He's so big name that even I have somewhere heard he's name so I have some vague image of who the hay he is. I'm not really "in" these things. Oh don't get me wrong; when it's entirely appropriate, his airbrush styled art is among some of my favorites too! I guess I just feel the fandom takes quite a few liberties that kinda detract from the message and integrity of the show.
John Joseco is a man who creates beautiful art without fear of IDIOTS who will demonize him. Expressing his innate creativity and freedom without hurting another living being.
Makes him a fucking HERO in my book.
He and anyone else level-headed enough to know that bronies are never going to be 100% respected and admired across the world (because that's impossible for ANYTHING) even if there wasn't porn. These are people I love. People who don't live in fantasy.

Geez, I was afraid this would happen. I'm not demonizing anyone; I've stated numerous times that all this is just my opinion. I never claimed anything I've said to be absolute or fact, nor am I naive enough to think pony porn is source of all pony ridicule. I was able to express my views and opinions rationally, and without any name calling. :C
Not that it isn't deserving, but I think spotlighting someone as well known as JJ kinda defeats the purposes of community spotlights.
Love JJ's work. both his clean and nsfw are extremely comical and enjoyable.
It's a shame people look down on him because of what he likes to draw. If it weren't for the fact that a lot people don't give two damns about artists unless they have eye-candy, you'd see a lot more clean work from A LOT more people.
I salute the man and hopes he keeps drawing for the community! If it makes people uncomfortable then they shouldn't talk about it so much. If arguments like his work reflects negativity on the community is the reason for the hate, then then it sounds like fans themselves that still aren't not comfortable with themselves and the fandom.

Eh, a decent spotlight. I find his artwork to be a bit overrated myself, but I can appreciate some specific pieces of his greatly. His, to put it lightly, blatant porn is groan-worthy though. It's just another one of those moments when fans that claim that bronies 'aren't sexual at all' are hilariously wrong.

I enjoy his regular pony art and avoid his rule 34 stuff - it's pretty easy to do. The guy is a great talent, and the fandom is lucky to have him.
JJ IS A PRODIGY AND YOU KNOW IT. THOSE WHO WITNESS HIS AWESOMENESS IN THE FORM OF LIVESTREAM HAVE TASTED THE FRUIT OF THE GODS. THAT IS ALL, YOUR ESTEMED PRINCESS LUNA.
As much NSFW art as he puts out, the overwhelming majority of his pony drawings are clean, especially if you disregard his humanized pony drawings. I admire his productivity and skill, and I even mostly tolerate his NSFW art because almost all of it is either adult humanized "ponies" or stuff done with an attempt at humor. I don't think he's, for example, drawn porn of Lauren Faust's alicorn, unlike another artist named in these comments...
Johnjoseco gets a brohoof from me because he perposely AVOIDS drawing pony porn, even if some of his "Molestia" stuff is (arguably, by it's very nature) sexual, and as I understand it, he does that tumblr 4 teh lolz.

I've gotta be honest, even if he hasn't done a lot of pony porn, he has drawn a lot of humanized porn and creepily sexualized ponies. He's a part of a segment of bronies that give us a bad name. I wouldn't celebrate him.

And sometimes I think people confuse quantity as quality. Joseco puts out a ton of work, probably more than any other MLP artists, but it's merely okay.
Joseco's art is incredibly...average. To me, at least. There are so many pony artists that makes his stuff look bland. As Vanishing mentioned, I think his popularity is more about quantity than quality.
Well if you watch his Livestreams you can see just how fast he pulls out these sketches; Especially with the number of requests he can jam into the streams themselves. Considering the art he did pre-pony, you can see the sort of things he can do; (Also with the amount of different projects he runs, it makes sense that he's got a load of art floating around)
JJ is probably one of the best Pony artists. The only other guy I can think of better than JJ is Slugbox.
Can I say for a moment that I _hate_ audio/video-only interviews? Give me a transcript any day, I don't like waiting for them to say stuff when I could be reading it at 5 times that speed. x_x

No really though. Equestria Daily is great. It's privately owned so they can post whatever they want to. It's TOTALLY their awesome site to expand and for us to explore. John Joeseco, probably a nice guy. Sounded nice in the interview. Which I listened to so I could give this objective input.

Wake up, certain members of the fanbase: Some of us don't want to associate ourselves with perverted, NSFW artworks.

When I speak in the context of this show and use the word pony I'm referring to precisely what we see on screen. Non-human entities with human intelligence, human outlets of emotion and expression, and the makings of what I, at least, would call a soul.
That is completely completely different from a literal actual horse on a farm somewhere. They look completely different to me, too, outside of the four legs.
I'm not down with the idea of fapping to ANIMALS myself. Taste is whatever but the danger there is the thought of someone escalating it and actually harming a real animal for gratification.
Thankfully I have kept myself sane enough to know that PONIES are not real, there's no substitute, it's silly fantasy, it's sure as hell abnormal, but it's not going anywhere. And it's sure as hell not detracting from my love of the show otherwise. I would love this show like no other even if I got drunk and chopped off my genitals next weekend.
I understand the bad impression that clop art gives many uninformed people of us...but those people are probably doomed to continued ignorance anyway. Everywhere you look you hear of bronies and their varied efforts changing people's lives but we aren't perfect and won't be. I feel like most people who can't make the distinction between what some of us feel and the thoughts of people who are actually out there putting their dicks in awful, undeserving places are very hard people to change.

The damage is already done. We can try to explain to others about the show's awesome animation, great characters and wonderful music, but they will always point to images of Molestia saying things like "I CAME!" and bunch us with the likes of JJ and Slugbox. Some Bronies might argue that we should embrace those guys as our allies, but not me. I want nothing to do with them.

The only damage being done is when people try to section off the fandom because they don't like certain artists. Making a big deal out of it only increases the amount of attention getting drawn to it. If you ignore it and move on, people are less likely to notice.

You categorized artist like him in general, and was referring to that aspect. Just because you can see how one or two artists draw doesn't mean you know the rest. And I should really end this on my end by saying that you are 100% entitled to your opinion on artists and what they do, but being a dick and slinging insults around doesn't exactly look that great to others.
I told myself I wouldn't get seriously involved in this, so I should really stick to that. If you have a problem with a featured artist, just send an email to someone at EqD, or just say you don't like the artist and leave it at that. In closing, JJ and the rest of the rule 34 "artists" are overrated smut lovers and not worth sticking up for. And if you do enjoy their work(RexNinja, JoseMD and the lot), my condolences. Rule34 stuff of JJ's is all in great fun and it's just like with anime fandom's Rule34. It's all nice and fun. That's all I can say. I think his art benefits greatly from having fun with sexuality, not shying away from it. I'm actually an animation student. I study this stuff. I'm not against Rule34. I'm against POORLY DRAWN art and artist who are overrated. Which is in the grey area of subjectivity. Can you look at JJ's art and say it's anatomically correct? Probably not. Subjective.

Fair enough HMorris73. But it shouldn't really be considered as a reason why sexualized art is okay or not, but SovBrony mentioned it as a means to disregard such because of it. That's a really touchy issue so I just think we shouldn't even go there. And I think it's a bit dangerous territory for people to perceive MLP's morality stories as anything religious at all. It's just simple humanistic storytelling that should be intrinsic in everyone. Yes, that includes 'clopfic' writers or Rule34 artists.
And SovBrony, I guess that could be fair enough, but I've seen that EXACT SAME ARGUMENT in Ponibooru. Maybe it's a freak incident or somebody's up to their old tricks. Just saying, I just don't see why people need to put down JJ so hard just because he's a bit popular and has a knack for erotic art.
Even artistically speaking, I just don't see how his art is critically flawed. Then again, if you want to get into flaws, just about every artists has them. But they can get into their groove with their own art and style. I think that's largely how JJ is in now. If you want a ton of artistic composition and coloring and such, you should look at some art JJ is capable of doing. Most of the sketches he does now is just that: Sketches. And he's just doing it for fun of it all.
And even places like Ponibooru and Deviantart has all of it locked behind NSFW areas so it's not like people can even find them without some searching.
Again, as for the morality issue of it, I just don't see how it really holds up. Then again, I was exposed to erotic art concerning magical girl fandom from Japan, so this just doesn't come across as anything new. People who get into that stuff are in it for the entertainment value alone, nothing more.
