sets, so hopefully something awesome pops up.
I was also told that this is going to be a huge promotion, and they expect to sell out of them pretty quickly. I guess our rabid collecting last time around tipped them off? We didn't have much access to blind bags back then, so these and the five piece molded set were the only show accurate stuff we could get our hands on (Even if McDonalds toys aren't really known for their quality). It sure was funny trying to sneak into McDonalds incognito style only to be called out as the third guy to come looking for ponies for his "Niece" or "Sister". I'm sure it will be twice as funny this time around.

You can usually ask at the counter for just the toy for about a quid (couple dollars maybe in America)

Yup. McDonalds better keep a good stock of these. Luckily, there's two McDonalds locations near where I live (Astoria, NY) so if it's not at one, there's the other.

See, this is where the fact that there are twenty kajillion McDonald restaurants is a good thing. I can simply travel to one that, while several miles out of my way, will be one that I don't visit frequently. That way, no fear of future embarrassment!
And that's a lot less work than kidnapping several young girls off the street and make them come into the restaurant with me. Last time I did that, those girls beat me up and not only stole the cool toys, but also my wallet. Let me tell you something, they can kick shins HARD!!!

You guys do know you don't actually have to order a meal to get the toys, right? You can just ask over the counter for all the My Little Pony toys and they'll charge you a few pounds/dollars/whatever for them. You don't need to buy any food... Though I prefer to. :3

those things used to come with a nice sized soda, a good amount of fries, and a nice juicy hamburger. now, it's mandatory apple slices, less fries, whatever the hell burger and last i heard no soda, milk only or some shit.
i stopped eating at McDonalds outside of Double/Single QUarter Pounders and McGriddles.
The picture from last year is just an illustration for the post... I don't think they'll be the same figures as last year.

You should be able to just purchase the toy separately. I know all McD franchises are different, but at the one I work at you can buy the toys alone for about $1.25

Well, Europe is more... diversified than US, and here in Poland we have Puss in Boots toys now. There were never any MLP toys in McD. :(
I easily obtained Mane Five blind bags though, so living here is not that bad. ^^
We're yet to see any ponies in happy meals in the UK. Which is a shame because they're doing them alongside pokemon Black and White toys on the continent atm (and I am a massive sucker for Snivy).

Nope. It's just that 'Shy is not available in normal packages, and since it's just a recolor of RD and I didn't feel like searching through real blind bags, I just settled with five.

Oh, good point... I bought the four-pack tube they did with Rainbow, Twilight, Pinkie and Rarity in it and I had to buy AJ and Fluttershy off eBay. Of course, two days after they both arrive, the seperate boxes are then available in Tesco so I could've bought AJ a lot cheaper/easier... -.-

What kind of excuse shall I make up to buy these wonderful toys.
The local McDonalds better be well stocked, because I am going to talk my mother into as many McDonalds trips as possible. Ponies are a must have.

@wackypony As a current worker I can safely say that all your problems can be solved in one very simple way: asking. Say can I get a larger fry instead of apples? Or Can I get a medium sprite instead of child sized. We will do it, and at most it will cost you one cent. Also you can indeed get soda. And hurray for ponies! I won't need to ask for them, I can just take them from the back room!

The first wave (the one in the picture) has been selling here in the Nordic countries during december-january.
The thing is, they only give out one specific pony per week.
So it has been my weekly habit to stroll into McD on monday afternoon and order "A Tall Latte and a My Little Pony Toy on the side".
Nobody seems to give a hoot as long as it's part of an order. Only problem is, Twillight Sparkle sold out everywhere in like three days and threw the rotation off-schedule.
Dude, I have the Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie up there right next to me. Got them when my dad took me and my friend to McDonalds on a half day...how is that possible?

Don't worry, I had the exact same reaction. It hit the part about Transformers, and I was all "Wait, what?" I guess I fully surrendered my masculinity months ago, and it's never felt better.

Just a reminder to everyone who plans on buying them en mass (as I am unfortunately an employee at McDonalds). Try not to come in during a breakfast, lunch, or dinner rush, go inside (DO NOT ASK WHILE IN THE DRIVE THRU, all you'll manage to do is piss everyone off.) when it's very slow and there's more than 1 person at the register.
Also, each McDonalds has what's known as a "customer satisfaction" box. We're only given 1 for each promotion so if you ask for a specific pony (go by color scheme, we don't remember which number each is and only a brony would know their names) there's a good chance they will have them all, unless of course several bronies beat you to the punch and they sold them all already. If this is the case, we get a new shipment of toys about every 2 or 3 days. So even if (let's use Dash as an example) is all sold out from our Customer Satisfaction box, if Dash is the third toy in the rotation and it's only day 2, you could try again in 3 or 4 days and we will probably have a ton of Dash's.
And please, remember to be polite and patient. Our customer satisfaction box is in an incredibly inconvenient location, so in order for me to go get it I must have somebody else man the register and assemble orders while I'm gone looking for the specific pony.
I was sad I was never able to get Rainbow Dash last time around D: but this time I WILL get them all!
Oh, and if you're still a little self conscious about buying "girls" toys and the looks people will give you might make you uncomfortable, see if you can "borrow" someones daughter (or accompany someone with a daughter) to McDonalds, then try and buy them. Not that I would judge anyways, but non bronies wouldn't be any wiser as to what's really going on. Or, the employee might be a brony, and if you go in by yourself I might give you a brohoof.
