    3. I did like both, especially the first; but the second was a little choppy for me right now. I think because I already have a headache, and dubstep/electro isn't helping. Any other time it would be awesome.

But of course both were lovely, because both took tremendous effort. So, I will respect that.

    9. Wow, that first one by Mando. That is really really nice. I'm impressed. Singing is quite decent. The lyrics are really good. Had me teary-eyed. Defiantly saving this one.

Quite like the second one too. Good dance mix.

    10. I let out a loud, happy gasp when I saw Mandopony's name.

    11. Oh good, I saw Mando's song this morning. I was hoping EQD would pick it up. I swear, that man's voice is as soothing as James Taylor. Hmm, now I want to hear Mr. Stein sing "Fire and Rain" or "You've Got a Friend." Hey...You've Got a Friend could really work well as a PMV or if the lyrics were ponified (like what the Beatle Bronies do).

It's one thing to not like a song. It's another to not offer any constructive criticism on it and when the artist thanks commentors for their words, you reply with "you're welcome"?

What kind of mean spirited sarcasm is that?

      ReplyDelete
    18. @Jimperator

      :3

yeah, that was kind of mean.

I just didn't like. nothing wrong with it, really. just... boring to me.

You've got a lot of nerve, pony. If you've got the audacity to say "you're welcome" for stating "meh/bad" for music that took a lot of talent and hard work to make, then at least say what was bad. What to improve? What did you like about it, even if the music isn't your favorite?

It takes hours, days, weeks, blood, sweat and tears to learn how to play music, and you took three seconds and maybe one listen to deem it "bad."

okay, you tempted me to give it a second listen.

i found what i was missed the first time.

I thought Mando was just undercutting Twilight by portraying her as being interested in books.

i missed that the first time.

regardless, I still didn't really care for it.

      ReplyDelete
    22. by that, i mean missed the verse where she talks about getting out and seeing sites.

      ReplyDelete
    23. @wackypony

Well if that's the case you could have simply said it wasn't to your taste.

There's a real difference between calling something bad and just not being interested. As it never helps to come off as offensive, it just leads to drama and unwanted animosity.

    24. Don't you think that Mando deserves a separate post? This guy will actually make a real career in music industry, not even mentioning his song about EqD as a special favor to this blog.

Subscribing to that guy's channel on youtube is a must. His channel was actually the 1st one I've ever subscribed too. AcousticBrony was the 2nd one ;)

Hey don't sweat it man, to each their own. Everyone likes different types of music which is why so many different genres exist. No hard feelings.

And thanks for the support everypony :)

    26. MandoPony, you have a real talent for singing, and i mean a true gift. This was really good, to the point where it was better than some of my favorite bands. The lyrics were great and i can't wait to hear more. Please? Please make more, pretty please? :P
Also a sidenote, could we leave wackypony alone now, I think he has already had his repentance and he has apologized. Everyone has there own tastes.

    27. I'm amused to no end that the title of the youtube video for #2 spelled defense wrong, making Sethisto spelling it right, wrong.

      #1 is fucking beautiful.

    29. Mando, If you're reading this, did you use your 8-bit theme in this? I swear that's it...

Nevertheless, it's a great song and I am going to download this as soon as I can.

    30. #1, Great musicianship, I see the merit for it, and can see why so many people like it...but I'm just not a big fan of the soft stuff, ya know. The only constructive criticism I could give to drive it more towards my tastes would be "try making it more like Megadeth," which would probably piss off the aforementioned people who do like it. So yeah, wish I could be more helpful, but it's just one of those unfortunate (and semi-awkward) "just not my cup of tea" kinds of things. I recognize the talent for sure, though.

I guess I'll give it a second listen, and see what I can come up with.

Geez, okay, first off the song becomes 200% better on the second listen, lol. Some of the lyrics are a bit choppy and seem a bit crunched in, and could benefit from using different wording structure to reduce the syllable count. Less is more. Show off those pipes of your's, and don't be afraid to hold notes, and not be breaking it up with excessive syllables.

I feel that having the first three lines of the lyrics start with "so much" makes it come out of the gate a bit repetitive. But it's something John Anderson does all the time in his music, and as a big fan of Yes, guess I can't complain too much about it (though it still irks me a tad).

And now here I am after four listens, and dangit the song's growing on me. Acquired taste, I see. Oh you.

Last thing I noticed was the instrumental all sounds the same throughout. They sound nice, but a bit more of a defined variety between the different sections of the song to more effectively convey the message of the lyrics would certainly be welcome. Though you do this very well in the end. When it swells, really swell. When it softens, really bring it down. I love it when songs do that; really go for the high's and dive into the low's.

#2 is a lot of fun to listen to. I was kinda on the fence the first time listening to it, and then on the second go I turned the volume WAY THE HECK UP, shaking the walls (upsetting/confusing my roommates), and yeah, sold, I like it. I think a bit more could be added to the melody, like a bit of a playful instrumental bit between the sound bites to give the song more variety. But since the song is short enough, it's still okay as it doesn't become monotonous.

No problem. You're one of my favorite musicians within this fandom.

    33. Both were über hardcore! ^_^ I love Mandopony's voice on the first song, and Scootaloo's Defense System is AWESOME! Only complaint I have is: Scootaloo's Defense System should be about 20% longer! Lol

    34. Man, back to back that was an interesting combination. Both excellent, though! :)

    35. lol about time Whooshs song gets featured :P

    36. I wonder, if we took all the talent in this fandom if we could set up a Studio dedicated to creating on going content for the G4 universe... We already have everything: storyboard artists, script writers, animators, singers, voice actors, song writers... etc

Now all we need is a name :D
