Nightly Roundup #191

When she's disgruntled, she's twice as cute.

Have some news.

Fanfiction Poll Results

A few nights ago I posted up a fanfic poll, these are the results!

I see you forgot to include Ballad of Twilight Sparkle. I guess it would have skewed the results some, so I can't blame you.

Vanacast: Hearth's Warming Eve

More Let's watch! Charge.

Time for another poll thing! Take it here!

The Equestrian Anthem Sheet Music + Chrods for Piano

Successful Meetups

That looks... cold. Apparently 46 of them hit this one up! That's really impressive considering all of their pony came from the internet until recently.

Have a video.

And a writeup. (In Polish!)

Helsinki

Copy Paste:
We hosted another brony meetup in Finland last Saturday. This was the fourth meetup in Helsinki and the biggest yet in Finland: there was a whopping 102 attendees from all over the country. We watched the live streaming of the newest episode of FiM, held a pony themed quiz, there was lots of drawing, a few people painted custom ponies and most importantly everyone had a great time and met lots and lots of new friends.

Newmarket

A smaller one! Also looks cold.  Have some links:

Singapore

Copy Paste:

Singapore had its biggest brony meetup last Sunday, 18th December 2011, with around 35 attendances.

A great day of fun and friendship beginning with a gathering down at Vivo City in the morning before starting our activities, which include hunting for Pony merchandise, for those who had reached there earlier, at Toy"R"Us for Christmas. (Yea, it's one of the few places in Singapore that actually sells My Little Pony figurines and stuffs) and chit-chat session among one another.
Once everyone had reached the location we all proceeded up to the Sky park for some relaxing, viewing of the new episode, and went to watch Sherlock Holmes at our local cinema, Golden Village.
We then proceed to have an awesome dinner down at the nearby food court before calling it a day.

As compared to some of our previous meetup, this was indeed our most successful meetup yet! Further meetup had been planned for the next few months as well.

Piano Chrods! Amazing!

Also I'll bet you have a bet on that trixie plush, Seth. I know you do.

Piano sheet music for the anthem. Insta-learn.

Sombre Acorn said...

Sweet, I've been looking for some new piano music to try out.

Kyle_Katarn said...

Ship fic list without Building Bridges... okay. :(

Bombedrumbum said...

Fallout Equestria beat Past Sins, OH YEAH

Petra Leão said...

Music sheets!! Thank you Daniel & EqD crew! I ALMOST could forgave Sethisto for posting so much bitch Trixies after this one :)

Short fairly good news.

18th December 2012 Singapore Meetup. SEEMS LEGIT, SETH.

Eddmario said...

@Bomb Not by much though. Past Sins is still the best thing I've ever read though. Then again, I really haven't read that much fanfiction, and all the fanfiction I have read is just Cupcakes, Midnight Crusaders, Past Sins, and Fandom Crisis.

Bombedrumbum said...

.......i need to read "Dangerous Business Going Out Your Door", don't I?

Bombedrumbum said...

@Eddmario you must read that fanfiction.

Shipping is favorite genre by 24% to the runner-up's 15%? Dark ranks higher as a genre than normal?

Usually I'm happy to be so far out of tune with what's popular...

HMorris73 said...

I'm also disappointed by the lack of "The Ballad of Twilight Sparkle" in the poll...

wackypony said...

I've read none of the fics in that poll. well, maybe one. I read mane 6 shipping, nearly exclusively.

Kurraga said...

Where are the 2 parters in the best episode Poll? I wanted to vote for "Return of Harmany" for Question 2. (I like part 2, but you can't watch the second part by itself).

Also I'd probably watch every episode in a marathon anyway.

brilliantspecter said...

Herp, S2, Ep. 10 is 'Secret of my Success' on the poll.

Ah well, still should be interesting to see the outcome. So HARD to pick ones that I'd want to skip!
And so hard to pick my top 5. Ugh!

Niemand said...

They are eating scootaloo!

Patchwork Poltergeist said...

Huh, I had no idea Ship-fic was so popular. I thought for sure Normal was at the top.

Octavia said...

Trixie's always cute. Inb4 "Neighsayers in the audience!"

Oh boy. Shipping is the most popular genre in fanfiction. By a good margin too. Well, guess that isn't really a huge surprise. My Little Dashie dominated the sad category. Ugh, Allegrezza topped it's category as well. Means too many people like to see me shipped. :x Of course Fallout: Equestria really dominated the Dark category and also won The All Time Favorite category. Past Sins was a close second place. With how popular those two are, that's no surprise either.

It was actually much harder to choose least favorite episodes than favorite. lol Probably because I've actually thought which are my more favorites. But I don't realy dislike any of them. So I kinda had to just take guesses without really having any least favorites. I noticed they left out the season premiere two-parters though.

Wow, sheet music and chords for the Anthem song already, nice.

Dem pony posters in the Brony Movement video. lol That's basically what I've been telling friends who say they're all alone in their areas. To put up a poster or such somewhere. Because with how widespread this community is now, there's a somewhat good chance there still may be other Bronies around your area.

Ooh, pony recipe blog. That's a kinda cool idea.

And there's absolutely adorable little beanie Trixie again. <3

haha the only one of those stories I read is Pony Psychology

MizuTakishima said...

Trying to take the favorite episode survey, but they don't seem to have any of the two-parter episodes on the list!

How can I compose a list of my favorite episodes if the Two-parters aren't an option at all??

They could have at least counted them as one one episode or something ; o ;

wackypony said...

on the episode survey, if i could've i would've picked Mare Do Well all 5 times, cause i'm inches away from absolutely loathing that episode.

wackypony said...

on the remove from viewing question.

Overlong Analysis Cobalt said...

Gunnerkrigg Court's current comic has a bonus thing that's all 'bout them bronies. That sounds like somethin' we'd be interested in, right? (Plus, y'know, fun comic 'n stuff)

ChaosDX1 said...

Bronie Movement vid, I think he accidentally almost pulled off Fluttershy's "Squee" (1:12)

K4RN4GE said...

Well, of course Fallout: Equestria won all time favorite. It only has a rainbow colored tag that says LEGENDARY on it! And yes, I too was disheartened by the lack of Ballad of Twilight Sparkle. (When the Hell is it going to update!?)

sellyme said...

102 people? Jesus... Looks like South Australia has a target to beat in February.

anoadragon453 said...

It was hard to pick my least favorite episodes :/

Ace2401 said...

Well, that episode poll isn't getting a response from me, because if I was gonna do a marathon I'd watch every single episode. XD

Also, Silent Ponyville needed moar votes in that fanfic poll.

814ckd347h said...

WHATHEBUCK.
A Singapore meetup?!?! I didn't even know! Damnit, too much Skyrim CAN be bad I guess.

Shit, I can't believe I didn't even know there was a local brony community untill today. I feel like crying.

Twilight Psycho said...

I'm guessing clopfics fall into the shipping category as well?

Bugsydor said...

Is it wrong that I feel satisfied that my personal triumvirate of top tier titles trumped all others on the popular fics poll? (FO:E, Past Sins, and TtEoAP.) I clearly need to get around to reading It's a Dangerous Business, Going Out Your Door, though. It's a wonder I haven't done so by now.

SweeTeeVee said...

Picking favourite episodesis hard. I got through my top 2 then was stumped. Same with least favourite.

Ashfire said...

@Kurraga

i didn't put the two parter season openers in the poll, because in my mareathon, i would /not/ cut those out anyway, /because/ they are season openers.

also, i know how hard this quiz actually is, perhaps i should have done a smaller #...

for reference, this quiz was submitted by synch tube room: Mareathon, you should come check us out every night at 8-9PM EQD time, and this friday 3PM EQD time. tonight we'll be playing the top three favorite episodes, based on the current results of the poll.

*Doesn't take poll*

Harwick said...

Heh... It Takes A Village came in a strong #3 in the shipping category, despite barely having anything remotely shippy about it. The confused footnote about that made me laugh.

Picking my least favorite episodes would be tough... I watched all of season 1 on YouTube over the summer, so it's not like I really dwelled on disappointment over any of them. I went from one to the next to the next, so while high
points stood out, anything that would be a low point was quickly moved past. As for season 2, I've not had any real complaints and have loved a great deal of it.

CoffeeGrunt said...

Wow, holy shit. I had not anticipated that kind of reception for Allegrezza!

I guess I better go write a celebratory update, then! xD

grmbl... I want a meetup wich doesn‘t require 200€ and a plane to get there.
Oh well.

I made the 9,000th vote. yay...

TenchiFreak5 said...

I'm surprised Shipping ranked so highly considering all the bitching stories still occasionally get.

Lupus Albus said...

Don't worry Sethisto, I still voted Ballad of Twilight Sparkle as best fic.

Even though it's STILL INCOMPLETE AND DOESN'T UPDATE BLARG.

FoxInShadow said...

Ponymeet in Wrocław was epic :D (btw- that was the biggest one in Poland so far)

Nice to see BronyTOM's video up.

@Overlong Analysis Cobalt: Further proof that Gunnerkrigg Court is the best plot-driven comic on the interwebs. Anyone that likes friendship, magic, and socially awkward protagonists with fiery tempers is doing themselves a disservice by not reading it.

@K4RN$GE: The next chapter's already in the works. I've heard rumors it'll be up around Christmas, but no promises there.

AuroraDawn said...

Rainbow Factory made 4th favorite Grimdark.
This pleases me greatly. Also holy manure, I beat The Cough AND Fallout: Project Horizens?

...whoooah.

Trixie is wurst pony

Senior Waffles said...

For the episode poll, I had to include "Call of the Cutie" as one of my favorite episodes. I just saw "Friendship is Witchcraft" a few days ago and the spoof they did was ROFL tastic, so by association, the episode which it is based off deserves the utmost respect. Then of course most of the Rarity centered episodes made the list of favorites.

Kyronea said...

Argh. I wish there were meetups in Denver at some point.
