Madmax sure was quick on the draw after today's episode! Poor Dashie, we won't judge you on your peculiar tastes, but Colgate is going to be after you if she sees you doing that.
I love dash, but one of my favorite parts was how she never got cider, even after applebloom said "And because of this silly competition, we have enough cider for the whole town!" She said that and I was like, everyone except Dash.
Well, for one thing, Loyalty. That's kind of her thing. And two, it was the considerate thing to do. You know, so, ideally, they could both have their cider.
After seeing that comic, I did a bit of research, and apparently horses eat dirt when they lack minerals. So I guess that behaviour is natural even if it's sound really silly.

The dirt adds a unique flavor and texture to the cider you just can't get anywhere else.
