I think I'd just cry if I finally meet her up close for the first time. After all these years! It'd be like a dream! (Sorry, I'm a... very emotional guy... even when watching the episodes several times, I still cry. Magnificent work.) A thank you and an autograph would seal the deal. But perhaps is this just distant for me. v_v Well, make sure you ladies and gentlemen enjoy it as much as possible for us, the ones that cannot attend ;] Make it count!
Thanks. Don't get me wrong, I would totally geek out over meeting her, but only after the fact. I just had the opportunity to meet several players from my favorite football team last week, and I did everything possible to keep it cool and not come off as a blubbering idiot. Out of my immense respect for Mrs. Faust, I think I could find a way to control my emotions.
There's nothing wrong with the geeking out part. As someone that used to be really introverted (going to cons and meeting professionals made me less introverted), I pretty much approach pros like I do non-professional people. I'll admit on the inside, I think "wow, I got to meet this person. It was great!". lol I'm referring to those that go overboard with some of the questions (even get into her personal life, like some folks have done on her deviantART page), or behave in a creepy manner. Most folks online seem to be okay, but there's always the minority that mess things up. Other than one or two concerns, I'm really happy to hear that she's going to another convention.
hmmmmm looks at special guests NOW I REALLY WANT TO GO!!!!!!!! alas the funds and schedule will probably not allow for such a trip. *rereads the post ohhh wait its in june, hmmmmm, USE ALL THE VACATION DAYS!!!! nah but we'll see come June where I stand.
I propose that we organize some all-encompassing internet video coverage of the next BroNYcon, much the same way that Comic-Con is covered. It'll be epic and awesome for all of those who can't attend. :D
Gots to go -- and no, I won't be a fawning brony over Lauren. Just hanging out in NYC for a weekend and hearing her as a speaker is enough. :-) Now, how do I stay in NYC cheaply enough?
Ughhh, please for the love of god, nobody tarnish the Brony name. I can already imagine a bunch of fat slobbering dumbasses asking stupid ass questions. To the people who want to hide the saucy pictures, I am sure Lauren has seen enough of them on Deviantart, and knows what to expect.
You guys are awesome. I just read this thread, and I highly approve of your message. While reading this, I've been trying to imagine how Lauren Faust might feel. I'm highly introverted, so socializing is exhausting for me. If I get burnt-out from being in a room with 6 of my relatives and being asked a few questions about school... Sigh... I'm so sorry Ms. Faust.
Hey, thanks for the positive response. If you ever meet her someday, just say hello to her, let her know she's done a remarkable job on FIM (and maybe her other works, too, if you enjoyed the things she did outside of FIM). To me, Lauren is just like any other person on this planet; a person with amazing artistic and writing talents. :)
I only hope the audience will be open to her current non-pony efforts. As a professional, she's taking every avenue to promote her own personal creations like Galaxy Girls, because like any good artist that's where her heart truly is. I'd hate to see her hit with a wall of anti-enthusiasm and under-appreciation for her previous and current work. Considering the number of follow artists in the Pony community, that would be a crying shame.
AND, for the love of CELESTIA, may the everlovin' holy SMACKDOWN be administered to the first person to mention Cupcakes, shipping or Rule34. PROTIP: She's already answered those questions in a FAQ post on her Facebook anyway.
Mainly guys, if you want to make her smile just show some love and openness for Galaxy Girls, with a side of appreciation for her other non-pony work. She's not a goddess, but she's certainly not a one-trick pony; she's a person, a talented artist and professional.
Someone PLEASE for the sake of those that cannot come, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE GIVE US SOME VIDEO to perhaps ... I don't know... take a peek? <:D Gentlemen, Mrs. Faust has done incredible work and I very much admire her as the cartoon creator she is. I mean SERIOUSLY! AFTER ALL THESE YEARS?! LAUREN FAUST, HERSELF?! POWERPUFF GIRLS... FOSTER'S HOME FOR IMAGINARY FRIENDS, AND ALL ELSE! I MEAN REALLY! I WISH I COULD BE THERE! :O Gentlemen, make her feel as most appreciated as possible. Enjoy the Con. (Wish I could go ;) ) Well, there's always another time... I hope :S At ease, folks!
Live in California, unemployed at the moment, starting student teaching tomorrow which doesn't pay, but is still full time. I need to get a night job or something. Even then I need to save that money for moving and finding a place to live. Maybe I can turn to prostitution?
So assuming I manage to scrape together the cash somehow and overcome my anxiety about traveling alone and getting lost in a strange city, I have a question. The only con I've ever been to is Anime Expo and once being dragged to Yaoicon where I had to charm my way into another group's hotel room for the night. I'd love to find a pack of bronies to split a room with in complete disregard of all fire safety laws but am wondering how easy that would be. I don't know where would be a good place to coordinate that with strangers or if the hotels in New York are really proactive in stopping that. How viable is the roomless convention goer strategy?
Bravo! Yeah, Lauren Faust has done more than just work on FIM. If one really appreciated her work, he/she would explore and appreciate other things she was involved in: Foster's, Powerpuff Girls, Cats Don't Dance, The Iron Giant, and her work with Milky Way and the Galaxy Girls. I really hope people that have only watched FIM look at the other things Lauren has worked on, instead of acting like only ponies matter, and nothing more (like some of the people on YouTube and FB post on The Hub's pages have done -_-).
now to buy a hippie van, fix it up, put in shag carpet, a lava lamp that will be bolted down, a disco ball, and a couch, somehow fit in room for a small kitchen and luggage and I'll be good...
that and airbrush a fluttershy onto the side, because, you know, ponies.

ReplyDeleteI know how you feel man. I'm 16 and live an hour outside of Boston.
Bronycon would probably be the only thing that I would ever go to NY for.
They better rent more room. I got from BroNYcon today, and it was murder because it was so damn tiny in there!
